Valkyria Chronicles is still one of the best PlayStation 3 exclusive titles available and is widely revered by RPG and strategy fans everywhere.
This is why the hardcore fans were a mite disappointed when they learned that the direct sequel would be headed to the PSP, with no mention of a PS3 installment. At the time of the announcement, Sega said they wanted to bring this new franchise to a whole different audience and while that makes sense, it kinda seems like they're ignoring the many who made Valkyria Chronicles successful in the first place. Of course, plenty of PS3 owners also have a PSP so they can still play the upcoming sequel, but for those who have no intention of owning a PSP…well, they just want VC to return to Sony's flagship console. And thankfully, that could still happen if this PSP entry does well. Here's what Sega of America Assistant Community Manager Aaron Webber had to say over at the European PlayStation Blog :
"So far it seems like most of the fans are really just happy to see the series continue – and, if VCII sells well, it means a much greater chance that the series can pick up again back on a larger console, like the PS3.
I’ll see how the controls play when I get a hands-on with it at TGS next week. The team behind Valkyria is absolutely fantastic, so I have no doubts they’ve found a way to make it work."
Hence, if you'd like to see the series return to the PS3, maybe you should buy the PSP so you can play Valkyria Chronicles II . That would help to insure a new PS3 installment arrives at some point. For our part, we just don't know why this sequel can't come to both the portable and the home console…it would seem logical.

I just watched the Valkyria Chronicles ending on youtube and….ouch…
YAY! im getting a ps3 tomorrow!! ^_^
I'll definitely get this
Sigh, I played it but I was never able to finish it =( I felt kind of bad because it seems interesting but dunno, other games just got in the way, maybe one day I'll finish it @_@
DAMMIT! EVERYONE GO BUY THIS GAME!!!!
Seriously though, if the sequel is half as good as the first game then it is totally worth whatever a psp game costs these days.
Don't pirate, buy VC2 guys.
I love the series but i just dont like that the sequel is on psp. I'm thinking it would loose stuff that made it great on the ps3, like the visuals. I dont know if i'm getting VC2 because i dont really play games on handhelds right now. We all know that not all ps3 owners have a psp so i dont know what made them decide to go with the psp.
I may pick up a PSP go mostly to lay this game but PSX games look like hammered shit on an HDTV and I have heard they look fine on the PSP.
oh man, not the typo you want to make.
LOL, oops.
Yes, PSX games look far better on PSP, Playing FFVII on the PSP is disturbingly like playing a regular PSP game. Sometimes in the rush of things you forget just how ahead of the crowd FFVII was.
Why on earth would the success of a PSP title determine the return to the console? That makes no sense at all. I have no intention of ever getting a psp unless I find a job where I can sit on my ass all day with nothing to do.
That is unusual and I don't agree with that decision should they go strictly by the PSP sales. What's worst is that piracy is still plaguing handhelds and – regardless of any argument pirates might make – they do have a crippling effect on the sales numbers.
And yes, my problem with PSP is that I really don't have the time to sit down with one. I rarely travel, and when I do decide to play something, I prefer it on my TV. I had a PSP, but the main reason I got it was for Valkyrie Profile, since the PS1 copies were going for up to 120 bucks. I hope Sony does well enough with PSPGo to hopefully combat the piracy a little and bring more money into Sega's pocket.
I think Webber, SEGA's "Community Manager" should rub a few brain cells together and figure out that the "community" wants damned trophy support for VC.
i'm not reading you guys comments because im still only in chapter 7 in valkyria chronicles (there might be spoilers). but yeah, if only the sequel's on the ps3…
I wish to support this.
I was skeptical when I first heard about this. But then I actually got to see the game in action, and I was amazed by how faithful it is to the original without sacrificing much (if anything) in the way of quality.
I guess I'll have to buy this….
Whatever it takes to get my Valkyria Chronicle back on the black box.
what if the third one goes multiplatform? *gasp*
is it just me or are developers getting dumber by the year?
they start a series on consoles than move it to a different system and bi*** that it did not sell as well.
WTF do you expect.
seriously, you think people are going to buy a PSP just for this?
400AUD for 1 friggin game?
you have to be insane.
just like how i really really really want to play assassins creed bloodlines but not $400 want to.
200 yea, 300 may be but 400?
go jump!
wow i just realized the psp is 100 bucks cheaper than the ps3.
wow now if thats not a rip off i dont know what is.
Even though I don't have a PSP anymore, I'm buying the PSP version damnit!
I'm just glad we're getting more VC.
Cant' see this title not being sucessful, but I dont' have a PSP and have no intention at this point unless I get one for christmas just can't afford it.
I can't recommend Valkyria Chronicles enough to people.
If you like a good JRPG then you should buy it, the characters and mood of the story will capture you. If you like tactical games, you should buy it because each battle is a combination of strategy and tactics. No single approach works every time, you have to think – and I think you should buy a copy. If you just like SRPGs then buy Valkyria Chronicles because this is one of the better examples of an SRPG around – on any platform – so go buy a copy.
If you have already purchased the game, congratulations, now go buy the DLC on PSN.
This PSP version of Valkyria Chronicles will be a definite buy as well. One of the best things about the game – in my opinion – is that it's a game that could be done on the PSP without sacrificing anything. To be honest, I would think that it could be done on the PS2 as well, and there's 140 million of those kicking around out there…However, I'll gladly acept a PSP version and a true PS3 sequel.
Buy this game, and buy the original. Go on, do it. Do it now.
Not a huge fan of this type of RPG.
Still I'm only interested in a announcement of Sacred 2: Ice & Blood for consoles
I'm still playing the first one but would love to see the sequel on the ps3 rather then the psp…I got a few games on the psp and they're good fun but like some other posts have already said, I don't travel much and when I'm at home I'm on the ps3…doesn't make sense that they're depending on sales on the psp to decide whether or not to go back to ps3. Not everyone with a psp has a ps3 and vice versa…I think someone is making excuses over at sega and probably now scratching their heads wondering why they've made this f–k up!
Considering how well the PS3 is selling in Japan right now, I wouldn't expect there to be too much time before VC3 for PS3 is announced.
The reason I didn't buy VC is because it was released at the wrong time. This is a must buy on the psp. Valkyrie Chronicle is really good, will keep me busy until Uncharted 2 shows up.
if they want "a whole different audience", they could also transfer VC1 to PSP platform and release VC2 on PS3… this way, they will still get new audience while keeping the current fans happy.
Now, at least give us trophy support…
