Blur has just streaked on by without stopping at its original destination; it has now joined the swelling ranks of titles delayed until next year.
Activision has announced that Bizarre Creations simply isn't done with this promising racing title and it will miss its November 3 release date. Unlike other delayed games, this has nothing to do with the holiday competition; it seems development is just behind so now, the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions are due some time in 2010. Activision says the designers will be using this added time to fine-tune the game's online multiplayer component, which will allow up to 20 cars racing at one time. In all, the game will boast over 50 licensed cars plus real-world racetracks, so it should be a definite purchase consideration for those who like this style (ala Burnout ). And in all honesty, while we definitely want a shot at Blur , we'll be plenty busy enough with all the titles that are slated to drop within the next few months. Besides, we're not supporters of the idea that a publisher should rush out a game just to have it on store shelves; if the devs need more time, give it to 'em. We're patient. We can wait. We'd much rather have a good game later than a mediocre game now.
Activision is banking on that same philosophy it seems, so Bizarre Creations now has ample time to get everything right. Let's hope they don't waste the extra weeks (or months).
