Not long after giving us the Ultimate FAQ for PlayStation Move, Sony decided to provide current and would-be Plus consumers with their own FAQ.

Recently posted over at the PlayStation Blog , all the basics are covered, including cost, service details, and relative perks. But perhaps one of the most important aspects of the rundown is the part concerning exclusive betas: as some of you know, one of the biggest reasons to become a Plus member is the onset of Plus-exclusive beta tests for certain games. That remains true – and in fact, they confirm that two such tests are on the way – but there's a bit more complexity beneath the surface. Here's some explanation by PSN Marketing Manager Lex Scheuble:

"Many game betas are done to test certain parts of a game or certain functionality (like previous game add-on integration) so that when the final version of the game launches, it’s the best it can be. Oftentimes, betas are extremely limited as well. We need to ensure that members of Plus meet that individual beta’s requirement to be issued an exclusive invite."

And it goes one step further- being a Plus member doesn't automatically guarantee you a slot in those exclusive betas. As Scheuble says, these tests "have limited invites" and specific qualification criteria, due to what the developer wishes the beta participants to test. Currently, Sony is "working with game developers to make qualified PlayStation Plus members the first to gain access."

Unfortunately, there's no real way of knowing if you're qualified as it's "different for every game" but we're told to expect details soon. So, when you hear news about Plus-exclusive betas you wish to try, remember to see if you fulfill the other criteria as well.

Well, this doesn't really come as a surprise concerning the requirements.

My guess would be that most requirements will circulate around things like connectivity, time-of-day you're available, how often you play, how long you would be willing to play for, and, of course, HDD space available etc.

Obviously, system specs aren't an issue with PS3 testing.

What I'm really interested in hearing about, is what those games that need testing are going to be!

I'd think that they'd also be happy with gamers that spend a long time with a game, so if you have platinum'd a game in the same series or genre, you might move up the list.

Shouldn't be a suprise to anyone. Personally, I am still waiting for some content or reasons to join Plus anyways.

I'm glad some of you don't find it surprising…in my experience, "members" of anything often consider themselves to be entitled to…well, just about everything.

I know, I was like "Why are these people upset that they haven't gotten a beta invite yet?" There were never any promises that you would get into all of them.

You speak truth Ben. It seems that very entitlement is only getting worse.

Glad im not one of those people either.
I just think that being a plus member should be a statistic thrown in to help in the decision. Obviously with over 14million users the invites are based on statistical data, and + membership should just be another check mark.

Well, on the Playstation Blog they feel as Ben writes.

Though I always suspect 90% of the negative Nancys on the PS blog are 360 fanboys with nothing better to do with their time.

There is one guy who, on every store update post, gives a tally for:

“PS1 Legacy – 1
PS2 Legacy – 0
PS3 Legacy – 0

How pathetic Sony. When the hell are you going to get your act together. Fail!"

That isn't a direct quote. I'm paraphrasing the sentiment of dozens of posts from this guy week after week. It's like he's on an anti-Sony crusade.

I wouldn't call testing a glitch ridden piece of software a 'perk' anyway. I've got retail releases to finish.

I'm cool with not being a part of beta tests. I didn't see them as an incentive to subscribe to plus. I have no complaints with the subscription.

gotta love how they tell you this AFTER you join.
so in other words its limited spots so you may never get in, even though when i paid my 70 for PSN+ it said exclusive beta access.
only sony would charge you for something, than not give you what you paid for.

They said exclusive beta access which is precisely what they describe.

IIRC they also said early and exclusive access to demos – which sounds more like what you want since they want beta testers not gamers who want to beat the Joneses to the next big game.

yes, but by what their saying its luck of the draw you could be a + subscriber for 5 years straight and never get a invite.
unlikely, im sure they will shuffle it so say if the beta can only have 500 people than people who already got a previous one wont get picked for this but they did not say that there doing that so who knows.
they have not said how there choosing the people, if its just luck of the draw, or who is more active, or who has been in more betas.

Since this article is about PSPlus, I'll just say I'm kinda surprised more people not really interested in Plus. Yeah I joined it right away when it came out and I'm loving it, and I understand not everyone feel the same way, but I really hope more people will support everything on PS3. Just saying.

yeh everyone was complainin that they had plus and none of the betas well they didnt specifiy what ones you would get….the closed ones i highly doubt you will get as that would be givin it to the public
as a beta tester….we test games for problems and report feedback to the developers not to just play em b4 they come out tho obviously that is a perk of being a tester

but plus memebers will probably only ever get into the public beta as the qore memebers did
