A sequel, as we all know, is the continuation of a story that began in the original tale. But this can be difficult when the second plot takes place long after the first story ended, and we're forced to have a different protagonist.
Faced with this conundrum, 2K Marin decided to do something very intriguing when making Bioshock 2 . If you recall the first game, Jack Ryan was the main character and although he won't be in the sequel, he has attained an almost mythical status; the splicers actually debate his decisions. Essentially, this means they're debating your decisions, which is interesting, because the first game was open-ended enough so you had free reign to make plenty of different choices. In the sequel, the residents of Rapture have placed Ryan on somewhat of a pedestal and according to creative director Jordan Thomas, this will help to drive the story in Bioshock 2 forward. Here's what he said in talking with the MTV Multiplayer Blog :
"He's mentioned. His story, for the purposes of 'BioShock 2,' is over, in terms of his world driving narrative. That said, the things that he did are being fiercely debated by the splicers, because we wanted to support any of the choices the player could have made in the first game. It’s become kind of a religious question; what he did at the end of 'BioShock 1.'"
You can bet the storyline will be a main focus in the sequel as it was in the original, and that's going to be one of the primary appeals. Really, it's one of those games that plays like a FPS but features very plain RPG elements, and that includes a well-implemented plot with great character development. We can't wait!

We'll be playing as a big daddy this time right?
So does that mean melee attack will be more powerful?
yes and no, because your enemies will be tougher they can take the big daddy's smacks pretty well.
And I thought Big Daddy was hard to kill.
How can they debate your choices if you don't have a finished savegame of Bioshock 1 on your system?
Am I the only one that thinks the plot of something called "Big Daddy" chasing after a "little sister" is a little disturbing?
little sister, big sister … big daddy's not fussy
if you remember the suffering years ago, they had the first one end 3 ways and the second one started 3 ways. if you didnt have a save file from the first one you started with the neutral beginning.
not gonna lie… i found the plot of the first one terribly predictable.
wow i forgot about this game. actually i keep forgetting about it. i loved the first one and totally plan on playing the second. i only beat it one time so after i have this one maybe it will make me want to play the first one again to get different things in the second. i would play the first one again before the second is out but i honestly dont think i have the time.
cant complain about having to many games to play i guess.
"How can they debate your choices if you don't have a finished savegame of Bioshock 1 on your system?"
worldsendswithme,I was thinking the same thing,
in my case,i still have the gamesave on my ps3,so it would be cool if the game could have access to the 1 save, and go from there…
it would make everyone's playthrough unique…
im still on the fence for this.
i was extremley excited when they announced it because bioshock was my favorite game of 07, but this restricted to big daddy crap has chucked me back onto the fence.
dantes inferno, heavy rain, max payne 3 and MAFIA 2 are suppose to be out roughly the same time as this so ill probably wait till the winter to pick this up, during the game drought.
I was a huge fan of the original bioshock and im glad what jack did actually had a huge impact on rapture that actually changed rapture a bit so the second game might have a different feel to it

NO big problem nieter way BIOSHOCK 2 will be a great game.
I just love the graphics!
can't wait for this game, the graphics are great, and the story line is cool… need to start playing more of the first one to get more of my trophies 🙂
hopefully they fixed the lip-synch animation
that was really the only thing wrong with the first one
the voice acting was superb, but when you saw andrew ryan talking it was like "what the hell?"
Getting Platinum was so tough, hardest of my Platinums by far, thinking of Survivor makes me scared of this one.
it wasn't too tough
you adapt after playing hard without dying
yeah the lip syncing was pretty bad in some parts of the game. But i hope the multiplayer isn't all fast paced because if it is than i probally don't want to play the MP
Jack will be back, I think their front'in!!
