Last week, we learned that Mercenaries developer Pandemic Studios had been shut down and over 200 employees were left jobless.

Somewhat ironically, Pandemic's new game – The Saboteur – is still on track, as the project has passed to another development team within EA. We have high hopes for that one but in the meantime, those 200 employees probably weren't too happy about being laid off and so, the situation was ripe for an "Office Space" recreation. Most everyone is familiar with the now legendary scene in the cult classic film; it's when three guys – two of whom were freshly canned – take a problematic printer out into a field and beat it to pieces in slo-mo. Can't we all hear the corresponding song in our heads now…? If not, check out the hilarious video of ex-Pandemic workers giving a printer a very similar treatment. This time, however, they're using more than just a baseball bat; check out the sledgehammer and crowbar! Somebody should probably teach that dude how to swing a sledge, but other than that, it's pretty damn funny and likely quite satisfying for the guys in question. Well, maybe.

I would've just popped the video in here but there's definitely some graphic lyrics in that song so you guys will just have to follow the link. Trust me, it's worth it.

Great use of the Geto Boys in the background! Come the end of January I'll be in the same situation and know how the pandemic guys are feeling. Good luck to the lot of them there, sure they'll land back on their feet, I wish em all the best!

To whom may remember, this smacks of the last days of Commodore; who completely lost the plot whilst having produced some of the most successful gaming computers of any generation; namely the Commodore 64 and Amiga range of computers.

The "Death Bed Vigil" is a video whereby you see Commodore engineers go outside and start smashing things up in disgust. If you do some searches of on YouTube of the final days of Commodore you may get some interesting clips of the end of a great era. There is also a tour of the closed shut down Commodore factory, where once Amiga's rolled happily off the production into millions of peoples homes (sigh – I miss those days)… It looks eerie and frankly depressing.

The Amiga was very much ahead of its time; but then lost ground when PC peripheral hardware caught up and surpassed what the Amiga could do with its advanced custom chipset.

If there are any readers here interested in looking back in history, go to Wikipedia for more info on Amiga computers, or just search on Google for hardware guides on Amiga computers to get an idea of why it was so much ahead of its time… also look up the "CDTV"; Commodores first attempts at a home living room entertainment device… again, very much ahead of its time.

Wasn't the chip called Angus or the fat Angus Chip and I forget the name of the other one.

The Amiga 1200 had the AGA chipset and could produce better graphics 🙂

I remember getting a hard drive for my Amiga 1200 and an external disc drive too made life so much easier.

Having a video out like this ain't gonna fly far in helping them get another job somewhere else, especially with the unemployment rate the way it is…

unless their starting their own company…

or trying out for "Tool Academy"…

then I guess it's awright…

Started off with a Spectrum 48K which must have been around 1982. Wonderful days!
You could spend the time it took to play through Modern Warfare 2 in campaign mode just trying to get your games to work with your dodgy tape recorder.

Commodore 64 versus Spectrum 48. That was a fanboy bonanza.

Moved to an Amiga and marvelled at the wonder of a disk drive instead of tape.

Loved my Amiga. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis came on 11 disks! Everytime you wanted to go into your inventory you needed to load another disk. Me and my mate played it together. One to move the mouse and one to load the disks. Co-op old style!!!

Yes Gordo, those were the days… you know you can still by Amiga's and kit them out. I am about to order a new Amiga1200 🙂 Ah, retro heaven!

What about a new CD32… they are still available new!

I wish I was born earlier so I could appreciate those days of floppy disks. They were going out when I was a child.

At 5 years old, I got into Super Mario Bros., Punch-Out!! and The Flintstones on NES. But when we moved onto Sega Mega Drive and first got Sonic the Hedgehog, that was truly revolutionary.

Ahhhh, memories….

Sounds like a plan man, I've been meaning to get back to it and I'll be zipped up in my house all winter.

I never got into those floppy games, I started on consoles with the Colecovision, smurfs ftw!

I had the Commodore Vic 20 5k memory lol then I upgraded to Commodore 64. I never had the Spectrum but a lot of my mates did. It was nice fanboyism then it was a lot calmer than it is today.
I used to use my mates Speccy and he used my C64.

I did end up getting an Amiga 500 then upgraded to an Amiga 1200. It used to take 2 hours to generate Championship Manager so we used to play cards to see who would get the first buy of the season as the game was buggy nd would onhly let the first person buy 1 foreign player. So much fun back in those days.

Everyone stood side by side in the arcade regardless of what console you had at home. There was none of this my machine is better than yours like today. We used to swap machines too for weeks at a time.

Cassette tapes lol waiting for the game to load in only got it to get almost to the end and then decide to crash.

Once I had the Amiga nearly everyone went into school with discs borrowing tons of games off mates. It was easier than making backup copies of your cassette tapes.

A lot of people had NES or Sega's too. Sadly the first console I owned was my PS1. First game was Crash Bandicoot that came with it too 🙂

Damn, this is one world wide Pandemic that I will surly miss!

I go way back to the old Tandy/Commodore/Intellivision/Colecovision days too.
And I still pine for all those old Donkey Kong, Pitfall, Dungeons & Dragons, & Burgertime gaming days. Guess I'm going to have to re-buy the Intellivision & Colecovision since I sold them ages ago.
