New IPs often have difficulty achieving real financial success but it seems clear that Borderlands will be considered a definite winner.
And because of that, we can most likely expect a sequel; in fact, it's a "no-brainer," according to Gearbox. Creative Director Mike Neumann said as much during a recent VG247 interview although nothing has been officially planned just yet. The game was mostly well-received by critics and gamers alike and most fans would definitely welcome a sequel, so maybe it's just a matter of time. Said Neumann:
"Borderlands is really exciting. Everyone here loves the franchise, and it seems like the public is really coming back with praise and love. So yeah, if everything makes sense, Borderlands 2 seems like a no-brainer to me."
It's simple, really. As Neumann says, "if people want more and you can make more, and everybody can make money and do good business there, it obviously makes really good sense to do that." Right now, the team is working on pumping out some DLC for the first title and Neumann admits nobody has mentioned a sequel just yet, but we get the feeling it's in the backs of their minds. So we'll just wait patiently for that announcement…

It's good to see this quality game has done well enough to warrant "sequel talk". I like it when new IPs succeed.
Gameplay over graphics. It just works.
I like the graphics.
Me too.
well if they are making a borderlands 2, I hope that they allow you to make your own character and class. Cause it's not like they talked anyway
I could definitely see them adding that (I would bet on it actually) "Bazillions of clothing items and accessories to equip!" take a page from the LBP and Mod Nation Racers book perhaps. Sounds like a good idea to me, would actually make me want to go online and play with random people instead of just friends, you know … to see what people can come up with.
EDIT: Just look at the bandits and how creatively crazy they look sometimes.

Wait I thought this game was riddled with bugs and issues? Was there and update or patch that I didn't hear about?
"riddled with bugs?" No my friend. There was one major problem with PS3 and it's friends list but that's been fixed for a few weeks now. The game is as smooth as butter. Believe it.
Yeah, they fixed that psn issue the first or second day the game was released. I play co-op just about every night and it works great now, just a few hiccups (nothing like before) with audio issues during online games. Also, they released an actual patch to fix some skills and some other issues that some people were apparently having *shrug* I only wanted my Siren skills fixed and now they seem to be working great ^^ Can't wait to see what they add in dlc

what about all the slowdown?
constant freezing?
pop in to put GTA 2 to shame?
not to mention the HDD and save data issues.
I haven't experienced any of that stuff 😛 Or at least noticed really …the only thing that used to bother me was the screen tearing, but it's not hindering gameplay for me.
I really went into the first game looking to enjoy it but I just didn't. I thought it looked terrible. All the skags and crabs just looked like flat cardboard chasing me around and the weapons, although plentiful, where rubbish.
I think the general idea was pretty cool though. They should of made a more realistic version.
Just my opinion, obviously I'm in the minority.
Traded it in along with WET (which I may repurchase down the line when it's goin cheap 2nd hand) for a copy of MW2(I was pretty broke this week but couldn't find anyone to mug for the cash).

Support Sony, mug an Xbot 😉
j/k World does not advocate the mugging of kids for their lunch money.
is this game any good? i keep getting mixed reviews about it
I can't believe I'm STILL playing Borderlands almost every day even after getting the plat trophy. I can't wait to see how they top this game in a sequel. Especially by the time all the dlc is out and done with (which hopefully adds new game mechanics like …perhaps custom weapons in some way for one example)
I'm right there with you. This game is a blast to play with other people. Little slow and easy during solo play, but the enemy difficulty and fun get cranked up with more people. And with almost 18 million guns to choose from, there's something for everybody lol. Can't wait for a sequel.
Just add more vehicle options this time.
"This game is a blast to play with other people": Exactly. This is a coop-game to be enjoyed with friends imo, and within that category it's been this years highlight for me.
Regarding the complaints about the respawns: Just get a vehicle and drive past, eventually run past. You don't *have* to kill everything that moves.
I kinda wish they'd have used their own in-house game engine because you can see the limitations the UT3 engine puts on this game. Still one of my favorites though, maybe just an idea for the sequel.
no thanks.
borderlands gave me enough headaches to last me 10 years.
I was so high on this game.
That was until they cell-shaded the graphics.
People need to quit complaining about graphics. Graphics aren't everything. The gameplay is where it's at. Even if Call of Duty was cell shaded, all the drones would go buy it. Quit judging books by their covers and give them a chance.
