Maybe it's long past time you dove into a new brilliant generation of high definition and 3D technology.

If you've been missing out – or you plan on buying someone a tremendous holiday present – you should check out Amazon's new 3D HDTV deal . It only makes sense to combine the 3D and HD capabilities of certain TVs with the PlayStation 3, and the world's largest online retailer has given consumers the option to nab it all…without ever having to pay for Sony's machine or a 3D Starter package. For a limited time, you can get a free 160GB PS3 and a 3D Deluxe Starter Kit when you purchase a qualifying Sony NX810 LED 3D HDTV. All you have to do is select a TV from the list, add in the PS3 and the 3D kit, and you'll only be charged for the TV. Of course, there are some terms and conditions (as always) and the deal runs out after 11: 59 p.m. PST on December 4. Also, bear in mind that "while supplies" last caveat. You can even schedule your own delivery time and if something is wrong with the TV, Amazon allows for free returns.

Yeah, you. Sitting there with your big ol' tube TV from 1987. Wishing you had the PS3 but knowing it'd be silly to play on anything but a great HDTV. Time to step up and advance!

Very sweet deal. Ill have to tell my pops about this. He'll get a discount for being an employee. I think he'd like that. Or maybe ill just save up and get it for him. I like that idea better.

Is it really better to give than receive?

I would so love for this to be under my Christmas tree. No need to wrap it. If I were rich everyone in my family would get one. But alas.. My 3D adventures will have to wait till tax time.

Ben, something has been on my mind since I bought a HDTV; Do developers have to make two versions of one game to compensate for SDTV users? I noticed that some things are missing in SD version of Uncharted 2..for example, before patch 1.01, SD users couldn't take in-game photo's from cinema mode (theres a few more things aswell).

I wonder if developing for SD users are holding them back? Just a thought 🙂

I doubt it. Because the products are designed to be in HD, I don't think they're thinking much about SD users.

Really I was taking photos in the game way before I ever I got an hdtv. The only thing I know are about the lettering but as far as I know there is not difference besides how much you see on screen.

Careful with the LG dood. We have it on demo and god it is crap. Like the 3D glasses keep acting up and the TV pales in comparison to other 3d tvs.

And what is nice about the 3D bravia is that you have a 120degree 3D view. Some other 3d tv models will lose their *3D* and sharpness if you look at it from the sides.

So yeah the bravia is more expansive but it really does a great job. Like I think it is worth it to save 1 more month or so and get a better product 😀

That… is the FUNNIEST picture I've ever seen on this site. It is a perfect portrayal of exactly what is wrong with the current 3D tech. Even hot Asians are not safe from the Gomer effect.

Yeah and how much does this "deal" cost?

G1283
G1283

good question worldendswithme…
actually the 55'+ ps3 + starter kit is $2400
and the 46 is $2300. the ps3 and starter kit are free.oh yeah and free shipping. (i hate shipping cost) im looking at the prices right now. you have to pretend you're REALLY buying the bundle in order to see the final price.
the msrp(sony's site)of the 46 is $2800
and of the 55 is $3500

so basically you're like saving about 1G, give or take. and yeah i say its a "deal". IM SOOO EXCITED. AAAAHHHH

already boarded the 3D train years ago!
for a quarter of the cost it would of if i bought a 3D TV!
upgrading a PC for 3D is quite cheap and easy.
500 for a new monitor most come with nvidias glasses now and 500 for a new video card.
if you were to get a 3D TV you would be looking at three times that!
not to mention you get the proper 3D, none of this sub HD, 30FPS BS sony are selling you!

I see, so you like watching your movies, TV shows and playing games on a smaller screen do you? Oh I know all about the wonders of higher resolutions on a PC, but really, on such small screens the extra resolution is kinda pointless.

OTOH, a nice big TV in HD with 3D is great for TV, movies and games in 3D, HD or otherwise. I guess if you're not worrying about others in the room a monitor will be fine, but most families tend to need a bigger screen, more centrally located. So, board your little Fiat 500 equivalent of 3DTV, the rest of the world will go with the bigger, roomier family car version.

27 inches is not big enough?
eh, whatever id much rather save the 2K and put it towards games, movies than spend it on a bigger screen.
3D TVs are far too expensive now, 3000 bucks for the TV and another several hundred for the glasses.
than you also need a new HDMI 1.4 cable.
as the saying goes size is not everything, its how you use it.
