When it was announced that Yakuza would appear on the PSP, we learned that protagonist mainstay Kazuma Kiryu wouldn't be involved.
Therefore, some fans were wondering if we had seen the last of the bad-ass with the bad-ass tattoo and the bad-ass butt-kicking ability. But you needn't worry: according to Andriasang , Sega has announced two characters for the next Yakuza title on the PlayStation 3: Goro Majima and yes, Kazuma Kiryu. Both of these characters will be playable and perhaps surprisingly, the one image shown by Sega is of Kiryu holding a very large gun…which is in stark contrast to previous games, because this guy is all about brutal melee. Said series director Toshihiro Nagoshi:
"It's said that if Kiryu doesn't appear, Yakuza cannot begin. However, when we revealed Majima as the first main character, in addition to the reaction of 'You can use Majima this time!' it was widely said that 'Kiryu is gone!' and 'It's a game exclusively with Majima,' so we wanted to quickly get out information about Kiryu's appearance as well. Please wait just a bit more for the next update."
Yeah, it's just not Yakuza without Kazuma. Remember, the US is way behind on the installments; we just got the third entry this past March while the fourth is already out in Japan. So when we see Yakuza 5 unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show, don't get too excited…just hope Sega will bring the fourth game here soon.
