First, Final Fantasy Versus XIII producer Tetsuya Nomura said we'd have to wait until early next year to receive the first set of official details, info and media. Then, a video suddenly and unexpectedly popped up at the Tokyo Game Show last week.
Now, I would've been the first to show it to you, but there was something strange about it. See, there were whispers going around that despite the fact that it appeared to portray actual gameplay, Square-Enix was saying it wasn't gameplay; that it was just a "tech test" of some kind. So I had to wait and I'm glad I did, as Nomura has clarified things according to Andriasang citing the latest Famitsu issue. The footage of the main character, Noctis, running around town and then out in a field populated by large monsters was shot on camera. But as it turns out, this really wasn't from a development version of the game, "but rather part of a technology test." Basically, S-E just produced this clip to prove that yes, they were indeed working on Versus XIII , and they wanted to show players how they plan to make night and day scenes very different in this particular game. The NPCs in the video? They just borrowed 'em from FFXIII. And really, not much of anything you see in that video – we'll grab it for you soon, but it's not high on our priority list – will be in the final game.
Perhaps the only part of the trailer that might be accurate is Noctis himself, who may appear as he will appear in Versus XIII . Nomura says this character is "pretty much finalized" and as far as the team's actual progress is concerned, Nomura adds that they've been working on tests "since last year" and they've been increasing the staff since this past Spring. Now that development on FFXIII is mostly complete, members of that team are starting to gravitate over to the Versus XIII team, so things should start speeding up now. And that's all we know…we wait anxiously for the official stuff, maybe in January.

I find it hard to tell sometimes on these FF vid's what I am looking at, is it actual gameplay, controlled by the player or is the player sat still watching a cg sequence.
Ben, anything that involves Versus is an interest to me. It doesn't matter if it is only a development build or not. 😉

The new details and information better not disappoint.
I believe this game has more potential than XIII. This is definitely on my most wanted list.

Don't be suprised if its xbox related. Square enix sure knows how to disappoint fans.

didn't squeenix say they wanted this game advent children quality CG? If so then that alone should make it only possible on PS3.
I fear this going to be multiplat I read some article on Kotaku about Squarenix cutting jobs..heh looks like the money MS give them for ignore the Ps3 in the end wasn't enough.
perhaps they are going to make this multiplat to get money from all userbases possible .

Well see. Im sure XIII will be great either way. Theres no way of knowing how much better it could have been. Well just have to wait and see. if it suffers from the typical multiplat problems we see with most Xbox/PS3 games then well know. Hopefully that wont be the case and the PS3 version will be superior due the fact the fact the PS3 version was started and completed 1st.
Remember when FFVIII came out in 98, and FFIX in 99, then FFX in 2001. After that it jumped to FFXI in 03 and FFXII in 06….
… things really changed this decade, 4+ years between installments as had its way of dropping my excitement.

I think part of it for me was Microsoft interference.
These devs have to make games that they knew would be magnificant on the ps3 inferior to what they could've been just so they'd work on other systems.
God of War 3 – Uncharted 2 -Killzone 2 awesome looking games but I highly doubt Sony's machine has even scratched the surface yet.
