As most of you know, while Bayonetta is currently available in Japan, it won't be on US store shelves until January 5. But perhaps this delay will prove beneficial for PlayStation 3 owners…

The debate concerning this hotly anticipated action title revolves around the fact that developer Platinum Games first designed the game for the Xbox 360, after which Sega handled the PS3 port. Not surprisingly, this has resulted in a lesser frame rate for the PS3 version, as reflected in some Japanese publications like Famitsu, which awarded the 360 version a perfect 40/40 score and gave the PS3 a version a 38/40. But perhaps these extra few months will give Sega America some time to even things out a bit. A reader has sent us an e-mail from a Sega America representative, who hints that we should maybe look for some improvements in the PS3 version when it arrives in North America. Essentially, the rep says that when the game was pushed back, the producers asked them "to spend more time on making sure the frame rate would be as comparable to that of the Xbox 360 as possible given the amount of time, budget, and testing available." Now, he does admit that the 360 version still has the better frame rate but the difference isn't quite so pronounced, and other aspects of the game are basically identical.

Therefore, it's going to be interesting to see if PS3 owners get a better Bayonetta than our gamer friends in Japan. It also helps that GameStop and Amazon have lower-than-normal price tags for the PS3 version; it's down to $54.99, perhaps as a result of it being a port. But if the frame rate ends up being very, very similar, that $5 savings might be worth it…

Well, for me(a big Kamiya and DMC fanboy)the deom showed Bayonetta to be a very similar game to DMC in a lot of ways. The enemies are very DMC and so is the combat. In fact it's DMC lite with crazy and tits added to the mix-to me anyway.

I found that a disappointment from one of my fave directors-made it feel a lazy, phoned in kind of effort and the lack of a real, Platinum made PS3 version adds to that feeling , imo. I wasn't impressed very much at all by the gameplay in the gemo-that said I also failed to see what the VAST and TERRIBLE faults were with it either.

If you're gonna miss out n this make sure it's for the right reasons, eh? The port is NOWHERE near the abomination some have made it out to be while the game(God bless silly Famitsu)is NOT perfect and isn't even up to DMC2(!) standard for me.

If, when it cm,e to the UK, the price is low enough I MIGHT try it again but even now the differences aren't worth suffering that 360 Dpad and controller(not suited to anything other than shooters for me)for!

I also think it's WELL out f order for a Japanese dev to offer up sub standard fayre to their own countries gamers vyt seeing as I live in the Uk and they get everything AND get it earlier than me usually I won't cry too much.

I already had decided to hold off on this one. It looks like it might be fun, though. I will likely get it used, or after it goes down in price.

i hope they do improve it. i don't dig the 'inferior port' trend that still exists. i think it'll be a good game, but i want either sega or platinum to fix that mess otherwise no buy.

Prediction: People will look at the cheaper pricetag and go: "Well it can't be that good, I don't want it."

Then the PS3 version will become an overstocked game and it will drop to $40. People will purchase it, beat it quickly and sell it on ebay for $30, at which time I will wait until someone will just take anything they can get for it and I will secure a copy at $20-$25 and that is all the game will be worth. ūüôā

LOL World,
That's how I buy all my games, but with one slight difference.

Since I'm also a games collector & usually buy my games in bulk(10-20 at a time), I wait till they drop around the $19.95 or less range. That way I can spread my expenses out in order to buy that many more games.

Equal quality but cheaper price?
Multi console owners will go for the PS3 version no doubt but then again, like World said, people might ignore it because of the lower price tag.

That's mostly concerning people who unlike us don't check up on game news every day and don't know why it's cheaper. They will be like wtf?

im actually really enjoying it, its such a fast paced game i cant bloody keep up with it.
and i thought devil may cry 4 was a fast paced game.
only complaint its fu**ing hard!
im on the first boss battle and because hes so far away the only way to hurt him is to shoot him, but doing so,well, 50 bullets takes of half a millimeter of health.
and deploying witch time is a BITCH!
you have to doge a attack right at the last millisecond for it to work, its impossible to be able to react fast enough.
O and why do third person games have to have the camera so fu***ng far away?
its really starting to piss me off, thats whats making it so hard.
because the camera is so far away its hard to judge how far away the enemy is from you.
if the camera was closer it would be allot easier, but i just dont understand why games constantly insist the camera has to be so far away.
like R&C ACIT, i have lost count the amount of times i have died because i cant see how close to the edge i am.
bring in the camera closer to the player and it would make these games so much easier and so much more enjoyable.
just because its in 3rd person does not mean the camera has to be 1 country behind the player.

It sounds like it will be a good game, but these people really screwed themselves by not putting more effort into the PS3 version. The first thing you think about when you hear "Bayonetta" is "inferior port", not "great gameplay". Bunch of lazy ****s, and it's gonna cost them plenty of money. But as long as they've got enough for beer, I'm sure they'll be happy.

I don't they're gonna add something special.(Don't care about frame rate issues cause they're not noticeable). But i still don't care, im still getting this game cause there isn't any fast-pased action games this gen. And the demo hooked me on this game. =P

This is good news and it does make perfect sense, I mean look at the reaction from us here, most everyone is angered by the port for PS3 and are prepared to pass on the game because of that fact so hopefully they fix it in time to change some of our minds.

To bad so many people are saying that they are going to be passing on this game. The demo was great, and had no glaring problems at all. Word has it that the so called "shady ps3 port" allegations where blown horribly out of proportion.

Not just Frames-per-second. But the textures and details must at least be on-par. At most 95% of what the 360 version is capable of bring then I'm in. Otherwise, to hell with this game.

Im not getting this game. Im protesting this game. I am sick and tired of a superior machine, the PS3, getting worse ports. The ps3 should be getting SUPERIOR Ports, but in the name of keeping 360 peeps happy, they dumb down the ps3 to it's level, or worse, make the ps3 game worse.

No thanks Sega. Better games to play than yours.

End of Line.

I dont understand why xbox ruined this generation.

Isn't its the developer's fault for bad ports?

Look at modern warfare 2. The ps3 and xbox version is identical. But the developer decided to make bad PC version.

Its the developer decision to make good port or bad port. And maybe also publisher decision considering the time needed and the funds needed.
