Shinji Mikami is best known for creating one of the industry's most groundbreaking franchises: Resident Evil .

But he's now at Platinum Games and has removed himself from Capcom. Furthermore, according to what he told VideoGamer , he'll be "keeping his distance" from the upcoming Resident Evil 6 . In fact, he says that no matter how it turned out, he'd just end up being frustrated:

"At the moment I'm nothing to do with that title, and don't know what's going on with it. I haven't heard any voices from users, so I can't really comment on that. I'm trying not to actively seek out any information about that title, because even if it comes out a good game, there will always be some moments where I think 'oh, I would have done that differently – I would have done this bit better'. Good or bad it will be frustrating either way. So I'm trying to shut myself down from that project."

Well, he may not have time these days, anyway. Platinum is working to close out Vanquish , which is due out in less than a month, and Mikami also revealed he has teamed up with Killer 7 and No More Heroes designer Suda 51 to bring us Shadows of the Damned . That, and there are whispers of a sequel to this year's titillating action extravaganza, Bayonetta . But anyway, RE6 didn't show up at the Tokyo Game Show this year and when it does hit the limelight, the mind behind the original won't be around.

Jawknee will LOVE this news!! /sarc/

But it does make you wonder if RE will become anything more than a walk-in-the-park undead shoot-em-up.

Resident Evil 5 was CRAP compared to previous entries.

Now, instead of a new RE, give us a collection!! RE4 HD would ROCK!

I loved RE5 as well and in fact because of the gold edition move compatibility its gettin another go round!

TBH I got frustrated with previous RE, that dont mean I dont think they were awesome cus they were. But this one I sat down and after about 4 hours I noticed I was still having fun with it. Thats lasted all the way through!

I really don't care where RE goes after the crap-fest 5 was. I am way interested in Shadows of the Damned though. I think anyone who rides a motorcycle should have the chance to go to hell and kill the sh%& out of some demons. I might be a bit biased though.

Wouldn't work out even if you gave me his address, I'm in California and I'm not about to ride my bike that far just to ride around some more. I'm sure Saint's a cool guy and all just not cool enough for a three day excursion when I've got bills.

Anyway, yeah Harley riders, in a general sense, are complete a$$holes who will either turn their head as you ride by them or look straight ahead like they don't see you wave. Not all are like that though. Some are cool guys.

Coverton,

<<<<<anyone who rides a motorcycle should have the chance to go to hell and kill the sh%& out of some demons.>>>>

Somebody rang my bell?
I've been known to shot the sh%% out a few demons right here above…er…never mind….
"I plead the 5th Amendment"

Anyway, to change subjects, I should get a tee-shirt with my Demon Dog's full sized pic with the following caption…

"I've been to Hell & back, and I got to show for it was Lucifer's pet".

FYI, I'm not to far from the Atlantic City N.J. area, but was in W. Covina & Santa Monica for short bits in the 70's.

And I seriously doubt you could make it in just 3 days though, cause last time I drove by car, it took 4 days non-stop with 3 of us each taking 8 hour shifts driving down I-80, stopping only for quickie gasoline, food, & bathroom breaks.

On a bike, you'd have to pull over to sleep at the very least 2 nights or you'd wind up killing yourself as the fatigue would cause you to dull your senses so much, you could wind up killing yourself.

Funny story about that trip out West trip by car though…..to top everything off, we managed to burn up the rings running non-stop ball-aSS "pedal to the metal" all the way to Cali & the car started poring white smoke out the tailpipe just as we entered L.A.city limits & we wound up being pulled over 8 time in the first hour for creating smog. Seeing how we had New Jersey plates & just got into town, we only got 8 air pollution warning tickets. So we just would up junking that old heap of a Rambler Nash

A for the type of rider I am, I'm an old school biker(think of old style "dominate" club types), all about the old school values of trust, honesty, loyalty & taking no bullsh!t. It all boils down to one single solitary word…. "RESPECT".
I can be someone's best bud, but lie to me once or think they can "F" over me, then they'll really find out why my brother's gave me the sarcastic nickname of "Saint".
BTW, I'll wave to any biker, and will stop to lend a hand & tools for a biker that broke down.
But I usually won't wave to or bother with most crotch rocket riders, around here most of them are immature 18 t0 20 something, a-holes that showboat, by going 80 in first gear on their very first bike, &/or doing wheelies & stoppies in traffic is way cool. Plus most of them don't know the word respect, never mind trying to even spell it.

I also don't get along with phony bikers, weekend biker wannabe poser's, or the RUB's who only bought their bike to just show off as a status symbol, parking it in their over sized driveway, right next to their Beemer, yacht, and Leer jet.

But those phony's will get a quick lesson in "attitude adjustment" training if they act the a$$ or show disrespect anywhere near us, because with us, our bikes are us. Our bike's are living breathing extension of ourselves, it is our soul, it is our lifestyle, just as my club is my way of life.
Other than that, nahhh, I'm(usually) just as harmless as your average teddy bear, LMFAO

Hey LV,
No, I haven't seen it, so send me the link please.

BTW, the USPS snail mail must be as frigging slow this week as "molasses in January" cause I thought I would have already received your package either Thurs or Fri, but nothing yet. Hopefully it will be here to day, 7 frigging.
days after you mailed it out.
Will keep ya posted, & should be sending mine out to ya early this week.

Just give me an HD remake of RE2 and RECV and I really don't care what they do with the series anymore since it no longer even feels like RE.

I would love an HD remake of RE2. By far my favourite RE out of all of them. After they didn't make a true sequel to that game in RE3 I lost most of my interest in the franchise actually.

Ya, it would be cool if they made a RE2.5 which explained the gap between RE2 and RE4. There are so many things Capcom can do with this series, I hope they learned a thing or two from DeadSpace and go back to the series beginnings with the next RE.

I see, that's it. Since Shinji Mikami left Capcom, Capcom's lost it's soul. So, although he can't give us DMC and RE, will be getting Bayonetta and Shadows of the Damned. Makes sense, now.

I actually loved RE5 and it easily became my second favorite in the series, behind RE2. the only thing I could do without is the tag team aspect — survival horror games are always better if it's just you, not with a teammate — and the quick time events. I liked the tank-like controls of RE still, 'cause it makes for some pretty tense moments, but I would prefer something more akin to Dead Space for the next RE. Dead Space out did RE5 in the horror/scare aspects, that's for sure.

But I still liked the game a lot.

I dunno.

Jawknee

The problem with RE5 is it didn't know what it was. Action or Horror, Gears or Resident Evil. The game was a disaster in my opinion. Easlily the biggest dissapointment for me this generation. I followed this game very closely before release. We were supposed to see things like light, shadow and heat play a major roll. They promised scares and in the end they stripped it all out, turned it into a halfass action game with zero fright and a whole lot of Fail.

And what the hell were they thinking turning Wesker into Neo?

The way I see this is even though the big Japanese game publishers have lost their way, being both confused and allured by western success, it is not as if the Japanese have entirely given up on developing proper eastern inspired games.

It looks as though many are just as frustrated as we are and are willing to leave behind their cherished series in order to pursue proper Japanese inspired, and successful, games.

Capcom pretty much has. They only games they still seem to develop inhouse are their fighting games. Everything else is carted off to some Western developer.

I didn't play 5, but it didn't look that terrible, except for all the inventory management with two people, and AI partners always seem to suck. I'm not going to write 6 off just yet. Who knows, they might decide to make some sort of horror game out of it again. I mean, it's possible.

Mikmai was the one injecting horror into the franchise. Unless they have some Mikami clone over there at Capcom, it's likely well see another Gears of Evil.

Funny, though. Your tirade makes sense. One should read a book, watch a movie, play a game, before commenting on it…but regarding a distanct land, different culture? Forget about it. Youtube will do the trick. </sarc>

Jawknee
Jawknee

Please shams that part of the world and their culture still lives in the 7th century and you don't need YouTube to understand that. Im not going to debate you about your religion but your denying the obvious when you act as if there isn't a very, very, very large segment of your fellow religious believers who are making the world worse and a much less safe place for us all it makes if hard to take you seriously. Where ever there is a problem with terrorism or oppression, 95% of the times coming from Arabs states and theocratic regimes who claim they are doing it in the name of Allah.

I have debated Muslims from this site in the forums and I was surprised(though I suppose I shouldn't be)at what they were willing to admit they would do to gays, woman and non muslims because their "holy Quran" told them too. People who have commented here in the past, who seemed like reasonable people were willing to admit they would be ok with hanging a homosexual because Allah forbids homosexual acts. We don't need to visit Iran or Afghanistan to know they are oppressive hell holes. One of my best friends is an Iraqi and she tells me all the time what horrors were committed against her and her fellow Christians in her homeland simply for being Christian. Not good enough? I have a Christian friend who had to flee indonesia because her town would get raided and plundered, people beaten and murdered in the name of Allah. This was just less than 10 years ago. There is a problem in that part of the world and it all has one common thread.

Look, I have no problem with you, or what religion you believe in. You don't advocate terrorism or any f the horrorific acts committed in your religions name, but you gotta wake mang and realize there is something seriously wrong with too many muslims today. Not all of them are terrorists but too many of them are and it's a problem not just for the US but for the poor people living under this tyranny.

Look up pictures of what Iran used to looks like before the "Iranian revolution.". They were free and didn't look a whole lot different than we did in the 70s before the Islamic take over. Now gays are hung, woman are stoned to death and men are flogged for drinking alcohol. Also, the supreme leader just banned music for being unislamic. You know that?

Actually I never said one has to fully complete a particular subject matter in order to comment on it. I said one should invest some time in the subject matter if they wish to engage in a serious conversation on it.

Thankfully there are books and movies to help educate people on things such as different cultures, and places not within one's travel distance. Nice try though with your weak a$$ defense.

I think it's great that France has officially banned Burkas and I also think it's great that you never disprove anything I say but rather ask if I'm drunk or claim I'm ignorant.

I do value my own life and I value the lives of others. Especially the poor souls who have to live under the horror that is the "Islamic revolution" and the Taliban. While we speak out against it you make excuses for it and tell us to read a book to understand their culture. No thanks, I don't need to understand where murders and oppressors are coming from.

Anyways, no more from me. At least we can discuss games in a reasonable manner.

Btw, Jawknee, "Allah" means "THE God" in Arabic, whether you're Jewish, Christian, or Muslim (they all use the term). Just thought you should know so, so you can avoid sounding like an ethnocentric hill-billy. But if that suits you…

@Shams
After studying various religions, the one thing that separates Christianity from other religions is the theme of 'love'. At the time, Christ (whether you believe him to be the son of God or not is irrelevant) taught a radical faith about love. And he wasn't a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He hung out with the dregs of society trying to better the lives of the people who suffered.

Other religions, including Islam, seem to have founders that hang out with people in power. Christ was the son of a carpenter… and he had no political power. Something very unique in the world of religion.

These simple facts alone, nevermind many others, separate Christianity apart from religions like Islam.

Besides, anything is believable so long as it's got at least PART truth involved.

Anyways, I will say no more, because I believe video game forums are absolutely NO place for religious discussions. Feel free to PM me in the forums if you wish to have a discussion or get some of my thoughts.
