I always thought Kratos could use some kick-ass heavy metal songs to augment his brutal bashfests.
First up, we've heard that Trivium has recorded an exclusive song for God of War III , which was revealed by the band's guitarist and vocalist Matt Heafy during a radio interview. On top of that, we've just learned that Dream Theater will also be jumping on board ; this announcement coming from drummer Mike Portnoy, who said on the band's blog: "…we will then enter the studio right after New Year's to write and record a brand new instrumental track for inclusion in the upcoming God of War 3 soundtrack." Both songs in question are originals and we certainly like Sony's decision to inflame our battle desire with hard-hitting metal tracks. I loved the idea and concept of Brutal Legend but the RTS elements killed it for me; hence, I now look forward to enjoying my metal while tearing baddies apart in GoWIII. Of course, to each his own, but I just feel metal fits this particular game style particularly well, and I doubt many will disagree.
It sounds like the music in this game is going to rule almost as much as the gameplay and graphics. What won't be stellar in this upcoming action extravaganza?
Related Game(s): God of War III
It could work. I always seemed to have Rammstein playing in the background while I played the previous ones.
ah gotta love Rammstein 🙂
Trivium are a failure..I would prefer to use something more old school like Manowar for this type of game.
Yeah why not Manowar? I thought this legendary true Metal band would well suit God of War not this…. scene *** bait just hope Dragonstudioforce haven't recorded a song since so far there's only been two from Roadrunner
needs some iron maiden and metallica 😀
Nah, Metallica & Iron Maiden wouldn't fit. Manowar could, but no way xD; they're just too cheesy.
Hope the Triviums song just doesn't appears in a scene with important climax that would ruin that moment for me.
but well it could be worse… like put Bring me the Horizon.
I wish I could thumb this post down x infinity. Trivium are the best. Their last record is brilliant, and one of the best metal records I've ever heard.
Alright Arnold! Yeah, I got bashed into the ground last time I even implied liking Trivium. They may not be generation defining material but they can get a crowd goin' crazy…
BTW, is that Matt Tuck on your avatar?
Indeed it is. =)
shoulda done Megadeth. Megadeth fits with everything.
wait a min u mean that they will put metal music ingame and kill the original style that ruled all the goes before ? BEN ANSWER ME PLEASEEEEEEEEEE
No its likely a compilation from various artists
Yeah? Might receive the same music score you tend to give DMC. . . Anyway, what does FTW stand for?
For The Win
For me, it stands for "F*ck The World", & it's been our old school biker's creed for years & years.
A friend forced me to see Dream Theater a few months back. It was possibly the worst show I have been to in my life, and I am actually into metal.
You must be deaf. Have you even heard panic attack by Dream theater? That song is the most intense song I have ever heard.
Yes, DT does have some bore fest songs, because they are so long! 42 minutes!? Come on.
Still, they are a great band with amazing talent. Their entire band is amazing. Especially the drummer.

im not in to metal AT ALL but heavy metal (no vocals) would be great when Kratos goes mad n fu*ks everythink up that moves lol
yerr im wit Ultimate_Balla what does FTW mean…and what does IMO mean>?
IMO IDK FTW!!!
In My Opinion
For The Win
Definitley not my cup of tea. If I want metal I'll play Brutal Legends. GOW deserves the epic vibe from the first 3 games not guitar in the background.
I agree, they shouldn't deviate from the atmospheric epic sound of the first games. Hopefully this is just for endgame credits or something. It would be a strike against the game if this was in game music.
If they get Protest The Hero on board i just might buy 2 copies, lol.
I'm sure this won't take away from the epic score and atmosphere of the first games. GOWIII will still be just as epic and immersive as ever. But think how badass it'll be to have some high energy metal to accompany the intense battle sequences. As if GOW doesn't already get me pumped… I'm gonna need sedatives to play this game without exploding!
Less badass and more bad, I certainly don't want my braincells to be killed listening to music I abhor while playing this epic game.
Dream Theater. Sweeeet!
But again, I don't know if Dream Theater or Trivium would fit the theme of this game.
Amon Amarth would fit more, I say.
You guys are being closed minded, GOW has to grow, I bet they find the perfect place for it. I don't know much about metal but I know when it fits. For instance there was that wicked metal-type song in FFX when Tidus fought his dad and it was perfect even if you wouldn't normally see it fitting into FF.

GOW has to grow? Come on World, you've got to be kidding me. How does the addition of a couple average Metal bands lead you to believe the GOW series is growing? If GOW has to grow as you say I think it would be in the game length area, not in a couple guitar rifts.
FFX rocks, you win that one.
Aren't you the one who said it would just be the status quo of the others? Maybe it was Alienange I don't remember, but yeah GOW should be given some wiggle room to grow a bit. I think including the proper music into a scene is growth, haven't you ever watched a movie that used hardly any music or no music and you though "Well I know a song that would make this scene more exciting, where's the audio experience at?"
I have, and I think anything that improves the experience can be considered a bit of growth, just my opinion but well, imagine that battle with Sephiroth without the orchesta but some standard fantasy stuff instead, wouldn't be the same.
I've said some stupid things, but that wasn't one of them. GoW as far as I'm concerned can do no wrong, whether it be the music or the length of gameplay. You give me Kratos and the Blades of Chaos and I'm happy. There's nothing "status quo" about GoW and I hope there never is.
apologies old bean 🙂
Wasn't me that said that. I'm renting GOW3 and I bet it takes me a nights worth of FF13 gaming to forget about it.
Yea metal, boo trivium..
I'll be too captivated by the game itself to even notice the music!
The demo is intense!
I think i'l need ridalin to play this sh*t!
Dream Theatre whilst brutally murdering Helilos. I love you Sony.
Or you could just bang in your heavy metal cd and play lol
Not too loud though as you wanna hear the story 🙂

Thanx LV. Space to grow? Even tho this is the last entry?
No lamb of god? 🙁
Trivium was hand crafted by God's hand. This is amazing news! I met the band two months ago, and they're fucking awesome guys. I am waaaay excited to hear this new song. Someone at Santa Monica Studios sure knows how to pick them.
Hey why do you get to say f*ck but we cant? practice what you preach man, everyone officially gets a free chance to say f*ck now, (only twice though)
Well, I automatically bypass the filter since I'm an admin. But I actually do approve posts that have swears in them, but only when those swears are expressing excitement and are not targeted at other users.
Calling someone an f-ing idiot gets deleted and banned.
Saying that you're really f-ing stoked I usually let slide. I try to be fair about that kind of stuff – I'm not a big fan of censorship. 😉

i was just playing, but yeah, I also hate censorship, that is good to know though, thanks;)
crafted by gods hand how ironic considering metal is normally about deals with the devil.
I don't know, I think it will be awkward hearing screaming voices in the background. If theres a scream I must hear it will be Kratos and Kratos only. I don't care how good these guys are as long as they keep their mouth shut; keep it instrumental. Orchestra + Choir + God of War = EPICNESS!!

Trivium doesn't always scream, they mix it up very well. Their third record had no screaming on it at all, and the fourth had a very big emphasis on melody and singing. Listen to a song of theirs called "Down From the Sky". Read the lyrics, too. It fits almost perfectly for a game like God of War.
Goddamn, I am so fucking stoked to hear what this new song could possibly be. I'm gonna go jam on the guitars now, this excitement must be unleashed. =)
Edit: Oh, and let's not forget Devil May Cry soundtracks have always had a metal soundtrack playing in the background, with a very demonic/baritone voice in the background.

Just listened to Shogun and i must say i'm impressed with Trivium 🙂
