Well, it was bound to happen.
Although many downloadable games have taken off this generation, some smaller apps for mobile devices have also proven spectacularly popular. Angry Birds for the iPhone and Android has been downloaded over 40 million times already and as a result, it has arrived on the PSN for play on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable. Rovio has made the announcement ; the official launch date is January 5 and it'll only cost you $3.99. And as an even bigger shock, it has been revealed that a sequel is in the works at Rovio; said chief executive Peter Vesterbacka- "Let’s say that you will see a lot more of the pigs." And if the follow-up proves as massively popular as the original, that too might come to the PlayStation platform at some point. We have plenty of entertaining, even addictive titles in the digital world but for some reason, Angry Birds seems to have grasped an entire nation. We won't try to explain it. Just let it be.
If you haven't already indulged on your phone, maybe you'll be more comfortable playing on the big screen. …weird as that may seem.
Related Game(s): Angry Birds
its to expensive way buy it on psp/ps3 for $4 when you can get it for free on andriod and 79c on iphone?
It may not cost you anything on Android, but thats because it is riddled with advertisements.
*riddled* with ads? Dude, we're talking about one single thin banner in the upper right corner… You don't happen to be a slightly jealous iPhone owner, by any chance? 😀
I dont see this working. Angry Birds is popular because its pretty much the best thing you can do with a touch screen and no buttons. Console gamers are used to gameplay with a bit more depth so Angry Birds will feel out of place on PSN i think.
I wish I could make dorky little games and sell them to inept cell phone gamers to make millions of dollars.
I might just give that a try, sometime! ^.^
Who's stopping you, World? The platform is based on well known technology (Linux and Java) and the Android development kit is free for all to download… All you need is some talent, and a good idea.

I'd like to try this but I don't think my PS3 is the place for iPhone ports. I'll just ask one of the millions who have an iPhone if I can have a quick look at it.
Angry Birds is a fun way to flick a bird at pigs with your the slide of your fingertip on a touchscreen. Not so much fun when the whole reason it's so addictive is taking away and replaced by a controller.
It supports Move so it might not be the controller issue.
I haven't tried it on the PS3, but since it's a Mini I don't think it has Move support. Can anyone who has tried it on the PS3 confirm this?
I'm away for a week and we start getting immature gamers? So sad.
When I have a moment of time, instead of pulling out my cell phone, I like to just think.
Btw, the 12-year-old (Pedo Grandpa) had his warning. And he obviously doesn't fit in here, so he's gone.
that was his screen name? seriously?
Seriously. Before that it was child pedo or something.
He'll go back to gamespot or IGN where he belongs. Good riddance.
Oh man, I was just in the middle of thrashing him.
I got this game free on my android and still don't play it. Its not a bad game but I can't for the life of me figure out how its become such a phenomenon. And as NoSmokingBandit pointed out, the concept makes way more sense on a mobile touchscreen than a powerful console.
I hope more iphone games get release on psn like RUA, or plants vs zombies.
For the record,
Angry Birds is also available for Nokia's Symbian platform.
I have it on my N8. Aswell as Angry Birds Seasons
Oh come on!
A it's a mobile phone game, i did not pay £300+ for a PS3 to play silly mobile phone games, give our console some dignity please.
I have this in my Android phone. It's fun, it's simple, but it drains the battery.
I downloaded it to my PSP last night and it's more challenging, but equally fun.
Now, I can play AB on my phone, my PSP or my PS3, maybe it's the way to make my girl a gamer, she loves it.
It was Your Pedophile the day before. Honestly who would think that's is funny.
I really don't see the entertainment value of this game. I played it once and it was cool but not something I'd sit and do at home on my ps3..my ps3 deserves better treatment then that…
*totally* agree. Different games for different platforms.
Anybody know if move is supported? I would buy it if it is, but probably not if it requires a regular controller.
