If you don't have Gran Turismo 5 just yet, maybe you'd like to see what you're missing.

In addition to the ridiculous amount of media floating around out there, we've got the full list of features : this is what the game offers for your entertainment; beyond the A-Spec and B-Spec modes, there are also a variety of special events and of course, multiple ways to "Build and Upgrade Your Car Collection." You can shop and tune to your heart's content and don't forget that your garage can store up to 1,000 vehicles…which is just downright insane. GT Auto is all about making your car shine brightly in the sunlight; pick out new rims, spring for a new paint job, give it a wash, etc. And once you're satisfied with your ride, it's time to hit the track; it makes sense to start with Practice and the available License Tests, as you can learn a lot, and those Licenses will prove invaluable. Also, as you all know, this time around, GT comes with the option of online play and you can jump into the lobby whenever you wish. Just be prepared for a definite test of skill…

Maybe you already knew all this, but it's good to be aware of all the features. Besides, after reading, it'll probably up your anticipation level even more.

No, Booze has stated multiple times that he has little interest in GT5… It's still busted Highlander. LOL

It's one thing to simply not have interest in a game… it's another to constantly downplay something with high critical acclaim…

Booze, it would be a much easier pill to swallow for people if while ignoring your distaste for GT you actually had good taste in other titles.

There is more to life than CoD, my son.

Yeah, this is something I've always wanted to see.

Some cars (TVR's cars dammit) have some of the most amazing paint jobs, and I have always wanted to re-paint them over time.

@World,

Maybe I'll get this for my best friend for Christmas, he's a car nut like you Ben. And quite insane in my opinion. He'll spend ridiculous amounts on something stupid for his car that he doesn't need but spends almost nothing on games!

Oh yeah, and, it's amazing what you can put into a game when it's on Blu Ray. Stupid DVDs ruining everybody's fun this gen…

One problem I had with GT5P was the long loading screens. Sometimes I just want to restart a race over to get a better time, but I usually end up turning off my PS3 because of the long wait. I hope the 10 gig of install will make the gameplay smooth

Tomorrow the racetracks in GT5 are gonna feel my wrath!

My favorite new feature easily has to be weather/time of day.

Can't also discount the most important thing of all, the redefined physics engine and overall minute technicalities and improvements in the driving mechanics.

Snaaake,
Here ya go….right from the GT5 site

B-Spec Mode:

Manage a stable of AI drivers as the director and manager of a racing team.
Coach them to victory and monitor their stamina.
It's possible to complete a full GT Life career in both A-Spec and B-Spec modes.

only thing they have not revealed is if they have full G27 support.
hope the paddles, clutch and rev lights work.
in prolouge they did not.
cant wait to get into those licensing tracks again, spent so long getting all of them in GT4 was soooooooo much fun!

Lawless SXE

Erm… The G27 was developed FOR GT5, was it not? It's only logical that it is fully compatible.

no, that was the logitech driving force GT.
and there not only for GT5, they have always been the official wheel for GT, tis why they have the GT logo in the center of the wheel.
as if logitech are going to make a 650 dollar wheel for just one game!

played a few races in arcade mode with a ferrari f40, loved it. Playing a spec now, lving it. dont like the jaggies on the standard vehicle's though. What ive put in so far, 9.5/10 for me. Shame the 360 fanboy on Ign doesnt agree, 8.5 that tw*t gave it.

Their complaints are valid, but saying that they wanted more than straight up races out of the online portion is laughable. And if the damage really is as bad as they make it sound, well…

It seems as if they've taken points off for the most ridiculous of reasons. Bah! It's IGN… use them for info, but avoid for reviews.
CVG gave it an 8 flat…
Peace.

Those guys are really out of their minds, at this rate, we can expect a 85 Metacritic score for GT5.

Sad but true.

___________

how can you say there out of there mind without playing it?
if what they say is accurate i think its more than fair.
they did not like the fact that PD have spent 6 years making the game, and only 200 of the cars are pro the rest are upscale PS2 models.
6 years for HD versions of cars which are a generation old?
theres a serious lack of upgrades, you cant upgrade the brakes.
the track editor is fairly limited, nothing like what MNR has.
crappy zombie like AI, which GT is notorious for.
and a crappy damage model, apparently even if you slam into a wall at top speed all you get is a disfigured polygon, not the full damage you would expect from "the true simulator".
if that is all correct, than i think a 8.5 is more than fair!

It also gave Crisis Core an 8.5. In other words, GT5 is as good for the PS3 as Crisis Core is for the PSP… Take from that what you will.

Unfortunately this is *exactly* what I expected. The major American gaming sites have an agenda, and have had the same agenda since this generation of console began. It ranges from flagrant bias against Sony, the PS3 and it's games, to more subtle bias. It's there, and it has been the entire time.

Gran Turismo could be so good that they'd get a post coital glow after playing and still IGN and others would subtract from the score and pick petty fault. The game has raise expectations to such a height that it doesn't matter how good it is in comparison to any other actual game. I should point out that IGN gave NFS Hot Pursuit a 90/100 and actually awarded Forza 3 94/100. Coincidentally, IGN also gave GT5 Prologue 85/100.

So, according to their review scores, GT5 is so much less worthy than Forza 3 that it gets 9% less of a score, and GT5 is on par with Prologue? Eh, considering the huge number of additional features, cars and tracks that is simply bullsh…..t.

It doesn't matter if GT5 is better than Forza 3, GT5 Prologue or NFS Hot Pursuit, some crappy little fanboy masquerading as a legitimate 'journalist' can still give a crap review and be taken seriously.

I call BS on IGN based on their own review scores. And don't *anyone* try to justify it by saying that different reviewers see things differently.

Here's one of the closing comments from IGN's review "Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game". You know what, I call BS on that, and on IGN and on the reviewer and on the entire gaming media if that is the kind of review that passes muster these days. I read the review, and the biggest complaints are that the standard cars aren't as good as the premium ones and that the Top Gear test track is sparse. How in hell this means that the game apparently merits a 5/10 in the reviewer's mind I'll never know.

The only possible way I can rationalize this is that the dweeb doing the review is not a Gran Turismo fan. I point blank refuse to believe that this is a 10/10 simulator wrapped in a 5/10 game. Hell, you might say that about Prologue, it was missing so many things, but now we have the full game, with everything. No, this IGN review is total trash, a scandal. But, I know that it won't matter, I know that no one really gives a damn, integrity in journalism is so hard to find these days which is why I comment here and no where else. It's small oasis amidst a wasteland of trashed integrity and broken ideals.
