Reports have began to surface that the previously announced Lord of the Rings: White Council has been cancelled. Even though the last update of the game's development was posted on the official White Council website just a month ago, 1UP has learned from a credible source very close to development, that White Council has been canned. The ambitious RPG game took place 100 years before the events of the trilogy, and would feature gameplay similar to that of the Elder Scrolls games — in particular Oblivion.
Allegedly, one of the reasons for the axe has to do with the departure of Steve Gray, who was the Executive Producer of the game. EA has yet to make any official announcements regarding this, but when contacted they didn't refute the rumor. So there you have it, folks; LOTR: White Council has been scrapped.
