It's an all-time classic and a title that certainly deserves to be revisited, if only to intrigue a whole new generation of gamers.
New details have come to light concerning an Earthworm Jim remake; Gameloft has decided to treat us to the baseline information: it'll be based on the Sega Genesis version of the game and it's being "completely reworked from scratch." In other words, we can expect enhanced visuals, smoother animations and difficulty settings (which weren't included in the original title). We'll even have the extra level – "Big Bruty" – featured in the Special Edition released way back when for the Sega CD and PC. And of course, in the spirit of a new online-oriented generation, leaderboards will be used to track vanquished foes, total time spent playing, and a bunch of other statistics. Lastly, it seems Gameloft is considering bringing the game to the new PSP Go as well, but for the time being, they're involved in creating new Minis for Sony's fresh portable. But the mere fact that Earthworm Jim is on its way back is enough to give us nostalgic goosebumps, just 'cuz it ruled so much back in the day.
How many other classics might see the light of day once again? Revamped, remastered, reworked, etc.? Oh man, the list could be endless…

ELITE.
agreed.
I remember playing this on PSOne i think, really weird but fun game.
Off topic: Are the forums down? I can't seem to load it at all.
PS1? Wasn't aware this was ever on PS1. I owned this on the SNES.
Edit: just looked it up. You must have played EWJ2. The original was never on the PS1 however the sequel was.

Yeah, it probably was I just remember playing a Earthworm Jim game.
Earthworm Jim was never on the PS1 ! It came out on the PC, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Game Gear, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advanced !
This is great news though ! I haven't played EWJ since I owned a SNES !
Trying to navigate your sub in those underwater caves without cracking the glass was soooooo frustrating. This was the 1st game that made me shout out loud at my TV. Fun game. Will definanlty check this out. Just hope it doesn't lose it's charm like the Turltes in Time remake.
loved the level you had to catch the suicidal cows LOL
I really was joking when I said something about Earthworm Jim on the forum… wow.
Earthworm Jim! Epic, can't wait to see what they do with it, and hopefully they don't screw it up somehow.
Off topic but Uncharted demo is available on the PSN store NOW.
Also, never played Earthworm Jim but liked the idea of it.
Hay I saw that … Im downloading it now!
yea same here, and i cant wait for this game, i loved it when i was 4 and im gonna love it again
I've had an itch that can only be scratched by yanking my body out of my powersuit and whippin' it at someone in my way. Finally, my time has come!
wow i forgot about this game. i wonder why they never made a pt.3
Can we get some new IPs?
Wow man the concept for earthworm jim killed me when I was a kid! And who wouldn't want another shot at saving his hot hot hotty of a girlfriend??? Im all for it!
Yes … now my Special Edition Sega CD copy will be obsolete and devalue … just what every collector wants to hear! Wonder what my copies of Lunar silver star story and eternal blue will be worth in the next few months?!?!
Maybe it isn't what you want to hear, but its what gamers want to hear. I'm sick of having to pay over $100 to play games that in some cases are only a little over 10 years old. The cost of nostalgia is going down and gamers everywhere can rejoice!
You probably ought to forget trying to use games as an investment opportunity…
True, true … to both of you
So Interplay still got money left to work on a game?
Good thing. Earthworm Jim is just great!
Gameloft better not eff Earthworm Jim up or I"m sticking with roms YEAH EMULATORS!!

I love emulators too! I have an N64, DSi, GBA, and Sega Genesis.
The "Night on Bald Mountain" soundtrack was hilarious. I remember digging this on SNES. It was really ahead of its time.
