It looks like you'll have to wait a bit longer before you can live the virtual high life.
Earlier this year, Atari announced they would finally deliver a sequel to the 2006 title, Test Drive Unlimited , and it would drop in late 2010. However, developer Eden Games requires more time to polish up the multiplayer experience, so they're pushing back the release date . It's now going to launch some time in the first quarter of 2011; Eden's senior producer Nour Polloni has said they'll also use the extra time to incorporate consumer feedback. By default, the scheduled beta test has been delayed to reflect the new estimated release window. But if you've already signed up for the beta, Eden would like to offer a consolation for the delay by giving you an exclusive in-game item (which has yet to be announced). If you're unfamiliar, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is all about fast cars and a fast-lane lifestyle; it'll boast a revamped single-player mode plus the opportunity to create in-game clubs comprised of your online Friends. It's the closest you'll probably get to a multi-million-dollar home on an island with supercars in the garage.
Essentially, you will live the experience, which certainly sounds appealing. Too bad we have to wait, but the final product should be entertaining.

Hmm, sounds like they were just scared of all the other AAA titles dropping end of this year like GT5, LBP2, COD:BO, Asscreed 3….
GT5 is enough to be scared of, I'll have more time for GT5 now! 🙂
well when GT5 comes out, this game will be obsolete.
I almost put my pre-order in. Glad I'm waiting.
I think a lot of non-racing games are afraid of GT5. I was looking foward to this but it might be worth checking out.
Well obviously they don't want to try and compete with gt5 and it's smart of them to not try when they can obviously see how many people are waiting specifically for gt5.
I never played the first test drive unlimited, but honestly other than gt5 the only racing game I'm interested in is Need for speed: Hot pursuit.
I always loved running from the cops in all the need for speed games where that was option and now to be able to chase your friends or be chased by them is going to be sweet.
Smart move. The 800lb gorilla is about to take the stage, no need to limit your possible market by launching along side that.
Aww gutted, was really looking forward to this but it gives me more time to enjoy GT5.
Guess we'll all have to wait to spend our in-game millions.
I wanted to pick up this game, but it was to close to GT5. I would be spending all my time in GT and not taking unlimited 2 off the shelf for a long time. now I just might pick it up.
The only Test Drive I played was the original on the PS2(one of my first games), and I loved it, but I doubt this game would be anything like the first.
I had both demos for TDU and really enjoyed it though I always felt as though it was aimed more towards multiplayer than single player. I hope they fixed that.
and another one bites the dust.
im thinking of buying the rights to those words, they could make me into a billionaire!
if i had a nickle for every time a game got delayed………..
That's good, actually, because I wouldn't have been able to buy it in Q4, as I am already planning to buy GT5 and Black Ops.
To me this is good news provided they make the game better. The only racing game im waiting for is GT5 but i wouldn't mind a good street racer…but i hope the physics are at least somewhat challenging here.
