We've all been waiting on L.A. Noire for quite some time, but perhaps the end result will be well worth the wait.

As promised, Rockstar has released a new trailer for the promising crime drama and although it's little more than a minute in length, we're definitely hopeful. For those of you who want the grittiness of a Mafia title with the extra polish and innovation, this could be a great option. Team Bondi has been working hard for years and their efforts appear to be paying off in a big way. Anybody else encouraged by what they see here?

It seems to feature great performances, some pretty character animation, and an engrossing, in-depth story. And maybe the most important part of the video comes at the end: that Spring 2011 estimate. It's still vague and we were hoping for a rock solid release date, but this footage instills confidence. We're suddenly excited for this one…

This comment would've been so epic if you hadn't included "in the GTA series".

He didn't say it would be bad, but I'm assuming he was referring to him being an actual criminal 😉

LOL! Me too but at least we know Rockstar can make good games. RDR was pretty good so ill keep an open mind about this one. I love the 1950's era.

I think Rockstar makes the best games. ALMOST like movies. ( Just what I remember & know )
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto II
Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto Liberty City
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories
Grand Theft Auto IV
Red Dead Redemption
Coming Sometime in the future
Grand Theft Auto V
L.A Noire
Max Payne 3
& This bad boy here -> Agent <- A Ps3 Exclusive.

I really do think they are the best of the best. Wouldnt you agree Jawknee?

EDIT: I think that the Midnight Club titles are made by Rockstar as well 🙂 if im not mistaken

No i won't agree they are the best. But i do agree they have talent. You know how i feel about GTA and i never got into Max Payne but Red Dead Redemption was pretty damn good. I do like how they go the extra mile with voice acting. They tend to have some of the best voice work in the games but other than that I not a huge fan of their studio mostly because their biggest games are GTA. Again, you know how i feel about that franchise.

Theres ATLEAST 1 GTA in there you must like? ( Or maybe not ) If there were only 1 GTA ever made & you didn't like it… what would you do? Diversity is a good thing. Thats why theres more than one GTA 🙂 You don't have to get em' all. Anyway, nothing to fight over im simply just sayin'.

Im looking forward to L.A Noire.
Wasnt it a Ps3 Exclusive at 1st?

I will give you there are gaming reasons to like or even love GTA as a game i just don't like the theme. Of any of them.

Yes L.A. Noire was an exclusive which is worrisome to some extent as making a game mulitplat mid development usually doesn't bode well. Look at Final Fantasy XIII, bad port to the 360 and cut content from the final game due to the lack of storage space on the 360. But who knows, maybe it will work out in the end. As i said, i really liked RDR and that was a multiplat by Rockstar, im sure L.A. Noire, will be at least as good.

Gah, Rockstar is publishing it. That is pretty much proof of quality but most of you seem to be forgetting that it is actually being developed by Team Bondi which, as far as I know, is an unproven studio.

And yes, L.A. Noire was an exclusive, but it went multiplatform when R* picked it up after Sony dropped it.
Peace.

Maybe not gameplay, but it said all in-game footage, which is mighty impressive. Maybe some of that was gameplay, and we just missed it somehow. Maybe it's like Heavy Rain, the first trailer of that was similar to this one.
Peace.

Looks good. I worry about the quality of titles when exclusivity is yanked out from under the game mid development but if this is anywhere as big or entertaining as RDR's single player campaign, I'll probably pick this up.

Now….Where are the Agent trailers Rockstar!?

I estimate that they will start showing off Agent after the release of L.A. Noire, as what I gather of the two projects is that they are quite similar, so they don't want people confusing the two. On the other hand, it may release at the end of next year and don't want people getting over-hyped for it like they did for GTA IV, so want to restrict it to a four-to-six month hype.
Peace.

Haven't seen much film noire besides Citizen Kane and 12 Angry Men (do those count?), but this game is sporting some of the most detailed facial animation I've ever seen (more in the uncanny valley than, say, U2, but U2 was going for a semi-stylized motif). It's almost like real footage that was just digitized.

SmokeyPSD

No citizen Kane doesn't count, 12 Angry Men yeah though. Great film that.

Yeah, it "looks" great. They've done a great job with the facial animations but as Noir, Heavy Rain showed a greater understanding of Noire by design of angles, lighting, story and it wasn't even the focus of the entire piece.

Some Noire films, The Blue Dahlia, Double Indemnity, The Big Sleep, Criss Cross, Scarlet Street and This Gun for Hire.

Granted, it's only a trailer but I already hate what I see. It felt like Sam and Max was inspiration. I get a really bad feeling from this. I just hope I don't start hearing this is academy award worthy! Just like GTAIV…

Because RDR was GTA: The Prequel, while here, you're playing the FBI agent from that game. So, it's backwards.

Looks wonderful, nothing like Mehfia II, this is so up my street I'm preordering. But as to their claims of showing more realism than Heavy Rain, well thats out the window.

Finally we get a glimpse of L.A. Noire, and I AM HAPPY! Seriously, that looks as good as I have always imagined. I'm not usually a fan of detective projects but this actually intrigues me. Now, if only Team Bondi can make the whole game as awesome as that trailer, it's a GotY contender.
Peace.

Voice acting sounded great. I always look forward to games that put a great story at the forefront. I wonder how the gameplay will be implemented…?
I really hope this doesn't fall short in the end. Can't wait for more info!

The facial expressions are good and the eyes haven't got that glazed look. They don't look up to Heavy Rains standard but definately a step up for a multiplat.

Interested to see the gameplay now…

Killzone 3, Mass Effect 2 and LA Noire. Definately some good early 2011 stuff out there to be looking forward to.

Awesome! It's been quite a while since I've been this excited by the name alone! I can say that it looks like a deep and twisted storyline based on what dialogue is there, but it obviously doesn't deliver much hints in how the gameplay will feel…

that said, rockstar has been good at delivering quality experiences, which is far more important than looking pretty to me. I wonder if you'll be given your own characters fate with deviations from the good guy approach. Let's face it, playing the copper who lives on the criminal edge is an interesting experience. Although, if your actions are mostly out of your control, the story will most likely be very focused on delivering an entertaining ride.. Does that make sense? Haha.

nope next year.
most games that get a release date announced for spring end up winning up getting delayed to the following year.
this has already been lurking for so long.
if this does not release till mid next year, than when the hell are max payne 3 and agent releasing!?
max payne 3 was originally suppose to be out late last year god dam it!!!!!!!!
looks like remedy should of kept the title after all.
