It's always interesting to see how gamers respond to the available titles on the PlayStation Network, and it will probably come as no surprise to learn that games like Fat Princess and Shatter were in the top 10 for August.

But according to Joystiq , the PSN winner for last month was Marvel vs. Capcom 2 , the highly anticipated and well received old-school fighter that was downloaded more than any other game on the Network. If you're wondering what the top 10 list looks like, here it is:

So, which of these great games do you have downlaoded? There are a couple big-time PS1 classics in there (no huge shock), and the solid Battlefield 1943 and Square-Enix's effort, Crystal Defenders , have also performed well. As more and more top-notch titles hit the PSN, these top 10 lists will become more and more impressive. So keep rewarding great stuff, people.  You usually do, anyway, right?

I've got Battlefield and Wolfenstein. I was going to get FFVII, but I've already got it on disc so I didn't see the need. If I buy a PSP soon though, that need may change..
;D

lol, it's the old classic wolf 3d. It's fun to throw on and play for the old nostalgia effect. I haven't tried the new one yet.

Still love when you kill the blue nazis and they cry out, "Mein Gleiven!" or something like that.

I can't believe Mortal Kombat II is still in the top 10. That's crazy! Wasn't that one of the PSN launch titles? I want to pick up Fat Princess and Shatter but I refuse to do so until I get a demo. I've been burned all too often with buying games before playing. BF 1943 is freakin' amazing, by the way. Good ol' memories coming back. I love it!

Shatter is too much fun to pass up. Especially at the price tag of 7.99. Best brick breaking game ever.
Fat princess is loads of fun but AI can't recommend it to everybody at $14.99 although lately is still my favorite game to pick up and play a couple rounds and get back to whatever major release I am playing. Which at the time is Arkham Asylum and Ghostbusters.

I haven't downloaded any of them. I'll admit that haven't explored the store much though other than when my brothers text me a new demo to check out.

I wanted to download the R/C truck looking game, looks like a throwback to RC Pro AM but there isn't a demo. Has anyone downloaded that yet?

If you're talking about "Smash Cars" then yes, I own that one. It's a lot of fun. Controls are a little loose at times but it's a fun experience.

Tekken with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 next, a few months ago i was in need of some quick cash and traded in my PS2 physical disc copy of MvC2 for about $50 i was willing to do it because the PS3 download was going to be released and i figured i would be better suited to sell my physical copy while the trade in price for it was still high at GameStop, i had a feeling that when it was released on the network GameStop would drop the trade-in value to a worthless price, it's something i learned while working for them for so many years. alot of GameStop co-workers/friends thought otherwise, some said trade it in while others said don't, it was 50/50 between all of them.

I have 2, 4 and 7.

Mortal Kombat II is still the pinnacle of SNES fighting games for me. Amazing how they packed the entire arcade experience in that cartridge. Absolutely no flaws whatsoever. I guess people still love the game, it probably remains the crown jewel of the entire series.

I got this game and still loving it. Only problems i have with it was the button configuration. The dev did not keep the original settings so some buttons were not used and thus my skills droped. Also the button that was missing was the PPP and KKK from the original. Those buttons made me play better now i suck.
Anyone had the same prob?

I bought Fat Princess, FFVII, Shatter and Worms.
FP is great , the online issues are totally fixed.
Shatter is a beautifully produced game, very fun and has an awesome soundtrack that I like to crank when my neighbors are gone.
And Worms, well if you've never played Worms then, I'm sorry but you're a fool. There's nothing quite like blowing a li'l pink worm into smithereens with a bazooka headshot!

Marvel VS Capcom 2 is WAY overrated

Note: I've had that game for the Dreamcast since 2001

All I have out of the games in this list is Battlefield 1943. And that's a damn good game. I could spend hours in that were it not for Arkham Asylum.

Sacrecrow you WAY off!!! let's do the math shall we?

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is released

"issues" occur with Marvel and and Capcom causing Capcom to loose they're license with Marvel

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox ports of this game saw a limited print run due to Capcom losing the Marvel license

high demand has caused their prices to skyrocket both in stores and online

so scarecrow it's not like the game was announced to be released and then was "heavily marketed" hell i barely remember a commercial for the first installment of the series.

it's a game that was released, then missed and now knowing the amount popularity the game had with fans through word of mouth, it is now more highlighted throughout the gaming industry than it was back in 2000.

Scarecrow Overated? more like underestimated
for you saying that i feel your absent-minded.
and incase you don't know what that means:
Absent-Minded – intense attention to a single object of focus that makes them oblivious to events around them; or unwarranted distraction of attention from the object of focus by irrelevant thoughts or environmental events.

i give you a thumbs down lol.

How so? I am glad to say I bought 1, 2, and 3. MVC2 is a blast on singer player, except for the final boss. The most annoying creature on the face of the planet. Playing against friends and having who is a "noob" character arguments never gets old. Fat Princess is always fun, I can't get enough of the soccer! When I purchase a new hard drive I'll be purchasing Oddworld, along with MGS and FF7.

This is an interesting article but you what would make a more interesting article the fact that FF7 has consistently been in the top 10 since the first week it came out. I think that is something Squarenix should be looking at. And if they are just maybe they will put more consideration in making a FF7 remake or sequel. One can only hope.

Out of those listed I brought MK II just to bring back memories I had playing it over on the SNES like 12 years ago. Right now I'm waiting for that TMNT:Turtles in Time remake to hit the PSN after M$ timed exclusive deal runs out. I still can't believe that Microsoft would make that game an timed exclusive, I could understand MVC 2 but Turtles in time.

Out of those I've got BF1943, Fat Princess and Shatter. Only the two latter were downloaded during August though.
