Sega and Platinum Games have been great for each other, so it's no surprise that the developer wishes to extend its deal with the publisher.
According to CVG and SegaBits citing the most recent issue of GameInformer, Sega West VP of marketing and sales, Alan Pritchard, has confirmed that they will soon announce the newest Platinum offering. This comes on the heels of the completion of the duo's four-game deal, which started with MadWorld and ended with October's Vanquish . As Platinum has hinted at a Bayonetta sequel and it's the most popular of the group (although Vanquish did relatively well on the sales charts), our money's on Bayonetta 2 . Although the PlayStation 3 version suffered due to a slipshod port on Sega's part, it's clear Platinum learned their lesson; Vanquish was excellent on both the PS3 and 360. Therefore, we're willing to bet PS3 owners won't get shafted again with a Bayonetta follow-up, and we know action aficionados are just aching for more intricate, hardcore witch action.
Oh, and by the way, Pritchard also confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines is still a go, and there will be three major Sonic announcements early next year. …um, yay?
Well even though I bought bayonneta and never even played I I'd probably get part 2 if they are working on it just becuz all my friends who played it told me it was good too bad I got way too many games to play to actually start it :/ ( the major downside of being a vg collector)
bxshotboi,
I know what you mean.
As a Video game collector too, with over 1750 games(so far), & with well over a 1000 of them backlogged too(so far), my only problem is trying to figure out which game I should play next.
But even with my huge backlog now, I can never have "too many" games, and by the end of next year, I hope to have a backlog of at least another 300 more, LOL
If it is Bayonetta 2 hopefully the developer will grow some balls and give PS3 owners a decent game instead of the sh!tty "make do with" port we had to put up with before.
Can't wait for this. Bayonetta was so damn good in a cutesy J-pop way.

Matter of fact when bayonnetta 2 comes out if it does I'll be sure to play the first one just to know the story
I've basically played it twice and I still don't know what's really going on in the story. All I can really remember is that it's about a witch and some dude and some big evil gods. You lay the smack down and kick a lot of butt. End of story.
Anyway, for me, the game is all about the action.
Yeah, story is a tack-on in Bayonetta.
Prancing stripper witch beats on evil things with an endless variety of deadly and titillating combos.
That's it. Win.
LoL @ Ben
"That's it. Win. "
Prancing stripper witch…
Anything that follows can't be bad, right? Assuming of course that you aren't in the cross-hair…
Platinum is like the exact opposite of what Ninja Theory is, While NT is good at storytelling, the gameplay of both they're games was just always lacking something; oh and I can't forget about the technical issues. Platinum on the other hand is great when it comes to the gameplay, and not so much when it comes to the story and I have to see any real overwhelming glitches or technical problems so far.

hey ben, you forgot that she met another stipper witch, although not as hot, and a stalker guy.
"Win"
Well, I still plan to get Vanquish sometime in the future, and this is interesting news. But Platinum have given us four new IPs out of the deal, and I hope they give us another one. My only wish: Kepp the style, but add a bit of substance, and then I'll be happy.
Aliens: Colonial Marines? There's a name I haven't heard in a while. But anything 'Alien' is good, provided 'Predator' isn't involved, so that'll be interesting, and I get the feeling that the three Sonic announcements will be S4:P2, Sonic Colours 2, and Free Riders 2.
Peace.
Aliens : Colonial Marines?
Oh yes, that'd be a game I could go for. I don't care how much bug guts I spill, Alien bug/monsters are always in season. So long as I don't have to take off and nuke them from orbit, no reason to short-cut the destruction of their nest when you can take 'em down one at a time.

"Marines, we are leaving!!!"
Highlander,
Are you taking the mickey out of my enjoyment of the 'Alien' franchise, or is that a serious comment?
@Lawless,
That was a serious comment. I enjoy shooters where the enemies are not human/humanoid. I have no problem completely decimating the universe's population of alien hordes or monsters or whatever as long as they are not human or human like. Don't get me wrong, taking out the bad guy is always satisfying, it works for me in Uncharted for example, but I've never been able to get into the more general first person shooter genre when the opponents or enemies are human. I just have a more enjoyable game obliterating aliens or monsters than people.
I'd love a game based on the Aliens universe. Now, that said, the more gory and visceral the game is, the less I enjoy it, so there is a kind of happy medium, which is what prevents me from enjoying Deadspace.

Ah, sweet.
Should have added, I enjoyed the Vanquish demo, and have to get the game soon, it's good old fashioned arcade shooting fun.
THREE Sonic announcements?
I'm not sure I'll be jumping for joy when those titles get here.
Now out of how many sonic games that they have made that were actually good besides the old ones.
Of course I want the sequel of datass! this game just become my new Devil May Cry.
i hope it's bayonetta 2, maybe part one wasn't as good as the 360 version but it was awesome!
Just looking at that pic made me want to vomit.
Bring on B2, that combat engine was all sorts of win. I still haven't gotten the finer points down yet. One more play-through on normal and then I'll try and beat it on hard. I wouldn't mind seeing a second Vanquish as well. That voice acting was pure cheesey win.
I think i heard about it. Its gonna be called Fainaru Fantajī Sebun Remake.
Keep dreaming friend.
As long as Bayonetta 2 is directed by Hideki Kamiya, I'm all set for it.
But then, Platinum really should become a first party studio, the game engine used for Bayonetta and Vanquish is ugly, though it's a beast for 60 fps.
I'd like to see Bayonetta 2 but Platinum Games has stated before that they are committed to new IP's so this may not be a sequel at all. Interesting nonetheless.
I think Aliens: Colonial Marines will prolly ship around the same time the prequel is released in theaters.
Well, I can hope anyway.
as long as its not a crap port and no baby sitting or at least keep it to a minimum then i might check it out. I really hated babysitting the little girl especially the part where you cant hurt them normally and had to use that post to beat them up.
