3D Realms is gone and all that remains are the shifting, wispy hopes that Duke Nukem Forever will somehow find a new home with a new studio. But who says ex-Realms members aren't still checking out the competition?
Former Forever director George Broussard has been talking about Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , and his comments are those of a man who is completely blown away by a game experience. He has been gushing about the Game of the Year candidate over at the ShackNews forums , and Broussard says the game is "epic bad-assery" and that everyone really should "believe the hype." But at the same time, because the production is so unbelievably accomplished and polished, Broussard adds that "it's not even fair" and because Uncharted 2 is really that good, he finds the entire thing pretty "intimidating." Here are a few more of his awestruck statements:
"It's rare that I like games this much. There's virtually no fail in them. Very polished and well done on every level. These are master works, up there with the tops games being made. You may as well be playing great Indiana Jones movies.
Game of the year. Can't see anything else besting it, even the mighty Modern Warfare 2. We shall see. That's the battle, imo, for Game of the Year. I can't take any more. The game will set bars so high that every action game will be a disappointment to play. Much like Half-Life did."
Then Broussard finished it and simply said it's one of the "most amazing games" he has ever played and what the Naughty Dog team achieved is just "unbelievable." Then- "It's seriously hard to think about playing another game after this. It'd be like watching some random movie after just having seen Star Wars." Hey, we hear ya man; we kinda feel the exact same way. I'll be constructing an editorial of my own towards the end of the week, and there will be some compliments in there, too. 😉
Related Game(s): Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
When I finished Uncharted 2. I can't help it but to clap. You know that feeling when you've watched a really great entertaining movie. I felt weird because I have never done that before. Everybody should experience it. It would provide you with an amazing time. The best $60 i've spent my money with.
Good for you.
I made some comments imply slight disappointment about U2, earlier. After playing a bit deeper into the game (and on a different TV), I'd like to rescind them. This is the prettiest game on any platform, including PC.
Ok guys, I realize it's hard to hear sarcasm (or no sarcasm) on the internet but I was serious haha.
I tried to make it sound genuine ^_^
Man the kids these days really made "Good for you" a pretty snarky phrase didn't they? lol

Ya I freakin love this game it really is amazing
Even Desructoid took Microsoft's cock out of their mouth long enough to say something nice about it.
uncharted 2 is truly the best game of the generation the graphics are the best I've seen, the story is great, and gameplay is almost perfect this is the best game i have ever played anyone who wants to play multiplayer with me just add me PSN ID: bomba2812

unchrted has now became the staple franchise of ps3,…………this is 1 o' the best games o' this hd-gen………
Unchartered 2 is the PS3… it is Cell and RSX… it is life 🙂
"i am home"
This is the game that makes me proud I went with a PS3 instead of a 360 back in '06.
i almost got a 360 bak in 06 december for xmas but decided to wait and get the ps3 couldnt betray sony to many games
Fellow members of psxextreme, time to sell your 360's. You won't be needing them, anymore.

Naughty Dog has much to be proud of.
Like I said,
Uncharted 2 = Unbelievably Fun, Unimaginably Beautiful, Unrivalled graphics, Unmistakenly Awesome, Unmatchable gameplay mechanics, Unparalleled experience ever, and lastly UNofficially Game Of The Year.
One of the best devs right now if not the best….
best story ever i have experienced. second to mgs4 . this game is a beast. if u have not bought it u r missing out. the online is epic
I'm barely in the beginning and I'm stunned at how amazing this game is…
Nothing touches this game. Only MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet are at its level imo
And probably Killzone2
PS: Gran Turismo 5 will push Uncharted 2 to the side though. I see GT5 being the sickets game of all time.
Yeah. I used up my sick days on this one. I got so sucked into it that I had beat it twice in three days and had 25 hours into it. Crushing mode is killing me, though, but now I have the multiplayer to give me my fix. Already can't wait for part 3!!
That's right Uncharted 2 all day; although I can't help thinking that maybe he would love for Naughty Dog to pick up the DNF game.
Naughty Dog – setting the bar – one game at a time! Uncharted 2 simply one of the greatest games ever made.
huh, praise from Caesar himself.
About to beat it again on hard. Then I shall take on crushing. Multiplayer is awesome. The co-op is a lot of fun too. This game is right under MGS4. My number two favorite PS3 game. Infamous was my fav this year. Not anymore.
Agreed on the MGS4 part. U2 and that were my two favorite games this generation–both are immensely satisfying. Job well done Kojima and Naughty Dog.
im gonna disagree with both of you!
MGS4 is one of the best games ever, and brought on an epic story!
but for me the Uncharted series (being both games) brought such emersion for me as a player, i cant ignore that! the way i felt while playing and the way i felt when finishing both games was absolutely astonishing! i remember i finished uncharted and it went up as my fav. game. then came MGS4 and i quickly said this is my fav. game. Later i played through Uncharted: Drakes Fortune again and about half way through i quickly realized it was my fav. game. needless to say Uncharted 2: among thieves has wow'd me further. These two games both brought epic tales and ND has become my fav. developer in doing so both creating awesome games that stand up to the hype and the nay sayers, and being a great company that is all about their work, instead of politics.
sorry for the rant, but as i said the uncharted series brings such great feeling of accomplishment, there is no denying it!
I agree with bigrailer. I Prefer Uncharted 2 to MGS4.
I think I can see what this is leading up to.
Some studio is going to pick up DNF and this guy is going to get back on the job, however after seeing what awesome tricks the ps3 can do he decides to start from scratch on making a new engine for ps3. However after 6 years of developing that new engine that looks better than uncharted 2, uncharted 4 comes out and puts his work to shame so he decides to start over again.
Or at least that is what I'm thinkin
This made me laugh very hard. Simply due to the fact that it is possible. Reminds me of when Homer made the prediction about the meteor that was gonna destroy Springfield. Classic laughs. Thanks man LOL!
Funny, Uncharted 2 is the **** at the moment while Uncharted 1 wasn't even a GOTY contender.
This just shows how much effort ND put into Uncharted 2.
It was GOTY contender for me
Think it won GOTY here at psxe too
After Unchartered 2, how can any multi plat ever measure up again; or even come close?
I feel sorry for multi plat and for the X Bots… At least Gears is one redeeming factor for them. Whilst their Gears are stuck in 6th, we roared pasted 7th and 8th and 9th… onto 10 with Unchartered 3…
"i am home"
Multiplatformers and exclusives, alike, U2 blows everything out of the water, including Gears. It even bests MGS4 in terms of graphics.
ND did the best they can for it, though I would have love it if they use 50GB, that way they're gonna make the 'naughtiest' game ever…..

clearly you didn't play Batman. It isn't better than Uncharted 2 but that was a surprisingly awesome game (easily in my top five for the year). Multiplats are fine so long as care is taken, ports are straight up ass.
I am on my second U2 game on hard and still loving it, I was tempted to skip the cut scenes for time's sake but they are so good I just can't…
Aftab I totally agree!
The voice-acting and story in U2 are stellar. This is only the second game I've played where I really felt like I was playing through a movie. The first was Heavenly Sword.
Is anyone else amazed at how far story-telling in video games has come.
u didnt feel that way in Uncharted: drakes fortune? i know i did and yes heavenly sword is another good example!
Besides feeling like your playing through an action packed movie, the game brings such emersion as a player i havnt felt any where else!
Nah, the first one didn't grab me the way this one did. Maybe 'cuz I wasn't feelin' Elena like I was feeling Chloe. 🙂
Honestly, I haven't even finished the first one. But, I'm about half-way through, and the story isn't nearly as gripping.
welp lol i mean thats how you feel and i can not agree more uncharted 2 is gripping to say the least!
for me though both games undoubtedly had me hangin on (literally ;)!) every last cut scene and action seuqence! both in my opinion had great story telling, and awesome scripts! u need to finish the first one too, it is epic!
Last edited by bigrailer19 on 10/20/2009 2:52:51 PM
i do gotta say your right about chloe too! sept id much rather be drake and had a chance with both! 😉
Lol Troy, I still like Elena though, Chloe is more like the one-night standers you don't have to commit your whole life to. To me the first one, Drake's Fortune was epic and so is part 2. It's just, Part 2 has more variety and longevity.
U2 is GOTY for sure!
I had to stop in and say if you want to enjoy the game even more, read Nate's Notebook from front to back, you learn quite a bit about him and the other characters. The big plus for me was when I read all the funny things Nate had to say. Check it out.
Haven't played much since I don't have the game (christmas ;)) but I have see lots of game play from my friends and I am happy to see that this one is way better than the first happy to see they fixed alot of issues from the first and online play is super fun. Can't wait to get my copy
its good but, i still hate the hollywood storyline and 1 liners etc.
Best graphics yet, most polished game yet.
although for me, nothing on Demons Souls.
your a weirdo! lol j/k
everyone has preference, but i must say the 1 liners are funny, and the "hollywood storyline" you mentioned should have notes taken on it! This is one of the best scripts i have ever seen in a video game, and there is no doubting that! hollywood should take advice!
and the actors in this game should all be doing the film. I watched what they go through to voice and they are doing stunts while voice acting to get the correct emphasis. these actors are really acting just set them as cast!
What you sited as bad for me were the best aspects of the game.Just shows that everyone has different taste in games.
Its good to see respect to my opinion rather than attack me for an opinion so, thanx.
I hate Hollywood basically. Im a film buff more than game buff and make sure i watch at least 3 new films from anywhere in the world a week.
Everytime i watch a hollywood film, especially newer, i feel ill. No originality, no effort, all eye candy and no depth and they get so much more attention then something with depth, meaning, effort, well thought out narrative etc. Same goes for the music industry too.
Uncharted is a piece from that Hollywood pie. It has its one liners, its all eye candy, its all explosions etc. However, attention to character detail is fantastic for a video game, despite my tastes, its phenomenal. Voice acting is fantastic for what it is. The orchestral score is incredible. But, it doesn't save it clashing with everything else to do with my tastes.
I find the story to Ico to be much more meaningful, emotional and well thought out because it makes you think and never holds your hand.
Put simply, i prefer arthouse/more world cinema over Hollywood style or, on video games, Role playing/depth/constructive types to just shooting in great looking set pieces.
its your opinion! why would i bash that! its not obserd like alot of comments which sometimes need be dealt with so…
i guess im one for explosions then! although in my opinion the game portrays a much deeper truth than just a hollywood action esque vid! I mean the way i became attached to the characters, in both games, brought great emersion into the game, and made a much more enjoyable experience! both games are great and uncharted 2 has risen the bar and its simply fantastic, and the script is phenomenal!
i am glad you said aside from your interests and taste that the game is great, thats just shows it has undoubtedly done everything right! i love all aspects of the game, while some of your tastes in that stuff are not there it hit home with you on other aspects! therefor leaving nothing out and hitting home with everyone in some sort of way!
