God Of War III, Gran Turismo 5 Launch On Same Day In Japan?

It may only be a Japanese launch date (and hardly confirmed at that), but if it's true, we can guesstimate when we might see these titles in North America and Europe.

As noted by Siliconera , Japanese retailer Geostore may have provided everyone with the official release date for God of War III , the God of War Trilogy and Gran Turismo 5 . They say all three will be on store shelves in the Land of the Rising Sun on March 25, which holds with everything we've heard thus far. Geostore no longer lists GT5 with this date but it seems very plausible that it's the real deal; series creator Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed late last year that his driving simulator would be in Japan in March 2010. As for GoWIII, it would be more than a little surprising to have it launch in Japan – where it's less popular – first, so we'd like to think March 25 could be a NA/EU release as well. It would make sense to strive for a worldwide simultaneous release, after all. GameStop says we might not get GT5 in the US until November 2 , but we're all hoping that isn't accurate. However, can you imagine GoWIII and GT5 hitting on the same day ? It's like an automatic requirement to lay out $125!  The wallet says, "ouch."

We'll have to see if that March 25 date is correct for Japan and if it is, we can start figuring on Western release dates for the two games in question.

I would buy both games without thinking.

Sounds like a good idea…why not release Heavy Rain, FFXIII, and God Of war III simultaneously in the US =P

But, in all seriousness, if I were Sony, i wouldn't do this. I mean, don't you want to maximize the sales of each?

Well I doubt translating and localizing GT5 would take that long, I mean it's a driving sim it doesn't contain that much text.

P.S. The forums don't work.

Exactly, this is why i think the US GT5 November date is pure BS. A game like FF13 has a massive script compared to a game like GT5 and FF13 took only ~3 months to translate to english. I expect to see GT5 in June or July, during the slow summer season.

I wish we (USA) had that problem, I'd kill to be able to buy both at once here in March! Then commit suicide trying to decide which one to play first. haha

I'd buy GT5 and a month later buy GOW3.

I'd do the opposite. Would definitely purchase separately, though — let each title breathe a little bit…

I really hope GoW won't be released in march, at least not worldwide.

I have FFXIII to buy that month 🙁

It's not as if both have to be bought right away, due to a fear of them selling out and not being available anymore. These games will be on store selves for ages, with price drops along the way.

I can count on one hand how many games I've bought at "launch", and still have a few fingers left over.

I dont think i've ever bought a game on launch day. Perhaps later in the week, but only if i had time to run down to gamestop. I dont get to worried about picking a game up asap, especially if i'm playing something else at the time.

If I raise my fingers counting this way, with all the fingers raised for my PS3 launchday purchases I can flip someone. If I include my PC preorders/launch games, I can show someone a double bird!

But I'll be in queue waiting for the shiny launch day GT5…

The only time I ever buy a game on launch day is if it has a cool incentive for pre-ordering it. For example, I pre-ordered "God of War III" (Ultimate Edition) so I could have access to the E3 demo. I've pre-ordered "Heavy Rain" to receive the first Chronicles episode for free. I usually hate pre-ordering, though, because that means I have to support the crooks known as EB Games.

NoSmokingBandit

Do you get the extra content for Heavy Rain by preordering through Amazon? I forgot about the free stuff with HR, and i'd much rather support Amazon than Gamestop (even though my gamestop guy is pretty cool (thouhc he did tell me prototype was a great game (stupid waste of $60))).

I'm not actually sure, Bandit. I know I'd definitely support Amazon over EB/Gamestop as well, though. The only downfall with Amazon is that it's a pain in the arse if you need to return something.

Why doesn't Sony just come to my house and mug me? At least then I wouldn't have to have my girlfriend give me "the look" when she asks me to remind her how much each game costs again. I could never get into GT, but GoW and FF are getting my money. FF will be a day one purchase, I'm sure.

@sniperflash,
If you're talking about getting 10 points for each comment, then no, I don't think they don't count for anything much(not to us anyway, maybe it's just something done for the siteholders).

At least, not for us at this time, but maybe in the future they could have some extra worth.

I'd like to see them put to good use towards something, maybe like a chance for a free raffle here & there, or at least something a bit useful to the community here.

I don't see why Sony can't just give us a North American release date for GT5. I mean, it's Gran Turismo FIVE – plus a couple of Prologues and stuff. Surely they must have some clue – by now – how long it takes to translate some text into English, manufacture the disks and get them into stores?

And I really think that a gigantic multinational corp. like Sony can look up when other games – mostly their own – are launching and decide on a schedule.

So if GameStop's computers showed GT5 as a 2015 release date, would such a seemingly ridiculous thing be considered news?

I would do whatever i had to to scrounge up the money to get both. obviously i wouldn't starve just so i could get both, but if it came down to it GOW 3 would come first. Thats a day one no brainer for me, im still playing and enjoying the demo very much.

I would definetely get GT5 first, far more longetivity than GOW3. Also Action games are everywhere now-a-days, Ex: Darksiders, Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno. the racing genre isn't as crowded the action genre.

almost every single ps3 exclusive has released in the US before anywhere else.
you think you have it bad, come live in AU and enjoy the luxury of getting games months after the US, paying more for games and missing out on half the content.
kinda explainable because most games are developed in the US so thats why they release there first, but that does not excuse a freaking 3 week waiting period.
a week ok but no more than that!

ill be supporting GOW3. I dont have anything against GT but I prefer my racing games more like Motostorm. Still, Im happy its coming out. It'll definitely be good for the PS3's continuing dominance.
