For the record, yes, I went out of my way to find a Maria Sharapova swimsuit spread. So sue me.
It has been announced that Sports Illustrated and Sony Network Entertainment have teamed up to bring 3D beauties into your living room in high definition. They're calling it a "cutting-edge transactional licensing agreement" initially based on the 2011 SI Swimsuit issue. Basically, it delivers a 3D Swimsuit video to the PSN and PS3, as well as Sony's 3D-compatible and network-enabled 2010 and 2011 Bravia HDTVs and 2011 Blu-Ray players (the latter thanks to Qriocity). Said Mark Ford, President of the Sports Illustrated Group:
"Just when you think the bar couldn't get any higher for the Swimsuit franchise, we've raised it once again with our partners at Sony. Swimsuit in 3D has extraordinary potential and we're thrilled to deliver its millions of fans a new perspective through the exciting world of 3D video."
In addition to the 3D stuff, there will be around 12 hours of Swimsuit video available, complete with behind-the-scenes "making of" videos. PS3 users will also have access to "Dynamic PS3 Themes" based on shoots from the '90s, 2006, 2009 and 2010. "We strive to deliver unique content to our users, and are delighted to offer this first-of-its-kind high definition 3D Swimsuit video," said Tim Schaaff, President of Sony Network Entertainment.
Well, you know…another good reason to be a PS3 owner.
Nice, Nice.
For the record, the picture was too distracting for me to read the article. Sorry Ben, but it's what you get when you post that. :p

there is an article with that pic? 🙂 lol
dynamic themes of hot women in barely any clothing…
good stuff more please
And you thought 3D was a gimmick…
Sony's always looking out for us. Keep up the good work.
I'm not really interested in this but Ben, I have to thank ya for that Maria Sharapova bit.
I'm a huge fan of her, too bad she's been slipping down in recent years.
She recovered pretty well from that shoulder injury, though. She was looking good towards the end of last season; I think she'll do fine this year.
I hope so Ben, I really wanna see her winning another Grand Slam.
The good news is she's an athlete and a competitor first and a model/celebrity second. She wants to win. This means we'll see her around for quite a while, provided she still has that drive. 🙂
Nice. Sony's always finding new ways of bringing content people want.
As someone who's extremely fortunate in that his wife is so broad minded that she ensures that each year's SI swimsuit issue arrives in the mail, I can only hope that when we get a 3D TV here, we will of course make the move to the new technology…
Very lucky man Highlander… but it has to be said, it is quite a sad day for the PS3… just picked up the news on PS3News that the first signed executable games can now be launched straight from XMB via 3.55.
Some one at Sony HQ is going to get truly smacked up… World will be particularly annoyed, as Castlevania becomes the fist non-jailbreak victim… sigh… I think the PS4 must truly be on its way 🙂
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
It's a dark day indeed, on the other hand as many people have sought to persuade me, honest people would buy their games either way, and dishonest people would find other ways, regardless. I'm not sure I agree completely with that, as I do think this is a case of dark days, but I still remain hopeful that there are counter measures to be employed that can stop the failure at this point so that future games remain secure, even if games currently available are not.
Sony did come out & respond to the hack 2 days ago, saying that they're aware of it & that they'll be looking into it over the next 2 weks.
Other than that, Sony's staying tight-lipped on whatever plans they might have.
I'm certainly hope there's a way Sony can wreck their plans for good.
I hate pirates(excluding Johnny Depp)
Sony should just go back to making the ps3's themselves. So much for saving money on production costs by doing business with China.
Huh? There's some new hack attempt? How's this one work?
The system is completely compromised, World.
Eh, they'll fix it, they fix everything.
Nah. I'll wait until my TV does 3DD.
3D… When all else fails… boobies.
Well… I gave you a thumbs up, anyways.
Isn't that phrase the mantra of popular culture? "When all else fails…. boobies".
Well…. yup!
Slow news day? Or simply wanting to bring a smile to the faces of your faithful readership?
Eh, sort of both. 🙂
when will sony stop wasting there time with unnecessary crap like this?
we want games sony, not 3D pics of bikinis!
i love 3D, but 3D
pics and porn are one of the things i wont be delving into.
Yes, you're too busy unleashing wraths, and laying out $100s on TVs you hate and games you can't stand…
I don't get what you mean highlander. 🙁
gangan,
It would require following the posts of this lad.
where did i say i hate my TV?
i love my TV!
im just disappointed in the ps3s 3D effects after being use to what the PC delivers.
its like going from a 5 star hotel to a motel 6!
not only in visuals, but in effects too.
you go from 1080P 60FPS to normally sub HD since most games are normally 720P and 30FPS.
not to mention no ps3 game has things popping out of the screen like PC games have.
i do like the occasional wrath unleash though, its great for keeping the skin bright, wrinkle free and colorful!
helps prevent balding and fading hair color too.
I don't think that all Bravia TV or Blu-ray player owners care about games. Also I'm sure that Sony loaned them the equipment (at no additional cost or very cheaply) to shoot and edit the material in 3D. I don't think many developers have a need for 3D broadcast quality video cameras.
____________, It's funny you say the things you do about Sony. They happen to be the reason why we have high definition television and 3D. Practically all this technology is using Sony cameras and equipment.
You should consider picking a name like Baghdad Bob.

Dude, they are still making games, this is just another venture. You know, additional content. So like.. just be quiet.
So, I'll bet this also means that once we play Mafia 3-D, all those Playboy's are gonna be "getting giggy with it",

I'm a bigger fan of 3D porn, but 3D bikini babes could be nice…
3D porn = man juice flying off the screen at your face = NOT GOOD!
lol @ lawless. NOOO man juice. Just watch girl on girl.
Commence the rolling of the eyes. Gonna need a mop to clean up all these guys' drool on this page!
(Overheard on BestBuy's intercom)
Er….Spillage in aisle 5….HD3D section
Why was Best Buy voted one of the most hated companies ever? I've never had trouble at my Best Buy.
This is cool and all, but I have access to pornography if I so choose.
Yes, but with this, everytime you turn off a game and see your 3D backdrop, you'll be reminded of that porn.
Still not gonna spend moneys on a 3D TV Until my regular TV is on its last legs.
