If this doesn't prove that PSX Extreme has a very unique community, absolutely nothing does.
While we all know that gameplay is always the most important factor in any video game (this is an interactive hobby, after all), we wanted to know what you guys considered to be the second most important element. And we were certain that graphics would run away with the most votes this week; we can guarantee it would at most every other major gaming site on the 'Net. But we kinda forgot how many RPG fans we've got around here, and just how excited many of you are about upcoming games like Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII . Oh, and let's not forget that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots , a game that was essentially defined by its outstanding story, is also greatly beloved 'round these parts. Graphics did come in third and it was sort of close, but the fact that story is so important to so many should only prove to developers that we really do appreciate quality scripts, excellent character development, and well-implemented and choreographed cut-scenes.
This week, considering that Bayonetta has been in the news a lot, we're just gonna ask: who do you think is the hottest video game vixen of the generation thus far? Of course, we can only give you 10 options so we can't satisfy everyone but we tried to hit the highlights. And while we realize that girls like Bayonetta and Madison from Heavy Rain haven't graced our TV screens just yet, it's plenty easy to check 'em out…Madison has been topless already, remember? So who gets your vote? And oh yeah, because all the Dead or Alive girls are designed to be perfect, they're all included in one category.
a good story well told and nice graphics to well complement it are absoloutly nessecary to the succes of a game and in that respect uncharted 2 is king.
Would've voted for Elena Fisher if you had put her in the running.
Yeah, she's the one I was looking for too.
I'm not interested in the unrealistic, bodacious, bouncing babes of video games, such as the girls of DoA and Ninja Gaiden. Those heroines (if you can call the DoA girls heroic) are simply ridiculous and unattractive in my opinion.
Now, a female lead or supporting character, such as Elena Fisher, is very attractive because they are more like real women, and not the exaggerated, non-symmetrical fantasies of adolescent boys.
Story beats gameplay in my opinion.
I agree. I've suffered through terrible gameplay to reach the end of a good story in the past.
me and you both sumtimes i cant get through a game that has no story yet excellent gameplay
I also agree with this. There are games like Shenmue that had gameplay that some would consider boring but I love Shenmue because of the story and characters. Then there are games like Gears Of War where lots of people rave about the gameplay but I got bored with it halfway through because the story was boring and the characters were uninteresting jar-heads.
Xenosaga is like that for me.
i love xenosaga for sum reason all im missing is the third and thas because i think it still cost a little too much
I don't think….much people…or anyone…will choose Meryl…(though mgs4 was an amazing game,….meryl? no..just no…)
Oh and my vote goes to Girls of DoA. Kasumi and Ayane mostly ;3
Meryl was my second favorite, my boy. I don't mind a woman who can kick my ass.
I think most of them can kick our "asses" anyway. XD
Well yeah I stopped reading books for the pretty pictures when I was 5 I mean a nice look goes a long way but a great story takes me places I mean I sometimes find myself getting emotionally involved with some games (call me nerdy or what have you ^_^) and I think its real plus that a game have a moving story ^_^
I voted Depth. Depth is a bit of a vague term, but its the best i could think of at the moment.
I am currently playing Fur Fighters for ps2 for the 3rd time. Good god is that game amazing. The story is nothing to brag about, the audio is good, but not great (awesome music though), and what is online play?
While playing Fur Fighters you realize that the game is bigger than just a bunch of levels. Its completely subliminal and hard to pinpoint, but theres a certain depth to the game that is more than just a few individual parts.
Had i not been playing Fur Fighters again i would have voted for Story.
I went with depth because I'm sorta shallow.

Oh and for beautiful gaming women my vote goes to Bayonetta I dunno I've got something for the leggy ones with accents lol
It's okay to get emotional…(remembers FFX and Kingdom Hearts)…
Crying's okay here, right everybody?
I barely recovered from my original tearfest and now there are two thumbs down on me? This is a cruel world. /cry
Nariko has them all beat. The beauty lies within. Laying down you're life for a friend tops them all, and is the most awesome act possible.
GOD! DAMN YOU BEN!
How can you make me choose between Nariko and Meryl
I'd so go with Meryl if she hadn't gone with that jackass Jhonny -_-
Nariko for the win! Long swirling red hair!
And yes story is one of the most important things in games. Not all genres need it, but it's very important in the genres that do.
You can't tell me a half assed Final Fantasy X would've been as fun
or a dumbed down Zelda: Ocarina of TIme
Those games are on a level of their own just because of how amazing the stories are
i havent played metal gear solid 4 for a long time so i'm hazy with the minor details. damn it kojima, release the trophy set already, what are you waiting for.
johnld
Yeah, I`ve played MGS4 3 times. Now, I`m just waiting for that trophy patch. If it ever comes.
But anyway, I choose Nariko. Never seen such pretty redhead…with that tight body….ahem.
ok for the vote, we are not talking about which is the best or most meaningful female character here(that would have to be The Boss); we are talking about who is the hottest here, so the look and overall appearance and body is the most focal point, Megan Fox is hot not because of anything she says right, she is hot because of her appearance and body right, right? so i am not factoring in the depth of the female character here.
so with that considered, then i have to go with the DOA girls. nothing better than that, also the Rumble Roses girls are pretty damn hot too.

This generation?
Megan Fox=Toe Thumbs
Hey, where the heck are the ladies from Soul Calibur? No Xianghua? No Cassandra? No Sophitia?
And, what happened to Rosie or Selvaria Bles from Valkyria?
How can you have Girls of DOA, unless I missed something, there hasn't been a DOA game on PS3.
Considering the choices, I suppose it'll have to be Chloe.
the lovely ladies with the bazooms are still in this generation though. And at least one is in the NG Sigma games. (I think anyway, those games are too hard for me)
Or Amy,Tira or even Ivy.I'm telling you; Soul Calibur gets no respect.
i like the idea of selvaria but they completely screwed up the story of valkyria chronicles in the anime. Do yourselves a favor and not watch it. I was pissed off when i was watching the last 10 episodes, i was only disappointed before then.
I really needed to put in characters people would recognize, no offense. Any characters in VC just don't qualify.
And yeah, SC has plenty of hot chicks, but DoA's entire purpose for existing seems to be hotties ('cough' Xtreme Beach Volleyball 'cough'). 😉
Yea Highlander, I was gonna say SCIV girls.
"I really needed to put in characters people would recognize"
Madison??
Meryl???
Elika????
@ben
Like I said about the DOA Girls, this generation? I understand the nature of their appeal, and the nature of the DOA eXtreme Volleyball game, but I still don't remember seeing such a game on a Playstation platform this generation…just sayin''''
…Soul Calibur get's no respect…grumble…grumble….Sophitia is hot in chiffon btw…grumble…no respect I tells ya!…no respect…
thought so, I voted for story too because I remember in the dark days of RPGs I didn't care that they had the worst graphics possible because there was a story behind it.
People are gonna like Chloe cuz Uncharted 2 is so huge now, but I gotta go with Nariko. Just make Heavenly Sword 2 somehow!
I would have voted story myself but it was added after I had already voted.
its not even a contest.
Lara croft all the way baby.
she may be old, but that just means she has more experience.
Speaking of old tomb raiders, Angelina Jolie looks like a broke-ass busted crackhead these days.
@ World: Now thats really funny cause its actually pretty true, what happened to her.
While I love the old tomb raider games I really haven't enjoyed one on the ps2 or ps3 so for that reason alone I am going to go with Chloe. Though Lara is really hot.
World, she still has awesome lips though! She has two great smiles, one horizontal and one vertical!
Q!
"i am home"
lara croft, is a cougar looking for young players these days.
I don't care if it's just a bunch of x's and o's running around screen, if the story and gameplay is great, then I'm happy. Just like the text based games of long ago. No graphics at all, just words. But some had terrific stories that pulled you in.
I voted for, longevity.,story is the least of my concerns…
on this poll,i have to go with,Nariko, hands down..
so you prefer a game that is long and has a crappy story.
do you like to torture yourself ?
Yep, then it's just like life; long, tortuous and with a nonsensical plot that just meanders to an unsatisfying climax. lol
What about girls from soul caliber! i remember them extra bouncy :P.haha.. But i still would've picked nariko! woohoo.. <3
I chose Ratchet (Ninja Gaiden Sigma).
…
I was about to point out your error, then I remembered the 'Bouncer' weapon from Going Commando and realized there was no error…from a certain point of view.
It was intended, but only for the incorrect spelling possibility that I saw 😉
