You know, if you're currently standing in line outside your local GameStop that will be celebrating the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with midnight festivities, you should realize that another top-notch FPS will drop next year.

And if EA CEO John Riccitiello's prediction comes true, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 could rival Infinity Ward's massively anticipated shooter. The original Battlefield was a solid and nicely accomplished FPS and developer DICE has already said to expect a bigger and better sequel. Although the entire world seems to be MW2-crazy right now, EA wants to remind everyone that somewhere, lurking in the background shadows, they've got a project that might just surprise you with its bad-ass-ness. According to PS3Center citing a Q2 conference call with Riccitiello, the EA boss said- "I think [ Bad Company 2 ] has every right to see itself as a rival to the number one FPS game that one of one of our competitors is releasing next week." Ironically, there was a time back in 2007 when PS3 owners were really down on EA (for a variety of reasons) but now, Activision is in the doghouse and EA has really produced some stellar titles this generation.

In addition to Battlefield: Bad Company , we've also seen Mirror's Edge and Dead Space , so we have every confidence that BC2 is gonna be awesome. Also, let's not forget that the beta kicks off on November 19 and that test will be exclusive to the PS3. Betcha don't hate EA much now , do ya?

Even though I'm buying mw 2 tomorrow, bfbc 2 is the game I'm waiting for. The first bfbc online play was so addicting. I spent prob a good 6 months every night when it came out.

I hope bfbc 2 sells good. I know I'm getting the limited edition( remember same price as original) on day 1.

Agreed, im just glad this game doesn't have an 80,000 pound hype train driving it (Activision) that makes it look bad in the long run.

I look forward to this game, but the thing is that the maps are to big and to full of vehicles to draw in the MW2 crowd.

I never played the first, maybe I should try the demo that's on my Dead Space disc. Dead Space made me call EA back out of the doghouse single handedly.

Worth trying the demo. The single player is "open world-dish" so you don't always get the full-on action like the CODs. I don't think the multi-player is still available with the demo but 1943 should give you a reasonable picture of what to expect.

EA was the Kid that acted tough and did things for its own pleasure, caring and giving a damn about anyone else. But, EA was really insecure on the inside.

Fortunately, EA stood up to all the hate it put up with, and became the person it was meant to become. Or, at the very least, a better person 🙂

im really looking forward to BFBC2 but for christs sake EA would you shut the %$#@ up for once!
please its driving me insane, every singe time i turn on my comp and hop on the net theres another article about EA talking about BFBC2 and how its better than MW2.
ok we get it, you dont have to tell me 1 million times for me to understand and remember it.

as i have said many times if your game is good, great, let your game speak for yourself.
running your mouth off like a freaking 10 year old on red cordial just turns me off your game.
like turn 10 and forza 3, i was going to get that but dans fat mouth put me off it.
please EA dont do the same with this, im really looking forward to it.

i heard them the first time, the second time, the third time, the fourth time.
after that it just gets annoying.

I'm willing to give this game a try and will do a pre-order for it (not something I do too often), but from what I;ve seen it definately looks like a contender and good enough to draw me away from MW2.

Dude I never hated EA, that company has been like family since its first NHL game. I think every year " Man this NHL game is awesome" and every year some jerk finds some tiny thing to whine aboot. WAAA the sound isnt realistic or WAAA Crosby's using the wrong stick even though they bing something fresh and really great to each NHL game. NHL franchise aside EA outdoes themselves with every title they release, And Bad Company 2 is gonna be Bad Ass 10. Guaranteed!

the ability to destroy any cover you find particularly obnoxious is what clinches it for me. that and it doesnt have a killcam, not in the "make hiding pointless cuz as soon as u kill someone they'll know right where you're at" sense.

the best online battle mechanic is uncharted2, the cover system flows and works well alongside the fact thats how a real firefight would happen. you can't cover yourself in mw2, just hide, and thats why its a little unrealistic for bigger maps. you're hidin behind some barels, and you can get sniped out so easily.

"This 1/6-scale (12” tall) statue depicts Cpt. “Soap” MacTavish of Task Force 141, equipped with custom snow camouflage and weaponry, as seen in the “Cliffhanger” mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. 10 of these special prizes will be awarded at random to users that attend the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 “Featured Game” event tonight, Tuesday, November 10 between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). If you’re a die-hard Call of Duty fan this is THE launch day event to attend.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 event marks the beginning of a new type of regularly occurring event in PlayStation Home – the “Featured Game” party. Every day one of the latest and greatest PlayStation 3 games (that have an online multiplayer component, of course) will be showcased in PlayStation Home. Official host accounts (manned by the Home Community Management team, the Home Community Volunteer team, and – when available – game developers and other celebrity players) will gather in Central Plaza between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). A list of host accounts will be placed on the screens at the [email protected] kiosk in Central Plaza as well as on the official PlayStation Home Clubs and Events forum."

Bad Company's multiplayer is definitely more my cup of joe. Though I enjoyed playing COD4 online, I just felt really claustrophobic. There just wasn't much use for the snipers.

In Bad Company, I felt like I contributed more to the team with the roles that I played. I would often swap between a sniper and a medic, with the occasional demolitions every once in a while.

Plus, I like a little bit more objective in my multiplayer. It's amazing how only two game modes can take up hundreds of hours of play time. I do hope that they make the team chat a lot better than with the first one. Same with the squad option. I hated pretty much going solo all the time.

Simply put, I can't wait for this game!

I don't know how to feel about it. EA still held back ps3 features. While I have nothing against mw2 I'm still not buying any activision games until something is done about Kotick. So while a part of me wants to see cod6mw2 fail another part doesn't want it to but simply wants BFBC2 to rival it in sales and even take away 1-3M of it's sales to bring Kotick down a notch.

Problem for me is I didn't like the demo for BFBC. While destructible cover is nice I'd like to have some cover. I tolerate two weapon systems but I despise them. Especially if it's done for so called realism but then I have to drop one of my guns to pick up a tool that magically fixes a truck. Nor do I like having to pick up a whole other gun for ammo instead of just getting ammo. And while I don't mind an extra path or two to go I'm not fond of aimless open world games.

So i'm really going to need to play a demo first.

Just a question: how many players will it support in online play? If its more than 18… 🙂
