It's not about the game. It's about…well, you know what it's about.
Bayonetta is one of the lookers in the video game world, a curvaceous vixen who somehow makes glasses sexy, and manages to combine blindingly fast ass-kicking with a stripper-like flaunting of feminine wares. Perhaps you're a fan. Maybe you're not a fan of the game, per se, but you're a fan of her . Of course, most all men are fans of that impossible figure but are they big enough fans to pay $500 for that figure…?
Kotaku has noted that Japanese model-maker Volks has completed their Bayonetta 1/4-scale figure, and as you take a gander at the pics, you can decide for yourself: is it worth the price? For most, probably not. But hey, there are some pretty hardcore collectors out there and when it comes to an exclusive, intricately designed piece like this, it's a must-have, right? Unsurprisingly, Volks wanted to capture the pose and attitude…they're only missing the lollipop.

Nice doll….but not $500 nice.
Technically not a doll, but a character figure.
@ TheHighlander: Just to clarify….it is a doll. It is an "action figure" which falls under the category of dolls.
Yeah it's a pretty sexy doll; worth the price of admission, I think not!
Whatever you say, my wife collects Asian ball-jointed dolls (BJDs) such as the ones made by Volks as well as those from other Asian and US manufacturers. Non articulated figures are always listed and sold separately from the doll lines.
These are character figures, for display, not action figures for play. There is a difference. As such, they are not dolls.
According to Volks this is a resin figure. The actual product page (translated) describes these figures as an 'unpainted resin garage kit'. The painted ones are described as 'painted statue'.
Here's the actual catalog page, you'll need to translate unless you can read Japanese;
As you can see, not dolls.
You're commenting on a video game site.
…maybe your "cred" as a to-cool-for-school guy has already taken a hit.
Well, who ever said I wasn't a geek? I probably have a 'geek' T-shirt somewhere. Good grief, techies commenting about video games, and occasionally Anime and RPGs, can it get any more geeky?
No, I know. But to be pedantic on whether someone calls something a doll or a character figure? Come on.
This coming from the two guys who think it's rape to joke about rape and Hiroshima… As if OhYesss and Chubbs have any credibility to talk about what discussion topics are ok to discuss.
just stop correcting people, geez, its argumentative…
Anyway, I use the word doll to describe a certain girl i might be talking about, "she's some doll", but she's not actually a doll either!
And if someone corrected me.. they 'ud get the quer doin.. 😛 i kid
god damn i peoples views on vocab/grammer
$500 could buy me more video-games. I wonder if they'll offer a lesser detailed PS3-edition of the statue for less =p
side note: Vanquish demo is already up on Xbox Live
I hope that the PS3 version doesn't have this horrible blurry image filter which looks like that cheap and crappy anti-aliasing Quincunx method seen in many early multi-plat PS3 games…. anyway, disappointing.
Well It Is a demo, but who knows It could look like that. But I hope not, It looks like a lot of fun to play from the video I've seen.
I don't know It looks more fun than Brink would be but that's my opinion.
Yeah, it is demo. And maybe the affect is accentuated because my 360 is connected to my computer monitor(I sit closer because of it) and my PS3 is connected up to my living room HDTV–yeah, center stage =p
Maybe it's just because I'm grumpier playing games in the morning, but I had other gripes about the Vanquish demo as well… Maybe I like my shooters slower and more tactical and my hack n' slash action games faster.. I dunno.
Yea, I hear you on that Temjin. It depends on my mood I'll want fast paced and sometimes slow paced. I like the slow tactical side to things over fast paced but It changes for me.
Yeah, but how does it play?
I don't mean to come off sounding like a fanboy, but how can Xbox Live get the demo first when PSN gets its updates first (psn gets updated on Tuesday while XBL is Wednesday). Besides, with the PS3 as the lead platform I thought PSN might get it first.
It controls great. There's a learning curve to be had. Getting use to the eb and flow takes a little adjusting. Vanquish is the result of what happens when Gears meets Bayonetta. Now that I'm more awake and have some food in me, my overall impression of the game is more positive than before.
My gripes: Obviously the blurry, washed-out graphics (yeah, World called it out a few days ago)
I run out of ammo before killing the cool transforming boss–I can't move on?. My support allies are stupid and get in way of my sliding.
The dialogue between the main guy and the girl is reminiscent of MGS… it really lacks in this department. ..I;ll stop here, I'll go into more detail when there's a proper article generated for the game.
Sonic, you came off sounding like a fanboy =p
I don't know, the demo is on LIVE. Hey, maybe the LIVE kids need some extra love'n because of their price hike…
"But moooom, I need an extra $10 for LIVE. "
"Sorry, Johnny, you need to stop playing those expensive 'nintendo' games and do your homework!"
"It's HALO MOM!–get it right"
"That's it GO to your room"
LOL, I think the Volks one is better than the original…
Volks are perhaps better known for their articulated Anime character dolls. Though they do make some great painted resin character figures.
Here's another Volks 1/4 scale figure. I might be interested in this one…
Or this one (it's cheaper)…

This is just ridiculous. I feel sorry for whoever actually pays.
You would be surprised what people will pay for character figures and other objet d'art…
No, seriously. Collectors will pay lots of money for various things. Why would anyone pay millions for an oil painting that is 100s of years old?
she still looks too much like Sarah Palin to me
Now that you said that, I'm starting to see a slight resemblance as well.
offtopic, The game at 19.99 on best buy , perfect price to get this because after the install/patch it becomes very playable!.
Impossible figure? What are you, from Minnesota?
No, from the US.
Take a look around.
Other impossible figures… Barbie! I don't know about Bayonetta, but if a real human being had Barbie's shape, they would collapse. (Experiments have been done!)
On an off topic note, just got an email that I'm in the PC beta test for FFXIV!!!
LOL! IIRC by scale, Barbie's waist is too small by far…
I'm with Ben on this one, real women just don't have these figures, not on their own anyway. With a few enhancing garments perhaps, for a short time, it will look like they do. But ultimately that's not sustainable.
As a Minnesotan I resent that… well sorta…
Sorry WorldEnds I was just trying to make a funny. Truth is, dimensions are not what make a woman beautiful. Being a gamer makes a woman beautiful.
I'm sorry, I think she's one of the ugliest looking, video game female leads, that I can think of right now. There's is nothing attractive about her at all. Just because she has a Mick Jagger swagger and wears tight clothes, does not in any way make her a good looking female character.
I want Faith (Mirrors Edge), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Chloe and Elena (UC2:AT), Rubi Malone (W.E.T.), Sheva Alomar (RE5) even Ms. Pacman over Bayonetta. Why anyone in their right mind would pay $500 on her I'll never know…
Seriously please, someone explain the attraction to this Witch!

Man, that's just weird.
Yep, sure why not…Bayonetta's got nothing on Ms Pacman and her lil red shoes and red bow in her hair. When she flashes them eyes at ya, you know you're getting some action, and the way she gobbles stuff up, oh hell yeah give me some of that!
Lol! I would go with sheva since the model who portrayed her is hot!
Pretty sure we can't change your opinion. It'd be like trying to tell me Cameron Diaz is hot.
Actually I think I can agree with you Ben regarding Cameron Diaz, I don't get the big deal with her either!
Regarding Bayonetta though, I can agree to disagree 🙂
Didn't really like the game at all but they definitely made her look sexy.
Only Xbots would spend $500 for a Bayonetta doll…or Tea Party die-hards.
Cameron Diaz is as overrated as 75% of the women in Hollywood. Give me Julianne Moore anyday.
I'll wait for the Vanquish demo to appear on PSN. The PS3 is the lead platform for it so I'll play it on that. I logged off of XBLA to buy Dead Rising 2: Code Zero just now, I don't want to go back online.

Anyone would spend $500 on an action figure. As much as i like Bayonetta, I think I'll have to pass on this piece of art (the price dont do it for me). 🙁
i just hate that psn store updates so damn late. i live in vegas and the store usually updates around 5pm everytime.
Glasses are already sexy on chicks.
true, but i dont like it when the glasses are purely cosmetic or decorative.
I don't care what anyone else dislikes about her, I think Bayonetta's look is the bomb!
Come on now, a tall gal who's all legs, wrapped in wisps of sultry leather bindings.
And all topped off with a tongue wetting her lips & a pair of sexy…….shades too????
Damn, if they had only made her figurine full scaled as a leggy 6'something(and if I had $500 to throw away every day), she'd be standing right inside my door, daring anyone to step in and play "stupid is as stupid does". LOL
This gonna sound weird but Bayo isn't fotogenic LOL , but she sure look hot has hell when you play the game.
damn straight, long legs are hot. i was watching grown ups the other day on my ps3 and that scene with the girl checking whats up with her car was just…..damn..
(OK, not sure what just happened to my post, but this was for just2skillf00l down below)
You're preaching to the choir in the glorious house of worship called….
"Pure Holy Sexiness".
My brothers, can we get another Amen????

why a 1/4th scale. it has to be 1:1 or it aint worth it. although i still wont buy it though, just figured that if you're gonna buy something like that, those customers should be able to dry hump it. hahaha.
1/4 scale is about 17-18 inches tall, perfect for a display cabinet or shelf in a collector's display.
