There are plenty of great games to be had this holiday season, but few are what you would call straight-up, over-the-top, bad-ass, hack 'n slash, press buttons until your fingers cramp action titles.
Thing is, we have to wait for Bayonetta until January, even though it's already out in Japan. And maybe you've already had your fill of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and aren't as stoked by the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Assassin's Creed II . Therefore, you might want to import Bayonetta and surprisingly enough, the language barrier won't be an issue: according to Siliconera , "the Japanese PlayStation 3 version is region free and entirely in English." The instruction manual isn't but everything in the game, from the menus to the voices, is…although we're not entirely sure why . But maybe we shouldn't ask that question; maybe we should be happy that if we absolutely needed Bayonetta right this instant, we could do it without sacrificing any understanding of the story. They say Play-Asia has some copies left so if you're sick of waiting for the game that scored a perfect 40/40 from Famitsu, feel free to wait no longer.
Of course, we should probably clarify that it was the Xbox 360 version that nailed down that perfect score; the PS3 version scored a little lower, coming in at 38/40. Well, that's the bit you sacrifice for being a port, I guess.
