The first blow to this project came when Konami pulled out as publisher back in April, and now, it seems the unfortunate team at Atomic Games is only a step away from canceling Six Days in Fallujah .

According to Joystiq , Atomic has been forced to reduce their staff due to a lack of "full-scale funding" for the controversial war title. We're not sure how many of the 75 members were laid off, but it's certainly not a good sign. However, they insist that the real-life veterans who have spent "hundreds of hours on this project" will continue to "fight on," so they seem determined to get this game on store shelves. But they need to find a publisher that is willing to take the risk; any company that wishes to produce this game knows they'll be placing themselves in the line of fire. Many believe the game shouldn't exist at all; that it hits too close to home and it wouldn't succeed in honoring the lives lost in Fallujah. Others just find it to be in bad taste the whole way 'round, and although we won't have any comment on the issue, we'd still like to see a portion of this game in action. The question is, what are we really missing out on? If it's a top-quality project, publishers will be much more willing to take a chance on it, but if not…

Anyway, we'll let you know if Atomic ever secures another publisher for Six Days in Fallujah . If they do, you can bet you'll be hearing more about it immediately afterward.

It's only ok to kill Nazis and zombies in movies and games these days. Pretty soon political correctness may not let us even do that.

settle down theres only controversy because peoples relatives who died there.
how would you feel if your father or whatever died in some war, than people made a video game about it.
its almost like there making light of the situation almost disrespectful.
i can see why people are apposed to this, and i think it was the right thing to do for konami to jump out of the ring.
because they were about to have 10 kilos of flaming rubbish catapulted at them.

The soldiers who fight there are the ones making this. They want their side of the story told which is most likely the truth. So you settle down. No one seems upset here except you. There's always one of you when ever there's an articel about this game. Eeessh. I trust our Marines more then our Stare Run Lapdog Obamedia.

You may be on to something there. If they changed the name maybe it could get the funding without the controversy.

If I had a company I would fund it, the controversy alone would make it fly off shelves. Something tells me one video game isn't going to destroy the morale of the US Military.

Nope. In fact it might help vindicate their mission and clear up some of the slander our media has heaped on our Marines. Ever since the war started all we've heard was how Bush is the devil and our soldiers are his army of demons. Maybe a fund rasier is in order? Haha

I don't get the controversy unless your character is an enemy soldier.

Its steeped in mystery and what really happened, the developers said they worked very closely with some of the soldiers in the battle, to get their side of the story, so maybe some mystery fog will be lifted.

Hundreds of hours? That's all? So at 40 hours a week that would be what, 5 weeks?

i can understand why people are apposed to this.
but whats the difference between this and COD or MOH?
i cant remember people making such a ruckus when call of duty made games about WW2 same with medal of honor.
but with that said i think they should just can the game as a sign of respect for the people who lost loved ones there.
on a lighter note i just played the BAA demo and god dam its fooking awesome.
september 4th cant come soon enough.

Like I said. It's politically incorrect to make a war movie or game unless it's about Nazis.

Relax people.
The reason why people are opposed to this game is that it's……….
A video game.

Exactly, if they want to get funding for this one they need to make it into a movie first. Let everyone see the horrors that went on over there in an 'artistic' manner and with a few big name actors…the movie becomes popular because it's A: controversial, and B:based on a true story. As soon as the movie launches, you'll get funding for a game that is based off the movie..

Sad that that's the way it would work but the general public still doesn't see video games as a form of media to tell a story. They only see it as a way for a bunch of immature guys to shoot the crap out of each other. Until that stereotype changes, games like this will have a hard time getting funding. If they had of made this game based on a fictional story, there wouldn't be a problem, but you know that if this was going to be a movie, it would be a summer blockbuster already.

If anyone steps forward to publish this game, I will have respect for them for willingly being the subject of controversy and for standing up for free speech.
