Need for Speed: SHIFT is one of the best racers of the year but if you're still on the fence concerning a purchase, you might want to wait until Thursday.
EA has told Strategy Informer that a playable demo will hit both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace on October 1, so you can decide if you'd like to add it to your holiday wish list. Five cars will be included and you can test 'em out on either the world-famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps or the London River course. Just remember; if you want to unlock the fifth car – the Pagani Zonda F – you're going to have to perform admirably on both tracks and collect enough stars. The in-cockpit view isn't for everyone and if you're thinking it's like past installments in this long-running franchise, you should know that SHIFT is more of a driving simulator. It's both realistic and intense and if you want a sample, download this bad boy in a few days and try it out for yourself. By the way, here are the five cars:
So if you think you've got what it takes to tackle this innovative racer, open the door and step into this pseudo-virtual racing reality. It's a total blast.

What an odd time to push out a demo…
Great game though, the best racer i've played in a long time.
Why can't we just get the demos before release dates. Is it to prolong sales?
this, the uncharted demo, the mag beta, so much to do.
And if you want to purchase it this week, Best Buy has it on sale for 39.99. Just a suggestion.
i look forward this, as there aren't many racers i can play and not suck at:(
And if you do buy it, and the patch is not out to fix the handling issues, be prepared to make some adjustments to the settings.
Once I did that, this game became an exceptional one.
What handling issues are there? I've been playing with my Driving Force GT on my pc and havent noticed anything peculiar.
What kind of handling issues are there? My brothers have played this pretty much since it came out and neither have said anything. Maybe they just adjust the cars, I know my one brother loves to tune the cars just right.

1 – The tremendous ammount of oversteer on the cars. It seems the FF, FR, AWD cars all drive the same.
2 – The cars are certain tracks, will begin to bounce. I have had only happen once, I was driving a Mazda RX-8, on the Horse track (name escapes me).
3 – One of the issues, has been patched though. The PS3 version had a very low deformation model.
Go to NFS.com for a detailed description. There are some threads there, in which even has the devs acknowledging the issues, and stating that things are being investigated.
I don't use a steering wheel, so all I did was adjust the deadzones, and things began to feel right to me.
After that, it was just a matter of tuning each car.
Yeah I'm putting off MAG because it didn't live up to expectations, I love the ambition but don't commend the execution. I'm glad a demo is coming, 60% of my friends play this non stop so I gotta see what all the fuss is about.
My mates were going mad after watching the NFS:S trailers, they thought it was 'gonna be sikk'. A week later they back on Call of Duty lol. Bad times.
…. and in related news, another site reports the 360 version of NFS attempts to connect to PSN, just going to show that the 360 hates its' own self so much it wants to be a PS3! hahahaha
LMAO!!!
Thursday is by far the best workday day of the week 😀
Need For Speed: Shift and Brutal Legend Thursday? Looking good so far for demos!
Yussssssssssss!
that's awesome
I wonder if I can use my G25 wheel?
Of course.
Forza 3 demo works with the MS wheel.
i only really like SIM racers and this is suppose to be some kind of hyrid i hear
should i encourage a friend to get then borrow from him?
what do u guys think?
i love the cockpit mode.
for some strange reason, i seem to do better in cockpit mode than any other camera configuration.
this is by far the best driving game ive ever played, bar burnout paradise.
only thing thats dissapointed me is its difficulty is so unbalanced.
tier 1 is so easy a 5 year old could ace every track, tier 2 some of the events are impossible and some are piss easy.
its like playing the game on easy and hard at the same time.
wow. just played the demo. will be getting this! these guys should seriously consider doing a 100% rally game, amirite?
