If it happens once, it can certainly happen again; perhaps it's only a matter of time.
Now that Sony has lifted the lid on that awesome God of War Collection , which features the first two gems in that stellar series reproduced in beautiful high definition (plus Trophy support), the next question from most gamers was predictable: what other PS2 titles might get a remake for the PS3? Kotaku asked this question of several publishers, and it seems there is some interest in taking the SCEA remake approach in regards to certain established franchises. A Konami representative said:
"We are constantly exploring unique ways to expose players to some of our legacy titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. Re-releasing games on Blu-ray presents an exciting opportunity for a publisher, however we have no announcements at this time."
Ooh, yeah, how about the first two or three Metal Gear Solid games in Blu-Ray form? Wouldn't that be sweet? Survival/horror fans would be pulling for Silent Hill , which could be downright terrifying in spine-tingling HD. And hey, Capcom is actually asking the gamers what they might want to see; check out what Christian Svensson said in the company's Unity forums:
"I don't want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I'm not saying anything like this could happen) but I'm seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment. Are there other titles you'd like see go this way? I'm looking for some temperature readings."
Hellz yes to DMC but we wouldn't mind seeing some love tossed Onimusha 's way. And as we're big fans of Final Fantasy , we're hoping Square-Enix takes notice and decides to do something crazy great, like give Final Fantasy X a chance to be seen again in a whole new way. Or…yep, here comes the FFVII remake rumor again. As if we needed to resurrect it…
