The hardcore fighting fans have already enjoyed a big gift in 2009 with the likes of Street Fighter IV , but you know that group…they're just insatiable. They always want more.
And so they shall have it on October 27, which is the new official launch date for Namco Bandai's Tekken 6 . Yes, as GameSpot reports, the long-awaited fighter will hit North America for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 10/27/09, with "editions for Europe, Japan, and the rest of Asia to follow in close proximity." Additional details include a special Wireless Fight Stick Bundle, which will cost you a pretty penny at $149.99 but will also feature an art book and a special Hori wireless fight stick. You can pre-order this now but if you'd rather try another pre-order incentive, go for the one that includes a 09/10 calendar and the downloadable Penny Arcade Samurai Pack (only available at GameStop). This unlocks the Cardboard Tube Samurai costume for fan-favorite Yoshimitsu, and opens up the limited edition Samurai Battle Banners that can be utilized by any of the game's 40 fighters. Oh, and let's not forget that Tekken 6 goes portable on the PSP this fall as well, although we don't have a date just yet. If this isn't enough info for you, go play SFIV some more and bide your time appropriately.
Now the only problem will be picking the Best Fighter for 2009 when the Game of the Year Awards roll around…you know, unless Tekken 6 falls flat, which we highly doubt it will.

I'm skeptical about these hand drawn KOF characters. I'm sure they look nice but probably don't push the hardware any more than a PS1 would have with hand drawn sprites.

I was very happy with 5 dark resurrection online. In my honest opinion though, nothing will ever, in the Tekken franchise, beat Tekken 3 or tekken tag. To be honest, I think 6 looks far too over complicated for a Tekken game… the fact that Microsoft is also getting it kind of concerns me as well. I think 6 is going to stray too far from the roots. Heres to hoping I am wrong!
should be the same on both consoles, its a great looking game but it doesnt look like its pushing any boundaries.

Of course it's not pushing the PS3.They had to downgrade when they decided to go cross platform.They were hyping Tekken 6 as the most advanced fighter and we know that they can not achieve that with it being on the 360.Thank you Brand x for ruining another possible great game.
They did a hori arcade fight bundle for Tekken 5 on ps2, well worth the $99 back then, since those sticks weren't exactly cheap to order online. Hopefully this stick is awesome, cuz i will be buying the bundle
So true about the Tekken 5 bundle. I was shocked to find those at Game Stop for $20, so when I did I bought the 3 they had left. I opened 2 of them for the sticks, and sold the game on ebay for $40. I like those sticks better than the DOA sticks for the xbox 360.
I played tekken 6 and was impressed. Then I played tekken 6: bloodline rebellion and was more impressed. I hate playing on the arcade games so I'm glad this one is finally coming out.
Tekken 6 will definitely be my best fighting game this gen after a repetitive SFIV. But the graphics engine still looks like that of SC4, its not a bad thing but i want to see something more extra O.

Man tekken 6 is going to rock so hard! I love those strategic fighting games, I have to say I was thoroughly unimpressed with SF4 but I'm thinking T6 will deliver on my high expectations.
If the difficulty spikes in this one like it did in the PS2 Tekken 5, then I'll be staying away. However, I LOVED Tekken Force Mode from Tekken 4, and it looks like Tekken 6 has a similar mode that can be played cooperatively. That by itself makes me want to own the game.

Other than the straight action of the fights, does the game feature any other modes? Is there a Story mode or campaign? What kinds of character modification are available?

There are a few extra modes. There is the Story mode like the good old times, then there is a Tekken Force type mode, but for 1 or 2 players. Customizations are very awesome. You can use some of them in battle, and the amount of items is incredible. You can change the hair shape and color, add new outfits for your character and more. Go find a video to watch and you'll see all of what Tekken 6 has to offer.
Already on preorder! I dont need the fighting stick, so I can save some money!
