Well, it's one of those guessing situations, but at least it's good for some discussion.

As noted by System Link citing LinkedIn, EA is on the lookout for a Lead Network Engineer. The chosen candidate will go to work on an unannounced "AAA multiplayer action game," which may or may not be something we'd recognize. So far, EA has confirmed Crysis 2 , Dragon Age II , Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II , and Dead Space 2 for 2011, but the aforementioned description doesn't seem to fit any of those. Based on what we know, this sounds like a brand new project. By the way, the LinkedIn details say the right person needs "experience with split-screen multiplayer programming," which hints at co-op offline/online, and for experience, they want someone who has "at least two titles shipped on PC or console" on their resume. "A deep passion for multiplayer games" is another must. Should we be perking our ears for a new EA game with a big-time emphasis on multiplayer?

And if so, what might it be? Oh, I know…the return of a true-blue Road Rash , with speedy split-screen awesomeness.

Since EA is taking ideas from LBP for their game Create, this could be their version of MAG. And they could be adding some split screen operations a la COD for the ultimate in multiplayer action.

MAG, or Warhawk. Then again, maybe it's some form of MMO-esque project, in which you can play split-screen? Who knows.
Peace.

"Action" is code for shooter.

Well, maybe if you're a pessimist, World. We need more "real" action games so I'm staying hopeful.

What's a "real" action game? Seriously, I can't think of any action games that translate well to MP other than FPS.

*Edit*

MP other than splitscreen.

I said "real" in response to World's "code" comment. Also, I meant action as in a beat-em-up or something. I think splitscreen would be nice so two players aren't tethered together like in most games.

I don't see why not, there is plenty of work already spent on it, seems foolish to let it go to waste.

Star Wars Battlefront I and II were 2 of my favorite PS2 games.

If you make it, I will buy it.

The only thing that come to mind is the Untitled Respawn project. They could be referring to BF3, but that has been announced. This is a bit of a head scratcher.

after seeing the title, i was going to say "how about giving us a AAA single-player action game?" but after reading about the split screen, I'm intrigued. i for one don't enjoy online multiplayers because I'd rather have my friends in the same room.

and hell yes for road rash!

EA has p***ed me off because you can't back up your games (two PS3 ylod so i lost every EA save) but road rash would make up for it a little lol

Ah yes Road Rash, nothing like swinging a chain into a competitor's face, then wathing them roll off their bike in the rear-view mirror. The only thing that made me laugh harder was gta3 and the baseball bat.

Split-screen, huh? I agree. Sounds like a racer or a shooter. Since Crysis 2 is already well, into development, and if there are no other shooters on the horizon (which i find hard to believe), then maybe another Burnout? Roadrash? Well, we can all wish, right?

The term "AAA" gets thrown around a lot by companies these days…

Nobody wants to say their game is only a "AAB" haha.

Haha true that but I mean come on, coming from EA? When was the last time EA created a truly AAA acclaimed game? And to the standards we've experienced with a lot of exclusive games this generation?

Dead Space?

While Dead Space was a really good game, I'm not sure if it quite meets AAA?

A big yawn from me….. ….until they announce they're hiring for a new AAA mystery action "Single Player mode" game.

But it's great for all the gamers who want MP & split screen.

A – Can you please stop using A's and B's in all your posts lately?…

B – I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I have to agree. SW:TFU II isn't being published by EA to my knowledge. EA is on board with SW: The Old Republic, but only because BioWare is a subsidiary of EA. That's all I know.

no, crytek UK formerly known as free radical the guys who did HAZE are now working on crysis 2.
there doing the console versions and the original crytek are doing the PC version.
i seriously doubt we will ever see time splitters 4, one can dream though.
