The Fight: Lights Out isn't getting the best reviews, but perhaps a new patch from the developer will help.
It won't address all the problems critics have cited but it might offer a little extra incentive to play the Move-oriented brawler: according to iWaggle3D , designer Coldwood Interactive has quickly responded to some criticism and prepared a patch, which will be released soon. This update will give players the option to enable transparency on their chosen virtual fighter, which might assist in improving visibility. In truth, such a feature was actually considered during development but was ditched because it dragged the performance down, but it seems they've fixed that issue. Even with the patch, the game will still run at 60 frames per second so you shouldn't worry. Also, the update will feature a few more little tweaks and adjustments but we won't learn the specifics until next week. We're still not sure if The Fight: Lights Out is worth the price of admission but if the developer can continue to support it, the experience might become more stable and invigorating.
As for PSXE, we'll try to get you a review, but no promises. The priority list must be arranged for the coming weeks.
Related Game(s): The Fight: Lights Out
hey John should be doing some reviews lol jk
i would check this game out but i dont have 2 move's. if i ever do or i might gamefly it and take it to my buddies.
He did FIFA 11.
oh no kidding i didnt read that one. im not much into soccer
The byline says Arnold did the FIFA review.
John is a figment of Ben's imagination. 😉
This title showed promise, too bad it sucks the big one. But then, when you've never heard of the develop that isn't ever a good sign.
A developer has to start somewhere
True, they should start somewhere better though 🙂
I'm really intrigued to see a Fighting game pull something off with motion controls.
Could be dangerous if the game is really good though, you might accidentally get mad in real life and punch your friend(s) 😀
"transparency" is the last thing this game needs!
tried this out when they were showing off move a few months ago, almost stopped me from buying it the controls were so crap!
sony was touting 1:1 motion capture, but everytime i threw a punch the character would not react.
he controlled like a 12 year old, after 6 boxes of wine!
so disappointed with this. with the games i wanted for Move (Time Crisis, The Fight: Lights Out) not turning out so great, I've put off my purchase to next year…
The fight is a lot better than you think. A lot of the drawbacks seems to be connected to that the Move setup is hard to get right.

This game is more of a simulation, than a game. If you suck at throwing punches in real life, you'll suck on this. It's no secret that gamers aren't the most athletic group, which is why this game has gotten beaten up so much(pun intended)…
You need to throw real punches. If you fight like a spaz in real life, don't bother with this game, you'll hate it. If you know how to throw a proper punch, this game will be your newest and most used piece of exercise equipment
Untrue. It's the control and functionality of the game itself that has dragged down the poor review scores. You won't find a more athletic critic than me and although I only played it for a few minutes, trust me, technique is not the problem.
Keep telling yourself that Ben 🙂
And being athletic doesn't automatically make you a great puncher. I know a ton of athletes who couldn't throw a punch to save their lives when they first started combat training.
It's funny how a wrestler can look so smooth and bad ass taking someone down, but on the other hand can look so sloppy and weak when throwing a punch (if they're not used to the motion). They just don't plant their feet right and don't use the proper muscles and stance.
I'm aware of that, Fabi. Just trust me, all right?
But it's not only about throwing punches. The drawback is that you need to hit the gym for a while in the beginning of the game to build up your stats to about 30 in each skill, or mainly in technique, speed and stamina.
In The Fight, you start with an "unfit" fighter and you have to spend some time into making him fit, but once he is the responsiveness and fun you get out of the game is amazing! Problem is, alot of people like Ben for instance, haven't had the opportunity to try it for longer. And when the reviewers did the reviews of the game no one knew that you HAD to go to the gym to enjoy it. While I think it's a mistake to make the fighter so unfit in the beginning, I don't think it merits the bad reviews.
By the way, Ben, have you seen the videos I posted? According to them the game is very responsive. It's just hard to set up correctly. My advice is give it another try some day :). The last vid shows you that headtracking works as well.
It's always going to look a bit wierd since the movements arent pre-scripted. Makes it look awkward, but it's damn fun to play.
