TGS 2010: Disgaea 4 Dated For Japan

You probably won't find this info at big sites but I know we have an abnormal number of role-playing fans 'round here. …and I like that. 😉

Anyway, according to GamersMint citing an inside TGS 2010 source, Disgaea 4 is confirmed for a February 24, 2011 release in Japan. They'll even get a special Limited Edition, which will include an art book, the official soundtrack on CD and even a mini-nendroid figurine. We only have baseline details on the game thus far, but we do know it'll feature a "huge scale" and include various "network options." For the record, the game hasn't been announced just yet; we're only going on this "inside source" for now. But we have to assume it's coming, as this is a very popular franchise, and the only question is when it'll arrive in North America (and Europe). The Disgaea games almost always find their way over here eventually and hopefully, we won't have to wait too long. If you're into JRPGs – especially ones that have some semblance of strategy – you're probably a big fan.

By the way, those same fans might be interested in Atelier Rorona , which I now have in my possession. Expect a review soon.

Very exciting news. I love this series and can't wait to put an absurd number of hours into the next game.

Some semblance of strategy I can handle, Disgaea 3 I couldn't. Love the japanese-ness and characters and narrative, but it was too much strategy for this jrpg lover.

Question Ben, does Atelier Rorona have that chessboard strategy thing going on too or is it more like a regular JRPG as opposed to SJRPG?

Hey world its a turn based rpg from gust. I love their turn based battle systems. Your also an alchemist and you synth items based on items and recipes you find.

Atelier Rorona has traditional JRPG-style turn-based combat. But it's needs to be noted that combat isn't really the focus of that game. It's an old-school Atelier game (here 'old-school' refers to back before they even started localizing the games) which means it's much more about resource/time management and item synthesis. Don't expect some kind of epic save-the-world kind of plot, either.

Hey guys can you give me your PSN IDs??

I have disgaea 3, I'm like 75 hours in it, I'm in finale chapter, I have 9 illegal tickets, have 3 characters in the 400-500 levels and my mage (the one that geoffrey gives you at the beggining of the game) level 700.

I am really amazed by the dept of this game, and i would really like some help about all of it.

As a quick question, how do you know the rank of an item?? I am at customer rank of 12, that´s the maximun right??

i´d really apreciate some help.

@ Snake Theres a guy in the item World that sells some of them. You have to be above floor 50 in a high ranking item and he might appear though a mystery Gate.

@ Hellish Devil

My PSN ID is SilentMurder feel free to add me if you need any help, also while Customer Rank 12 is the highest it Rank 12 isnt. Stronger Weapons can be found in high ranking Item Worlds(It goes to Rank 40 i thnik).

HOLY CRAP FINALLY!!!
This mean we'll also see an english version in 2011 as well assuming it doesn't take them a year to localize it.

I really can't wait for this one!!!

It won't take a year. This is a NIS game and NISA (their localization/publishing branch in the US) gives priority to NIS games.

Unfortunately it usually takes them well over a year to localize Gust games…*sigh*.

Oh God… I think is perfect timing. I´ll get a plat (hopefully) in disgaea 3 when this arrives.

Disgaea 3 is my first SRPG (besides Valkyria Chronicles, which doesn´t count cause it isn´t chessboard-like) and I F*CKING LOVE IT!!! It has so many things to do, so much room for customization.

I *heart* Disgaea 3

I see great amounts of praise for Disgaea 3 floating around here and I have to ask, is it anything at all like Final Fantasy Tactics? Might have to give it a try. Always loved strategy RPGs.

I would say similar in gameplay with the grid-based strategy system but it has a very different feel to it. The story is hilarious and over the top (as is the gameplay depth with leveling up to 9999 and billions of points of damage later on) and there is a lot of poking fun at gameplay mechanics. I enjoy both games for very different reasons.

I completed everything there is to do in Disgaea 3, and am eagerly awaiting more Disgaea goodness. 🙂
