Well, a Halloween launch would've made more sense but as it ain't ready yet, horror fans will just have to wait.
But hey, considering the franchise's history, this one should be worth that wait. Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that F.E.A.R. 3 will be ready to freak you out on March 22, 2011. Also, if you want to get a head start and pre-order the promising scary shooter, check out the retailer-specific incentives: if you drop your deposit at Amazon, you'll net an exclusive 12-page comic book, penned by Steve Niles and illustrated by Stefano Raffaele. It's a prequel story to the plot found in F.E.A.R. 3 , if you're wondering. If you'd rather pre-order at Best Buy, you can nab The Shredder, "a high-powered sidearm designed to take down fast enemies." For those who pre-order at GameStop, you'll get The Hammer, which was wielded by the first game's antagonist, Paxton Fettel, and packs a big punch. Also, don't forget that the developers tapped horror guru John Carpenter to help make the game truly effective in terms of scare factor.
If you haven't tried a F.E.A.R. title yet, you might want to pick one up. It's half-FPS, half fast-paced Resident Evil . Kinda.

Loved FEAR 1 & 2!
"Keep the Fe3r alive"
Can't bring myself to get any of these, I'm just not tantalized. And wow, those are bad preorder incentives.
The trophies in Fear2 were nonsense. If they pull a repeat performance here I'll be in no rush to get this.
That is one thing that is wrong with this generation of games/gamers. Developers making games around trophies and gamers making a decision to buy a game because of trophies.
I, personally, haven't played a game yet and worried once about what trophies I can or can't get. I think trophies/achievements have ruined the landscape of gaming. Chalk up another one for Microsoft.
Exactly Rogers. And still I have not gotten any explanation as to *why* trophies matters this much to some. It's a cute sound when you get a trophy, sure, but other than that…?
Did i miss something?
the Fear series is still considered 'highly anticipated"??? lol
im not so sure about the terrify part.
F.E.A.R was a great game, and was slightly scary.
F.E.A.R 2 was a great shooting game but was not scary in the slightest!
i have read fairytales which are scarier!
hope im wrong about that, i really hope fear 3 does revive the horror genre but its not looking likely.
just because RE5 turned into a mindless shooter, does not mean every other once horror game has to follow suit!
i swear to god if dead space 2 suffers the same fate, the world is going to end!
IMHO F.E.A.R on PS3 looked like a bad PS2 game.
The gun fights however were fun and reminds me of a poor mans Vanquish in more ways than one.
The only real horror however, was the graphics and the frigging invisible ninja robots thingys that annoyed the hell out of you.
If they can keep the gun play and improve on the horror and bring the graphics up to 2010 standards they might have half decent game.
I think it may have been a bad port though and playing it in 2009 after Killzone 2 might have clouded my judgement… Did only pay $5 for it (traded it back for 2)… So can't complain too much!
well thanks to _______ suggestions at one time i really enjoyed playing though the FEAR searies. Can't wait till the 3rd one comes out for me it will be the forth FEAR game i've ever played. FEAR, FEAR 2 and FEAR Files.
I tried demo for F.E.A.R 2 and didnt like it a bit, bad graphics and gameplay, im not very excited for 3rd installment.
I should really pick up F.E.A.R. 2, I see it's under ten bucks from the sellers at Amazon. I like horror games, a LOT, but they need to have a strong story and characters. Which is why I'm only considering getting the second one now that it's under $10 🙂
Its shame a developer like Lith allowed themselves to be bought out by Warner, and I say this because they were such a creative developer before the whole sequel thing.
