Last year's LittleBigPlanet was a favorite amongst critics and swept the competition away at the AIAS awards a few months ago. Now, the capable team behind that masterpiece is hard at work on another PlayStation 3 title.
According to PS3Center , a recent job posting at Media Molecule has opened our eyes to their new project: a "groundbreaking, AAA PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment." They seek a programmer for the game and most people are automatically assuming it's a sequel to the aforementioned award-winner, but up until now, we had only heard about LBP for the PSP. We have also heard Media Molecule talk about the ongoing support Sackboy and Co. would receive through DLC on the PSN; theoretically, there is no limit to what they can do with that game. Therefore, some are postulating that we have no real need of a sequel as the original can continue to expand and grow. If the latter group of skeptics prove to be correct, what might Media Molecule be working on? They really started something with this whole "Create, Play, Share" philosophy; ModNation Racers is the second title – announced during Sony's E3 press conference – to embrace the idea, and we can only assume the LBP developers are going to say within that realm. In other words, we're not really expecting a big ol' FPS from MM. That would just seem…bizarre.
Anyway, we'll let you know when Media Molecule and/or Sony decide to lift the lid on this promising title, but we're certain all you LBP fans are drooling right about now. We could be talking about the next great PS3 exclusive…
Ya, I agree… there's no need at all for a sequel. i don't see one coming for a while.
i'm excited to see that this developer has decided to stick with the awesome console i have sitting on my media stand!
😉
<3 WOOT!
Whatever they're working on should be good.
Holy smokes, I really can't wait! I do hope they improve load times a bit. I wonder what it could be.
Heavenly Sword 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wasn't that Ninja Theory?
Yeah, but they left SCEE and are now under some other multiplat company. It's rumored to be under Ubisoft.
Heavenly Sword is licensed by SCEE so Ninja Theory can't really make the sequel since they confirmed they're going multiplat.
So that leaves MediaMolecule!
I really hope they're going for Heavenly Sword 2! The first one is amazing. Still one of the best games for ps3.
Short, yes, but every second of it is amazing!
Really hope MM is going for it
I would buy Heavenly Sword 2 in a heartbeat.
I really don't see MM making Heavenly Sword 2, just don't seem like that kind of developer group to me..
Ya, it's hard to imagine mm doing heavenly sword, thats just weird
I'd rather have Eat, Sleep, & Play and David Jaffe work on Heavenly Sword 2.
…and then David Jaffe could rename his company "Eat, Sleep, Play, Create, Share." 😀

Actually I kind of hope they branch out like Insomniac going from Ratchet and Clank to the likes of Resistance. LBP can continue to be upgraded for ages, no need for a sequel yet. Either way I'm sure it'll be gold.
My hope was that perhaps the costumes could be used in the sequel. People spend a lot of money on those… Somehow it doesn't seem right for it to all just sit there along with the original LBP while everyone plays the new one. It would probably motivate me not to buy any of the costumes for the new version.
@Kowhoho:
same goes for the levels. people sprend so much time on them!
And that wounldn't leave much space for a sequel, so i hope there will be non in the next ten years.
I still don't know what AAA means, someone throw me a bone please.
Basically just means it's of the highest quality.
hmm…shouldn't that be SSS then 😛 like mgs4, lol
Little Big Gurren Lagann!
A man can dream.
Hope is a Mature game LBP and Mod racer arent titles I want to play on my PS3 .
Then don't play them
Everything doesn't have to have a gun in it.
LBP is easily the best platformer game this gen and the games I played with my friend last night (until 5 am) it's just never ending.
relax don't get mad cuz I don't like the same games like you..I don't like those games but I know they are of great quality I just think we need more exclusive matures games on the PS3.

I'm not mad =) was just giving an example about how much fun it can be, and time consuming XD
It'd be interesting to see MM make a Sims competetor or something, like a realistic Play Create Share environment. though I'm not sure how that would go.
i would love to see what these guys could do with a FPS, how amazing would that be, create your own weapon, level, and your own vehicles.
then have people buy them for war.
hahaha
Sounds awesome, but there is no need for LBP2.
I would really like to see a full 3-D platform game maker.
I would "L4D2 riot" Media Molecule's ass if they made an LBP2 so soon.
"We have also heard Media Molecule talk about the ongoing support Sackboy and Co. would receive through DLC on the PSN; theoretically, there is no limit to what they can do with that game. …Yeah.
if LBP2 was announced they would definitely put more than 1 year of development into it
not at all like the L4D sequel
if they do a LBP2 they should make it 7 people on one console because not many games make use of that feature.
that would be cool but i guess they could do that via DLC
That is a good idea, definately need more than 4 people in a game at one time!
The thing is, which i don't think i have seen anyone mention yet, is the lag online when playing with a friend or something. I have a good internet connection, and all my other games are fine online, but this always messes up and is quite frustrating when playing with 1 or more friends.
Before i see an LBP2, or even before they try another game, i'd like to see the servers fixed so it can be a lot smoother. That would make the game ten times more worthwhile.
And yeahh i agree if it was a second lbp, make the levels and costumes loadable from the first. Not that i actually spend money on the costumes in the first place!

There's barely any lag in LBP
I play with a friend who lives in England and our gameplay is lag free.
There are SOME days where it'll happen, once every two weeks I'd say.
Most of the time it's stable
No LBP2 as the game is endless already, the new exclusive is something different altogether.
fantastic news!
MM are now new master's thanks to that 1 new masterpiece, lbp.
Can't wait for the new DLC as im a in depth creator on lbp! Working on something that probably has never been done before so, i hope we get something that may cater to that!
I guess we have all come by the fact that LBP doesn't need a sequal, but here are some things that need to be fixed/added: Ladders,Water,Smoother Online, Even more DLC…come on guys help me out here what else does lbp need to make it even better?
You basically got it, more people able to play online together, and definately free from lag which it has currently!
^The game doesn't have lag. No more than any other FPS
you can't say it doesn't have lag, just because in your experience it doesn't. I and others i know who have it have bad lag all the time, and they have good internet aswell. I dunno, even if it does differ, they need to sort it out for when it is bad with people.
btw i live in the UK, so maybe it seems you in the US are better off than us haha!
