I have to admit, that upon first glance of this chart I did a double take. Okay, fine…it was more like a quintuple take. My eyes first glanced over to see the PS3's sales and much to my surprise, Japan is loading up on more PS3s than PS2s; by a considerable amount too! Likewise, PSP seem to have skyrocketed in sales. While not quite Nintendo DS levels, Sony's handheld is suddenly beginning to move units in 6-digit hordes. Sales of both the PSP and PS3 are incredibly impressive considering that they're both much more expensive than their respective Nintendo competitors.
The first column of numbers (left) details sales Jan 1st-7th. The second column is the week before (Christmas week). The third column is total sold in 2007. And the fourth column is total sold to date.
