As time rolls on, it becomes a more prominent fixture on the horizon. We all love our third-person shooters, and we believe Tecmo is fully capable of delivering the next great one in the form of Quantum .
Now, in a recent Siliconera interview with game director Makoto Shibata, we scrounge up a few more details that should intrigue action fans. The first question involved the team's decision to make this project a PlayStation 3 exclusive, and Shibata simply replied that they wanted the machine with the "highest specs." End of story. Shibata goes on to address the comparisons to Gears of War and actually mentions Resident Evil 4 as a direct influence; essentially, he's talking about TPS games that make fresh strides in the genre. And speaking of innovation, Quantum will boast more of an action feel than either Gears or RE4: as Shibata said, the main character will be able to climb "and fight while hanging," and as the tower (the battlefield) shifts with time, we get the feeling that platforming will play more of a role. Remember, Tecmo makes the Ninja Gaiden series, so it wouldn't be surprising to see some platforming action ideas rub off on Quantum . Then they go on to discuss the decided lack of in-your-face gore, the character design, and why there isn't any offline multiplayer.
Oh, and one last thing: apparently, there are two characters. One is Syd, the massive gun-toting dude, and the other is an agile female warrior that Syd can…um…throw. Do we smell cooperative stuff? Guess we'll have to learn more about that at a later date.
Related Game(s): Quantum
I hope this "tower" doesn't bite them in the butts. It's hard to relate/care about a tower where pretty much anything goes and we're just supposed to go along with it because "this tower is not normal."
It's taking risks to innovate that later become the blueprint of all future games. I think it's a great idea. The gameplay footage shows the towers twisting and turning as the main characters shoot/slash and platform at the same time. It's purely intense.
I just hope the colors are not too plain like KZ2. You see more details, but it's more pleasing to the eyes with more contrast in colors.
QT sounds promising, I'm looking forward to this one wherever it comes out. If this is like Gew and RE4 I'm sold.
Im really looking forward to QT.. I loved the E3 trailer.. Now their talking about platforming love it!
Ur pic is GRRRRRRRRREAT
Quantum looks like it's going to be really good. I hope the gameplay matches, or even succeeds that of Gears of War and RE4/RE5. The inclusion of platforming suggests more variety than either of those titles offered, and also more versatile controls.
I love the Gears games and really want an equivalent on the PS3.
As a side thought, has anyone heard anything about Gears of War 3 coming to PS3? I know Epic's contract was only for 2 exclusive titles, but has Microsoft renewed this?
sorry ROUGE buti dont think microsoft will ever let its biggest exclusive ever to go to sony
but if we can see ff on a 369.lol then it may happen
Eyes fixed on THIS BABY! Another reason not to purchase a 360. Woot!
did the name get changed to just Quantum?
Yep it did.
SO IS IT UNCHARTED ON STEROIDS?????
Is Quantum Pre-orderable yet? Or do i have to wait for it till 2011? lol
Warhawk killer? there's something about Warhawk that just keeps me playing.
Quantum looks good though I can't wait
When I saw the E3 trailer this went onto my "to buy list". I will be keeping an eye on this one.
"Quantum" just sounds more solid, I'm glad they changed it. It's got a nice ring to it. Can't wait to throw that woman around 😉
NO online = win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Story driven game!
Should be hella fun
Really like this talk of co-op 🙂

Bastards!
Crap guess I'll stick to LBP
This game looks really cool. Hopefully the tower varies enough that the scenery won't get boring. I have been watching this game since I first heard about it and it only keeps sounding better. Too bad about the offline co-op but the multiplayer might be really fun.

"Resident Evil 4 is what started the TPS (third person shooter) genre." Oh really? So SOCOM didn't exist before RE4? Or did RE4 start the TPS genre in Japan? I'm sorry but that's just an incredibly stupid thing to say.
I am looking forward to this game though. The article says there is no offline multiplayer because the developers are making the single player campaign the "offline mode." Also, co-op just wouldn't be practical becuase of the campaign is set up; the second character isn't around for the entire course of the game.
I could be wrong but wouldn't Syphon Filter be in front of RE4 and Socom?that or Tomb Raider I just know RE4 isn't the first TPS.
This games looks real cool but they did admit that they are designing it for the West (but the artwork looks good Eastern ^_^).
So there might be some 'random' stuff. lol
This needs to reflect the "gears of war" affect when the game comes out. At the time, gears of war was a new ip and sold very well. Quatum should do the same. That is if sony are willing to advertise more often than they are now.
This game has me pretty excited. It almost has a Warhammer 40k look to it. I'm also looking forward to Darksiders which has a trailer up on PSN now. This guy might just be Kratos' successor in Badassedness.

when are we going to see more offline MP games.
if not splitscreen competetive like killzone 1 had, atleast split screen co-op like resistance 1 had.
but seriously the ps3 can have up to 7 controllers connected at once.
but whats the point?
99.99% of games are only 1 player so why did sony waste there time making the ps3 compatiable with it.
im not asking for 7 player split screen obviously but atleast 2 player so you and a friend can co head to head.
or up against some bots, or atleast co-op.
At first, I was kinda disappointed at the obvious similarities between this game and Gears… I really didn't want it to be a total ripoff, but the more information I get about this game, the more it really sounds like something very unique and special in its own way.
I personally can't wait for more information on this game as it is looking to be a good, new experience. Â Â
