Fat Princess finally released last week on the PlayStation Store after a long period of anticipation and hype. But while the game itself is great, the online multiplayer issues have been prevalent since the game's launch.
Thankfully, Titan Studios has revealed that they're "hard at work on a patch" that will address those issues, which have included nasty lag and a complete inability to connect. Titan knows all about the problems and they're "working with Sony" to get us a "fix-it" patch ASAP. Sony has said they can't give us a concrete release date for this patch, but we have to assume it'll be soon; this is one game that really needs the online multiplayer aspect to function properly. As a cross between an all-out action title and a real-time strategy game, where multiple units are involved at all times, we have to assume that Fat Princess should rightly shine online. Unfortunately, we haven't had many opportunities to see that "shine," although we've certainly glimpsed the goodness. You can expect our review later today or early tomorrow and it will take these issues into account; i.e., we have to deduct points for the problem, but we also aren't about to discount the fact that it should be working just fine at some point in the near future. Remember SOCOM: Confronation …? Yeah, we judge games based on their merits, which can't change; online issues can be completely erased.
It's just too bad the game had to release under the cloud of negativity, because a lot of the title's good points are going unnoticed. Stay tuned for more news on the update.

not wanting to point any fingers but what was the point of the beta if these glaring issues weren't addressed before release? i love this game but am dying to play online without lag!
they said these issues never appeared until the game went large-scale, which is understandable. a somewhat adequate amount of people beta'ing it isn't the same as thousands of people trying all at once.
The game is great and addictive. But yes, it sometimes gets frustrating to play online since it'll take about a minute or so to connect and even then you may find yourself not being able to join a game, but when you do log in to a game, it is FUN.
That means suckage for me. I can barely connect to a match on Tekken 5: DR Online -_-
I don't understand the hype surrounding this game.
It's a beautifully cutesy game with blood and gore flying all over the place, yet it's extremely fun…not sure what you don't see about the game?

I'm with you 100% Jawknee. I wonder if anyone's going to be playing this game come December.
I believe people will still be playing this game come December. People still play Castle Crashers.
this game will most likely still be played by next year, its a lot of fun. If you choose to pass it up because you cant see what makes it fun and addictive, ur loss

The game is great. It's a pretty simple concept of capture the flag, but the classes, castle upgrades, and terrain make for an amazingly deep game.

I've found Fat Princess disappointingly buggy with regards to more than just networking issues. For instance, in one game I was playing in one of the princesses just disappeared from the game entirely. This was while she was in transit so the game because unwinnable for either team. We just had to wait for the time to run out.
It's a shame because when everything is actually working right it's a really fun game.
That has happened to me one time too. It was when the blue princess was being captured and when the guy carrying her died in the water the princess just disappeared. It was a little annoying but Titan will probably fix that too.
What I've seen is that if the carrier dies w/the princess on hand, she'll 'respawn' at the place/spot of death but on safer ground. This happened a couple times in a match where our team had to carry her through the Lava Stage (fun/hectic).
Yeah, I've seen it happen in deep water or in lava where she just goes somewhere safer but relatively close. Nobody knew where she was exactly though so it was an easy capture for me 😀
God I hope they fix this game. Its really good. I never had any serious lag problems. But I have had some serious network issues. Good luck getting into a game.
Same. I've experienced no lag, but it either takes me like 5-10 tries to connect, and when I do connect, I get disconnected like 30 minutes into the game! Really aggravating because the game is fun.
the lag is there, hopefully they can fix it fast. Its annoying when the lag kicks in because it makes it hard to know when you should retreat from a fight, and sometimes because of lag characters can zoom across your screen.
I haven't really had the lag issue but I have had problems getting into games. So hopefully when they get this fixed everything will run smoothly. This game is great and would be so much better without these issues.
I am more of an offline player. Does this game offer any offline co-op?

Amazingly deep? The upgrade tree is very simple (exactly one upgrade per class) The whole game is very simple CTF…

Delay the game, now all these problems. Thanks for nothing. Good thing I bought it on launch day. I want my money back. Im not playing FP or Modern Warfare until these many, many unacceptable issues are corrected. I hate.

Money back for a digital download? Sorry. GameStop IS "hard at work" trying to "address those issues" but so far we haven't heard anything. In the mean time just chalk up another epic fail for digital downloads.
Personally I haven't seen any lag issues, but that's because so far I've played against my wife in a multi-player onliune game and we're on the same subnet on the same routers with teh same ISP…
I hope they can patch this quickly, perhaps it's time for Devs to allow their games to probe for network lag and present opponents sorted in order from shortest to longest network lag…At least that way they won't present players on opposite sides of the world with utterly horrendous lag to each other for multi-player action.
Fun game. I have also had major issues connecting to the game but started creating games (I think it's called Control Freak on the menu) and I've been able to connect every time, very quickly, and to a game full of awaiting people.
Yeah, this game is "tons" of fun, hahahaha. Sorry bad joke, but seriously I can't wait to finally connect online. It is awesome though. I just wish some my mic would work and some people could understand how to work together.
