A keen NeoGAF'er by the name of goldsoundz spotted something that Resistance fans are going to be super excited about. In Louisiana, a shoot for a movie called Battle: Los Angeles is underway, and when a few strangers happened to drive past the shooting location, they noticed a billboard for Resistance 3. This billboard, by the way, was created specifically for the movie, so don't expect to see these show up around your area. It's meant to be a tie-in advertisement, and seeing as how Battle: LA won't be released until February 2011, we wouldn't expect to see the game released until Fall 2010, the earliest.
In the new R3 logo, you will notice two very distinct features: a silhouette of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. So, welcome your third game to the mean streets of New York City, which should make for a very awesome game location, if done right, and not like, say…Prototype or the Spider-Man games. The billboard dawns the all new PS3 logos, as well as a Rating Pending stamp from the ESRB, which adds a little credence to it not being fake.
If history is any indication, we'd say that a Fall 2010 is a likely release for the game, simply going by Insomniac's development/release cycle between Ratchet and Resistance. An announcement probably won't happen until early next year, perhaps not until Game Developers Conference.
Related Game(s): Resistance 3
Whaaaaaat?! Kind of a crazy way to find out about R3 😛
Oh… I just read the full article and found out that the billboard is specifically for a tie-in-advertisement for the movie… but still – it's a crazy cool way to find out about the game! 🙂
Yeah, funny how reading the article always helps one to understand the title.
A Marine platoon faces off against an alien invasion in Los Angeles. <–Movie Synopsis
What a good way to advertise Resistance 3 cross selling a video game about the same kind of thing.
Sounds like the type of movie that was specifically made for advertisement/product placement.
"Joe, leader of the batallion, gears up to face off with the aliens after playing R3 at home while driking Rockstar sitting on his new Ikea couch placed inside his Toll Brothers built home that houses the new Cadillac CTS."
HOLY CRAP!!!!
Hmmmm…cool, loved R2, is R3 going to bring end to the series?
Hope not.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the lead character in R3 should be James Grayson instead of Hale? Loved R:R
don't you remember Nathan hale was killed at the end of R2
Hence James Grayson being the protagonist…
actualy theres no real proof he died i mean for all we know he could still be alive and yess i do know he got shot in the back of the head im just stating a fact its a video game so youll never know what could happen
Too true. I firmly believe that Nathan Hale will return in the next game. They only showed a split second of him being shot and I think that after absorbing the boss's (forget his name) energy, he would have "uber-regeneration."
Of course I could just be in denial. I liked what they did with Hale in the second game.
I especially remember when the doctor asks him how he's feeling and he responds (in a badass voice), "Mostly human."
Bomba that's the biggest spoiler from the game o_O
Even if I believe it's not true.
HEY ASSHOLES, THANKS FOR THE SPOILERS. I STILL HAVEN'T BEATEN R2. FUCKING IDIOTS MABEY YOU SHOULD PUT SPOILER ALERTS AT THE TOP OF YOUR POSTS!!!!
Soooo excited, hope the campain is more like R1 than R2 but the online is like R2.
at the end of R2, where are they?
Earth.
With menacing red winds ripping past.
cool though with the ending in r2 we all knew a sequel was coming
I hope we get news soon, I loved R1 and R2. I like the way Insomniac is releasing their games, One year Ratchet & Clank and the next Resistance. Keeps from becoming like Madden where its just minor improvements, this way it gives them the right amount of time to improve each game.
Hmmmm…
I've been wondering ever since I finished R2 if Insomniac was going to a spiritual sequel to Disruptor…
good memory.
I remember Disrupter to be really hard.

New York City!!!!!!!!!
Yes! Bring it!
THIS is the kind of marketing I like
SCEA should do more of this
why do people take shots at prototype any chance they get…they always say that the geography wasnt colorful, well have you seen NY, its actually kind of bland not much color there, IMO Prototype did a good job depicting NYC…im dorry that was really off topic
back on topic…i cant wait to hear more about Resistance 3 and i really hope that it does come out next year
GTAIII did a great job
you mean GTAIV right?
Both
They're both based on NYC
i live in ny and im gona tell you know its not as collerless as youre making it sound prototype was a bad imitation of ny
Although I was nowhere near disappointed with R2 there was something that left me empty after I finished it. The game never made me go, Damn! Or had me getting excited to take on as many Chimera as I can at once. People are b!tching about how wave upon wave of enemies in U2 are a nuisance but I say the more the better the action. I know R3 will be awesome.
It's … beautiful…
I think it has more of a sxy look to it
(in Mr. Hankeys's voice:)
"Gosh, it smells a lot like flowers…"
Time to save my pennies. Resistance games have always been a hell of a knock of entertainment. Sure, Call Of Duty MW has plenty of things that other shooters cant match… but the fun that Resistance brings can't be matched imo.
I liked the first one,the second meh not so much..
hope, they go back to their roots on this one(health packs, able to carry all guns, etc)
Resistance 1 was amazing 2 I didn't get the chance to complete…..by the wat nice avatar hehehe
The anticipation is killing me!
I would love for them to make another installment on the PSP. But Resistance 2 online was totally kickass.
i was so disappointed with resistance 2.
the SP was boring as hell, i dont understand why but i really was disappointed buy it.
resistance fall of man i have finished like 6 times by myself, and play it all the time when my cuz comes over because its the only decent game with co-op and with him ive finished it god knows how many times.
R2 i finished on hard, finished it on superhuman and was happy to be done with it.
online though, thats a different story.
i find the online in resistance 2 is second only to killzone 2.
uncharted 2s online for some reason i hate.
R2 gets nowhere near enough credit. It's still the single best FPS I've played this generation with the exception of KZ2.
People say they didn't like it and give no REASONS
And if they give one is that Hale now has CHARACTER?
How can having a strong personality and a goal be bad?
For me R2 was amazing, it threw into so many situations. And it was truly more diverse in terms of gameplay. Guess people like simpler games? Guess R2 had too much going on? People's brains couldn't take it?
Anyway it was pretty awesome for me, oh and I dislike FPSs with a passion.
im almost posetive there working on this now, since R&C just went gold a few days ago.
but i doubt this would be announced at GDC.
have any games been announced at GDC?
thats normally more for game engines and such, ive never really seen any high profile games announced or showed.
my bet would be on E3, that way if the game runs into some difficulties and gets set back we wont have to wait to long for it.
ive been preying sony would take a more strategic what if attitude to their game announcements and it looks like they have finally listened.
for once.
I _think_ LBP was first revealed at GDC.

How can anyone resist… Resistance is futile 🙂
Q!
"i am home"
Health regeneration was introduced in R2 for a purpose, so my guess is at the end when Hale gets shots in the head he regenerates his health. and in R3 they will go back to health packs. And i believe Sony should use Columbia Pictures to advertise PS3 games in movies. I keep seeing 360 in so many movies.
makes sense Taus,hope you're right….
yea..Sony should use Columbia pictures to advertise ps3 like they did with their vaios in Resident evil, for example…
@metallicSnake,thanks Bro,you too,glad to see fellow metallica fan…
By the way I watched All the gameplay on Metal Gear games on youtube, and have to say its Brilliant storywise, gameplay not my thing though,i did play the one for the NES almost 20 years ago,ill probably buy the 3 pack for ps2 and mg4 for ps3,in the near future..
Now if they can make this game with better graphics than KZ2, it will truly be the best fps available.
I love the first Resistance but was very disappointed in the second one, hopefully the 3rd will be way better than the second.
Loved both Resistance 1 and 2.
However, I'll be kind of surprised if we're fighting in NYC. Wouldn't it be more fun and cool to fight on those big broken planet-things (as I call them) that we saw at the end of R2?
^It'd be nice if I could take one of those like Chimeran Fighters and Fly there and have some air combat before hand as well but it probably won't happen.
Loved R1; R2 was disappointing to me. There's so much I want R3 to be, have and do but I doubt i'll get what I want but looking forward to seeing how it turns out anyway. If it's coming 2011 that's at least one thing I wanted, so the game could get more time for development for graphics, story, level design (more open doors, less invisible walls), gameplay features and features in general (I expect record to HDD, screenshots and custom soundtracks for R3). I'll stop because I always go on and on talking about my R3 hopes.
I know for sure that if R3 is set in NEW JERK then its definately not the end. They have to still go into Russia where it all started.
