It's all in the name. This slam-bang action extravaganza might be right up your alley and if it is, you don't have much longer to wait.

Namco Bandai has announced that Splatterhouse has gone gold for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Inspired by the popular 1988 arcade hit, this re-imagining of the game "combines visceral, adrenaline-soaked combat with horror elements to deliver over-the-top gore." …yeah, well, we figured that much. College student Rick Taylor is on a quest to save his kidnapped girlfriend, Jennifer, who is being held in the mysterious Mansion owned by the zany scientist, Dr. West. Because the good doctor has some freaky monsters roaming about, Rick needs to utilize the powers given by a mystical sentient mask that gives him supreme ability. And so, he heads out equipped with the Terror Mask and has more than a few ways to dole out ridiculous amounts of pain. The Splatter Kills should be immense crowd-pleasers; they "enable you to rip, impale, and smash your opponents into bloody pulpy masses." The game will also boast a licensed soundtrack loaded with heavy metal, which certainly fits.

Splatterhouse will be ready to shock the hell out of you on November 23. It isn't a bad time; it avoids the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood that release in previous weeks.

I may be forced to get this just for the sheer amount of violence. You have to love milking out as much blood as possible out of a person to power up the mask.

I second that, if it gets decent reviews i'm in since the violence already has me tempted.

If this brings as much joy as the original then there will be many, many horrific laughs in my household. HAHAHA

It will be pretty interesting to play as a Jason on steroids.

Gotta get this at some point, it might not be worth the full price though. I'll check the reviews for sure (Think we will get one here at PSXE?)

As long as the kills are numerous and varied and don't get repetitive I'm in.

Review? Of course. Geez, we don't miss THAT many, do we?

You also have to remember that it comes with the original arcade games so that is more bang for your buck.

I dunno, but you're only one man and you got lots to handle. Plus a lot of people in the community here seem to have a problem with gore just for gore's sake you guys tend to cater to us.

Well, I certainly prioritize, which is why you'd get an Atelier Rorona review but not all the reviews for all the sports games.

But in regards to the second thing, no, we try to review everything, regardless of whether or not we get it from the publisher. Thankfully, we get most all big releases, so… 🙂 As for Splatterhouse, it's from Namco and I'm on their list; I got Enslaved, so we should be good to go.

Also, Arnold does have a few reviews coming. Rock Band 3 and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, I believe.

Still no Mod Nation Racers review?

😉

I figure I'd get that in there before that whole crowd jumps on this.

Been waiting quite a while for this one, since before Bottlerocket got dismantled.
Prolly won't get it day 1 or anything but I'll pick it up at some point for sure.
After the last year or so in the oven it looks a tad better but oddly the thing I'm most itching for is the 2d throwback sequences.
If nothing else it'll be one of the few games I won't mind lacking custom music for… well as much anyway.

Oh and I just got deadliest warrior fyi. It's pretty fun if you're more into the ancient warriors and can get past the roster of 8. But each has 3 weapons, each with an upgrade/alternate. More will prolly come as DLC.

This is a good stuff for gore fans but the combat doesn't look great to me.
So far not impressed with the gameplay, I even doubt that a demo will change my mind.

Uh, John? November 23 is a death sentence to a game like this. You think anyone is even going to notice it's on the shelves?

Two weeks after a CoD launch is the time when the poor kids are at the store buying it.

Good point! It's definitely gonna get overlooked by the majority, but it still might do okay.

Historically, that's not necessarily true. Two weeks is usually more than enough rest time amongst incredibly fickle gamers.

Besides, I don't see CoD fans caring much about Splatterhouse and action fans caring much about CoD.
