Ben-DutkaEveryone is awaiting Eat Sleep Play's announcement of their mystery title; it has certainly been a hot topic of conversation amongst gamers in 2009.
Many people want to believe it's a new Twisted Metal but that has never been officially announced, and anything you may have heard is nothing more than rumor. Now, as spotted by Examiner.com , Dave Jaffe posted up a reply to a question at his Twitter page , and it reads:
"News on the new game- I HOPE- will be around Dec/Jan/Feb time frame."
We've asked Jaffe about the game in the past, and he told us that it really wasn't up to him; if he had his way, he'd love to break this and let the gamers really hype it up. But apparently, his hands are tied as it's in Sony's hands at this point. We could probably tell you more but we'd rather not; we simply play by the rules and do as we're told. 😉 No matter what, we'd love to hear about Eat Sleep Play's game this year, as that info could make for a very merry Christmas. Regardless of what that project turns out to be, we have a feeling it'll be a highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive title.
And that's always good news.

I never played Twisted Metal. Is it a violent version of Mario Kart? I just thought that why arent people expecting new IP from these guys?
Twisted Metal is KIND OF like that only the levels are free-roaming, not on a race track. And each car has its own stats and special attacks (since Black anyway) that give it an advantage/disadvantage depending on who you're fighting or the stage you're in. Very violent and fiery 🙂
Twisted Metal is a series with some awesome games, and a few stinkers. It depends who is making it. It's car combat, but not a race like mario kart. You drive around and try to blow up the other cars.

Well, in one sense it's better Sony doesn't announce things that are waaaaaayyyy off.
Why does he 'hope'? I wonder what has to be completed before he's able to make any announcements on his new game.

in hes last video blog he said the most likley time of announcement was next years E3.
to me he is the reason why the playstation brand is so big, he created god of freaking war the best game to ever grace a console.
so to me its too big of a announcement, to just release over the net in december.
i think sony will wait till a trade show and make a big deal of it, like they normally do.
but i hope its a new IP, while i do love twisted metal i would love to see him create something different.
but going by that email that was decoded its got something to do with driving cars and being able to get out of the cars and explore the environment.
a sandbox GTA style game maybe?

I just hope it's not another Ho-humm 'cops and robbrs' cartoon game PSN title. That was very disappointing from Jaffe.
Calling All Cars was just meant to be a bit of fun with some hidden depth and it would've worked much better had it released later in PS3's lifecycle, imo, with more players available it would've been pretty cool.
But, whatever, it wasn't ever meant to be a world changing game in the first place but more a change of pace for Jaffe and Co.
Anyway, he will announce TMPS3 n due course(and it IS TM the signs are way too clear, imo)and I pray he puts in all the things he said he would as if it doesn't change it will only sell in the US again. I couldn't even find a copy in the UK way back when! I doubt many people in my country were even aware that any TM games existed.
