Sega should've known they needed a more complicated code, 'cuz gamers are good at solving those little puzzles and riddles designed to hide new announcements.
Well, it's not a new announcement, but the fill-in-the-blank puzzle Sega posted at the Valkyria Chronicles Twitter page has been solved. Heck, it was solved hours after it was posted, but it's not really helping anyone because the answer could mean anything: "what goes around comes around." All Sega would say is we should continue to "ponder the phrase" but if they don't make something clear soon, the fans are gonna start getting antsy. Now, PlayStation 3 owners are all hoping the news involves a new VC title for the PS3; the sequel was revealed some time ago, but it's coming exclusively to the PSP. Sega said they did this to expand the audience but in our minds, selecting only the PSP doesn't "expand" the audience; it shifts the audience. If you want to "expand" it, you have to include the system the game first appeared on, yes? We really don't know what "what goes around comes around means" but we know what the fans want, and we know it includes some fresh strategy love for the PS3.
The original Valkyria Chronicles remains one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved PS3 exclusives to date…Sega can't possibly ignore that fact, can they?
Related Game(s): Valkyria Chronicles
Hmm…What Goes Around Comes Around…this could signal the sequel also coming on the PSP, or (less likely, but time will tell I assume) the 3rd installment coming on the PS3! Or PSP too, but nonetheless, the PS3 🙂
Whoops, I meant:
"also coming on the PS3"
I think that they are going to shed more light on what it means tomorrow.
This better not be some reference to the rings of "Saturn" or something else irrelevant. It'll be a shot in the foot if they aren't on the ball.
Could it be that Sega is re-thinking the PS3 sequel because of the new PS3 slim model and price?
Or are they possibly sending a message to some other publishers about lack-luster support for the PS3/PSP?
That said, I'd think it has something to do with the game. Could we see the return of a character from VC? Someone out for revenge?
The Tank dude, maybe? (not gonna say his name, to avoid spoiling for some ppl but his initials are R.J.)
Really good assumption, seems really logical.
It has to do with the demise of SEGA game consoles. Deep down they hate Sony.
Hahahah, quite fearfully a possibility.
Sega is going to announce VC3 for its re-entry into the console race with the Dreamcast 2.
😉
Seriously, though, VC2 on the PSP WOULD expand the audience in Japan where multiple surveys show more people play the PSP and DS than they do home consoles. It has something to do with all those people who ride the trains in Japan.
Hell, look at the top seller lists in Japan every month: DS and PSP games account for the majority of those lists.
I always thought of the xbox as the Dreamcast 2.
I would buy a Dreamcast 2 for a thousand dollars.
I cant believe Sega made a PS3 exclusive game. I mean, come on, the PS2 completely slaughtered the Dreamcast. You'd think that Sega would just ignore Sony and go to Microsoft.
Like Nynja said, maybe they're making a megadrive 2 and VC3 will be exclusive for it.Or maybe its a stupid, pointless riddle.
Except Nynja didn't say that.
Didn't this game not do very well on the ps3? So they are changing there tactics and making it on the psp. I think it's smart, there is a bigger audience in the psp market. The only downside i can see is that there is so many great psp games coming out at the moment.
it didnt do well on ps3 because they didnt do anything to make it visible. No advertising, just word of mouth. Right now most ps3 owners know that its an amazing game. but most are too stubborn to get it. why? because they are waiting for trophy support. I mean since when has trophies stop people from getting a great game. An amazing game is an amazing game with or without trophies that really doesnt do anything, just buy it already.
Exactly, Jonny. Infact, trophy support irritates me. It's like having a frigging pop-up during a serious session of playing through a decent story.
So sad, this game should be on ps3
I would like to see this game on the PS3, my husband and I love the first.
Maybe they'll turn the PSP game into a spin-off and make a real VC2 on the PS3.
And also add trophy support to the first game.
What goes around comes around though… we scratch their backs and they'll scratch ours… we, the fans, turned VC into a hit…. hmm…
trophy support doesnt make Valkyria Chronicles a better game, its completely unnecessary. But i guess its would be worth it if it will finally push trophy whores who are on the fence on buying this game.
oh I know… I was a trophy whore until I played VC all the way through… twice. It'd just be a nice treat.
'What goes around' = PSPgo
'…comes around' = VC2 release date.
nothing to see here folks. move along.
I'll second that. I think it's a reference to VC2 for the PSP and PSP Go.
You are all wrong, "What goes around Comes around" refers to Skies of Arcadia 2. Makes sense no?
Believe.

Bingo!
I'd go berserk (in a good way) if it is Skies of Arcadia
I think it's not gonna be a PS3 sequel. They pretty much have the PSP version mostly completed. This isn't porting down to a lesser system, it's the other way around.
I say what they mean is, that it'll have some sorta connectivity with the original PS3 Valkyria Chronicles. Judging by the gameplay, it's almost the same. There weren't much improvements needed for the near perfect game. I'm not surprised that some update to the PS3 VC1 can connect to the PSP VC2.
They already have a PS3 engine and art assets, so it's doable.

What goes around, comes around. Exactly: because no one bothered purchasing this underrated game for the PS3, the sequel is going to a platform where it's predicted to be appreciated more.
Joooke. Let's hope they make this game downloadable on PSN.
Was it directed at the ps3 audiene?
If it was, maybe something playstation users didnt get long ago or lately, they could get soon.
Meh, who knows.
