Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Multiplayer Information

October is absolutely loaded with potentially excellent titles, and while the RPG fanatics will get Demon's Souls on the 6th, the military shooter fans will get what should be a highly polished and technically accomplished production in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising .

More details have arisen today concerning the all-important multiplayer modes for this one, and they're certain to pique your interest. According to The Lost Gamer , the entire campaign can be played cooperatively; you can enlist "up to three other online Marines and take on the opposition." You can even switch up teams for each mission as you progress so you don't have to be stuck with the same players; you know, just in case one of 'em isn't working out. Competitive multiplayer features four-on-four Player vs. Player battles, plus two more modes – Annihilation and Infiltration – to add even more diversity to the online aspect. Annihilation will give each team "the ultimate arsenal of weaponry" and from there, it's a massive battle to the finish; the last man standing's team wins. Infiltration is exactly what it sounds like: one team holds a certain position while the other attempts to work its way inside and claim it for themselves. This mode will definitely require more in the way of strategy and tactics, and yes, perhaps a wee bit of stealth, too.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is one of the most anticipated shooters of the year, but bear in mind that it's not exactly Modern Warfare . This is closer to a military simulator, so don't go charging into battle at all times, m'kay?

If only my gaming pallet wasn't so full of other games releasing around the same time. If it wasn't I would totally get this

4v4 competitive mode sounds little sparse. Especially when compared to the original OFP, ARMA and ARMA2. I wonder if competitive will have bots as well?

Graphics look good though.

This game replaced Demon Souls on my list. I figure Dragon Age will provide my RPG fix, Flashpoint 2 will give take care of my FPS needs, and Uncharted 2 will take care of everything else.

2009 is all set.

After Activision and Bobby Kotick's comments, I am choosing this game over MW2.

Bring on 4-player Coop action! *woot*

I was going to say that four on four was a bit small but I just remembered I like small matches more so than say sixteen on sixteen, but thirtytwo player matches was big fun on KZ2, mostly hectic and fustrating, but fun. Damn rocket whores almost ruined it for me espeacialy since they took away the spawn protection, so I need a new shooter to play as I am still undecided if I'm willing to give Mr. money sponge named Bobby Kotex any more of my business.

Keeping an eye on this, the series is a good few notches up the scale than the COD series, and deserves a welcome return.

Just glad I will not have to worry about the specs to run it, the game was a pig on PC for requirements needed for a smooth experience.

Thumb down? show yourself and tell me why, cannot handle the truth? or you a COD fanboy with blinkers on?

Even 5 years after the game came out it ran badly on a new well spec'd P.C, that kinda goes against moore's law.

Cheers guys, can only think that these people have never played it. I remember how taken back I was when playing the original game for the first time, the level of depth it had, this is no arcade run and gun, it is far closer to the real deal and should supply some intense battles.

Also not a day one purchase for me, I shall be waiting for the reviews to roll in, and fingers crossed that their will be a demo.
