The special editions for many big games will be on store shelves this holiday season. One of the year's best certainly deserves one, right?

Several retailers around the Internet are listing an Ultimate Edition for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 , including Amazon and UK online seller ShopTo.com . Evidently, it could be ready to go on August 31, and it'll even feature the previously released downloadable title, Battlefield 1943 . The Ultimate Edition should also include plenty of extra DLC already released for the game, including the co-op Onslaught Mode, 6 Limited Edition Unlocks, and special VIP downloads packed into new copies of the title. Neither EA or DICE has said anything about this but for now, we'll just assume it's coming; if you haven't enjoyed Bad Company 2 just yet, you're missing out on what many consider to be the best FPS of 2010 thus far. Granted, the fall will bring Medal of Honor , Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops , but they'll all have to be pretty amazing to surpass DICE's awesome effort.

The question is, what special editions will you spring for? It seems as if every major release this fall is gonna have one…  At least this one is the standard $60.

If they're gonna include 1943, then they need to sort out the major lagging issues as of late!

Meh…It's pretty cool for newcomers, but I already own the DLC and 1943. It is a pretty good deal for newcomers though. (If its real that is)

This is a really good deal for the new players as mackid1993 said. 1943 is an awesome downloadable title… one of my favorites. I already got everthing though. Oh and onslaught is a blast to play on hardcore. Pure co-op goodness.

Am I the only one upset that DICE never released any type of DLC for 1943? Seriously, they should've definitely supported that game more.

rented and played through it but I really liked Battlefield 2, It didn't have all the bells and whistles of COD but the fewer and simpler things I enjoyed in Battlefield 2 really made it stand out for me, definitely going to pick this up to own

I'll get the most expensive special edition of the FFVII remake if that ever comes out. Until then, no special editions for me! MWA HAHA!

you can pick up the limited edition of Gran Turismo 5 for $200,000
(2011 audi r8 included), or Arkum City for $ 1.5 million with Batmobile… 😛

So far, there is no limited edition for Gran Turismo 5. Also, your pricing is wrong since an R8 can be had from $78,000.

This "release 6-12 months later with DLC" routine is getting troublesome…

Imo, these are a waste because by the time they come out most gamers have moved on to the latest and greatest war themed FPS or other FPS and you have a hard time even finding a match to play online.

Now if more DLC was oriented toward the single player campaign then that would be something I would be on board with, but until then (never), forget it.

If by "troublesome" you meant "AWEsome", then I agree.

I want it all on the disc and at a discount; how is that a bad thing?

Maybe it'll even offset the absurd trend of games being SO focused around the release date.

I kind of like them for a lot of reasons.
I only play SP mode so I'm in no rush to get a d1p, I don't buy any DLC, and since I'm a collector, there's way toooo many games coming out on different platforms, so that I have to wait 6 months to a year to get a lot of them.

So now, I can usually pick up the game and all it's DLC on the super-cheap, just like I got the GOTY version Fallout3 which included all 5 expansion packs, and NEW for only $39.99.

i was not talking about the MP, i was talking about the SP.
though give them a break its a beta im sure they will make massive improvements from the beta.
DICE are perfectionists, its not like them to release a crappy title.
thus why i was so shocked and disappointed with BFBC2!

I THINK THEY SHOULD TRY FIXING IT FIRST, THEY WONT EVEN ACKOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS, WHEN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LAG ON THIER FORUMS THEY DELETE YOUR POST AND LOCK YOU OUT.

I just picked up an earlier edition, but i had 1943 since it came out just out. I still love and play 1943 for the obvious reasons…man i love those vehicles AND the shooting with rifles.

BFBC2 is pretty damn awesome, love the sound, echo and boom of fire. Vehicles are properly waited and makes driving them more realistic.
Good assortment of weapons, awesome graphics.
Everybody whose a fan of shooters should get this, i also own and still love MW2, both are great and both compliment the other well too.
