Sega’s New Registered URL Indicates Valkyria Chronicles 3?

Many fans of the original were disappointed to learn the sequel would be exclusive to the PSP, but that doesn't mean there won't ever be another installment for the PlayStation 3.

In fact, there's every indication that Valkyria Chronicles 3 will bring the popular and critically acclaimed series back to Sony's home console. While ardent VC followers are still petitioning to get that PSP-exclusive entry on the PS3, they might soon abandon their desire if Sega announces VC3. As Andriasang points out, there's a new URL called "Valkyria3.jp" and with a little research, it was found that Sega owns it. You need to enter a username and password at the site so you won't find anything right now, but it was recently registered on May 31, 2010. Unsurprisingly, Sega also owns valkyria2.jp (registered June 29, 2009) and valkyria.jp (registered August 3, 2007), so this third site seems to fit right in line and point towards the impending arrival of Valkyria Chronicles 3 . It's a common assumption that this new title won't be on the PSP, or if it is, it will also be made for the PS3. So now, all we have to do is wait to see if Sega has something to announce; perhaps they'll spill the beans at the Tokyo Game Show next month.

For those of you who don't own a PSP, you might still want to try the original VC. If you like strategy/RPGs, it should be right up your alley.

Just like UC2 and MGS4, it's a crime if you have a PS3 but you never played VC.

I can't say this is a favourite but at least I had some fun with the first VC.

I own Valkyria Chronicles and i LOVE it. I own Uncharted 2 and… is good. But I tried the MGS4 demo and I didn't like it. I also played MGS3 and I didn't like it either. So no MGS love from me.

Wish VC1 had trophy support… wish VC2 was on PS3… Perhaps VC3 will be a beacon of light in the darkness!

I knew an announcement like this would be coming before long. It's a safe bet it'll be for the PS3, there's just no way they wouldn't make another VC for PS3. I hope that once this announcement is official it'll shut the trap of everyone complaining about the PSP sequel. I, for one, am very excited about it. I hope it can push a few of those reluctant PS3 owners who haven't yet to buy a PSP and see what they've been missing.

I don't understand people complaining about the PSP version. It's extremely an logical idea to do a PSP version, especially as PSP games sell really well in Japan. Instead of whining about the PSP version not being on the PS3, perhaps they should get to their local Gamestop and buy a used PSP to play it?

I think the way it aught to go is the way Kingdom Hearts is doing it. Release all the portable spin-offs you want, but keep the numbered titles on the console. That's why people rage.

Highlander,

Should one really have to pay $150 or so to play a game's sequel?

I agree with World: by all means, make Valkyria Portable, but make it a remake of the PS3 game or an offshoot.

Fane,

Of course not, but then there are lots of other reasons to get a PSP besides Valkyria Chronicles 2.

Just to name a few…

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
God Of War: Chains Of Olympus
God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta (soon)
Little Big Planet
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Resistance: Retribution
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
N+

Not to mention all the great mini's and downloadables like flow, monsters, etc…

Oh yeah, and all those great PS1 classics up on the PSN. You can take'em with you on your PSP.

It also doubles as a digital photo frame, MP3 player (can do both at the same time!), and video player…

So no, I wouldn't buy a PSP just for the Valkyria Chronicles sequel. I'd buy it for the library of great games available and all the extra things it can do.

Excellent. I will be looking forward to VC3 now.

The PSP version looks great, and I actually hope that they continue the series (or make other games in the genre) for the PSP as I think they could be well suited to a mobile platform as long as missions can be devices that take between 10-20 minutes to complete. The game looks great on the PSP, and it doesn't look like they really cut any corners to bring the game to the smaller platform.

Definitely want another on the PS3 though. Especially as I expect they will be able to do even more than before. It should be Epic.

For sure. With the success of the first game and an established foundation already built, they should be able to throw a little more resources towards the next PS3 iteration to make it even better. I try to avoid letting this happen, but my hopes are high, really high!

Oh… HELL YES! Y'know, I never thought I'd be saying that about Valkyria Chronicles. Didn't expect to enjoy it at all. I'd love to see where they take the third one in regards to the story, and I'd also love to see the implementation of multiplayer (Another thing I never thought I'd say). Thank you for delivering this potentially great news.
Peace.

I didn't think I'd like it either, but with so many PSXE members all over it I had to take the plunge. The people here are right more often than not.

I think this will be great – PSP or PS3, hell I'm a happy gamer. However for those people who desperately think it's much better suited for the PS3, I remember SEGA saying something that if you really want Valkyria 3 on PS3 – buy Valkyria 2.

Or maybe that's just my imagination and SEGA actually meant – if you want a Valkyria 3 buy Valkyria 2. Either way – it's gonna rock!

After I'm done with my first playthrough on Demon's Souls, I'll definitely try VC.

VC was a real surprise for me. It's a series they could really do something with. Unfortunately I don't do a lot of gaming on my psp so I'll be content to wait for VC3.

I still have to finish the first one, its sweet but it's really been a whirlwind of awesome games for the PS3 these last 2 years and I keep getting caught up in it. VC3 is a lock.

A lock, you say? Even if, dare I say, it is an MS exclusive?
