Skate 3 Announced, Set For May 2010

For years, skateboarding fans could really only turn to Activision's Tony Hawk franchise, but EA changed all that in this generation with their top-notch skating series, Skate .

And thanks to high critical acclaim and solid popularity, yet another installment is headed our way in the spring. Today, EA has announced Skate 3 , where players "can now team up to build the ultimate skate crew in the definitive skateboarding co-op experience." It'll feature offline and online multiplayer, team-based challenges, and the all-new skater's paradise, Port Carverton. Skate 2 was bigger and better than the original and quite simply, you can expect another step in the right direction with Skate 3 . Said Senior Producer Jason DeLong:

"The social and community aspects of the SKATE franchise are something we’ve always embraced, but we’ve never done anything to the scale you’re going to see in SKATE 3. We’re giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends. From there, it’s all about proving yourself– teaming up, and throwing down."

The pre-order incentive is an unlock code that gives you access to the "iconic Black Box Distribution Skate Park, home turf of Zero, Mystery, and Fallen skate teams." The new entry will also boast a "beefed up Hall of Meat mode" plus the entirely new Skate School, so skating fans everywhere should be primed and ready by the time the game releases. It's scheduled to land on store shelves in May.

I'm contemplating getting Skate 2 before 3, cause Skate 1 was great! But where in the heck is SSX?

The hell part 3? Man it's not even two years yet (are they trying to milk this?). And We would love a next gen SSX also.

Skate 1 = Sep. 2007
Skate 2 = Jan. 2009 (1 year 4 month difference)
Skate 3 = May. 2010 (1 year 3 month difference)
They only just announced it, that doesn't mean it's already coming out, and as long as they put enough new features to make it worth getting people WILL buy it (like me).

@www: At this point unless you're buying it cheap you might as well wait for 3, unless you want to have them as a collection.

Well the last skate boarding game I bought was Proskater 3 so I'm looking for a current gen skating game.Does skate have official skaters or do you play with the skaters that the developers made up?

Any Skateboard sim isn't fun if features frustrating gameplay, a crappy setting or its made by Blackbox the worst developers in the world.
Yeah its pretty much doomed if it fails to add any original features & a well made city landscape

Me and my bud skate and love this game. Whenever he would come over, he'd end up waking up before me, coming into my room and playing skate while I was asleep so I would wake up to "Clickiddy click, click, YEAAAH MAAN SICCKK, dude check out this replay!"

played SKATE2 and had fun with it, I dont know what else could be diffrent in 3 besides a story, and some lil tweaks… might rent it first, but it is a fun skate game.
