If you remember the good ol' days of the PS2 (and I can't believe I'd have to refer to them as "old"), you'll likely be excited by this news.

It seems a new rumor has sprung up around the E3 grounds, although it's more of a prematurely confirmed announcement. As revealed by several sources, starting with a blurry 1Up image from the currently unopened PlayStation booth, the Sly Cooper Collection , redone in brilliant high-definition and with 3D support is slated to be revealed in due time. Furthermore, speculation concerning other PS2 HD remakes is starting to accumulate everywhere, which follows hot on the heels of recent Sony questionnaires and surveys. You remember those, don't you? They asked gamers what old-school PS1 and PS2 titles they'd most like to see again with a fresh glossy veneer, and it's likely that Sly Cooper was high on the list for many PlayStation fans. Now, what other classics from yesteryear should come out with a new look? The God of War Collection certainly went over well…can you imagine Final Fantasy X or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in sharp 1080p high-definition or 3D? Nothing wrong with reliving those days in this fashion; nothing at all.

The good news is we only have to wait a few more hours before Sony announces this – which is likely – and we're hoping for more announcements of a similar nature…

while it'd be awesome if this is true, i feel that a Ratchet collection would be better

ROTFL! I just posted the same thought.

Is it too much to ask for both? As it is, I have software emulation on my ps3, and the original Ratchet and Clanks, but they run abysmally slow and choppy. Here's hoping they do remaster both and more.

Interesting.

You know, PS2 games start at a render target of 480i/480p. Even with a bit of an up-res they could easily render in 3D with enhanced visual quality (compared to the original PS2 version). Sly in 3D would be interesting. Ratchet and Clank remastered and in 3D would be awesome.

I missed out on these games and I hear good things about them all the time. I'm going to get this if it's confirmed for release. I want to see more titles remastered so I will be supporting this move as much as possible.

Same, here. I think it's a great move for Sony. Rather than spend maybe extra $20-30 per console to incorporate PS2 backward compatibility, they remaster older games with a new experience and turn PS2 into PS3 games.

I think probably Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid 3 will really benefit from the HD upgrade. Even the impressive original God of War look kind of bad on HD. Some remakes will just not wow people visually, but frame rate upgrades are always welcome.

Yeah but without the guns and vehicles. As soon as they were added I lost all interest. It was the perfect platformer until– guns and vehicles…

So you only liked the 1st one? I'm glad they made the sequels more mature. Look what they ended up with. The uncharted series. I still have all 3 might get rid of them if they do come out! 😀 Also the ratchet and clank series. All the ones on the ps2 especially deadlocked 4 player deathmatch is awesome!

LightShow YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! I F***in' love Jak & Daxter – yes GIVE ME JAK & DAXTER. I love it…by Naughty Dog please – because the Last Frontier wasn't the thing to satisfy the Jak & Daxter fans.

I mean that was such a damn good game for the PS2…I loved all of them. Now…thinking of it pretty hard I loved Jak & Daxter the best. Jak 2 & 3 WERE AMAZING THOUGH. But Jak & Daxter really had the feeling of its own world and beautiful concept.

Jak 2 & 3 were more…"mission" kind of stuff when Jak & Daxter was a more free open world find and do whatever you like whenever you like kind of thing.

I had it bundled when I first bought the PS2 on 2002 – …I can't begin to explain the memories I had with that game. I mean wow…do I miss it. But again, Jak 2 & 3 were great too – I feel that it was influenced by the GTA series with the cars, enforcement, weaponry, and city like world.

BUT HELL GIVE US ALL THE PS2 CLASSICS REMASTERED IN HD!!! C'mon Tretton – do your stuff tomorrow lol!

OMG, I loved the first Jak and Daxter, it was friggin' amazing, really wanna play that now, too bad I gave it away to my cousin, together with my PS2, I could always borrow it and play it on my PS3, I think I'll do that next time I come across them.

MGS 2 and 3

FF 10 and 12

Shadow of the Colossus and ICO

Those are the main 3 game collections they HAVE to do.

Others like R&C or Sly are sweet sweet bonuses.

I was just going by popular analysis. Same thing Pachter does.

Maybe I should nab his job and see how I go if you think my Psychic powers are strong enough.

I never played Sly cooper and in fact know nothing about it, somehow it flew under my radar I guess. Evidently they're popular tho so I may get to try them in hd if this is true, so lucky me.

Final Fantasy X, cuz I lost it, I can't find it anywhere, maybe I lent it and never got it back 🙁
Also, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but they should do that a month or 2 before Kingdom Hearts 3.

I'd probably get this Collection if it's true. I never did buy any of the original games on my PS2 and always thought they were interesting. That being said, I'd definitely prefer an announcement for a Metal Gear Collection and a ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection.

Anyone else getting the feeling that Sony's conference is going to be EPIC?! Microsoft bombed hard. This is going to be the year that Sony retakes the crown (I don't include the Wii for obvious reasons).

The PS2 has such a huge library that it would be difficult to name all the wonderful titles I would love to see in high-definition.
But one series I haven't seen anyone mention when these discussions come up is 'Fatal Frame.' I don't know how well the games sold (enough to release three titles internationally, at least), but it would definitely be a killer collection to have.

Yes!

Sly's so underrated. Yet anyone who actually plays the games comes out amazed at how clever and engaging the game truly is!

I hope this is true, it will expose a lot of ps3 fans to this great series. And then hopefully a sequel (gives Infamous time to rest a bit, an then come back).

This is a good sign (if it's true)
Since they are remastering the PS2 classics and other highly acclaimed PS2 games, many will probably end up as a PS3 collection disc,
so to everyone listing their favorite PS2 games, don't worry, just be patient, it'll come out soon enough

GREAT move by Sony

If it's true I'm getting this collection day 1. Don't care 'bout the 3D feature. But better HD graphics and the 3 games in ONE blu-ray disc!? Great great great!

I hope they do this with Ratchet/Clank as well

Ah, but only if it's true, hope it is…

I want all 4 ratchet and clanks remastered in HD on one blu ray disk. One of the main reasons I didn't buy a new ps3 is because I wanted to play ratchet and clank upscaled but they don't work on the 80 gig
Also wouldn't mind the sly cooper games though (and maybe the jack and daxter games)
