Oh, the possibilities are just endless , aren't they?

According to Kotaku , Japanese game developers Koei and Tecmo have merged, and have now officially become Koei Tecmo Holdings as of April. Not "TecKo" or "KoTec," both of which we like better, but whatever. This may not be all that interesting on the surface, but thanks to the summer issue of Nikkei Corporate Information magazine, it seems that the new company is combining titles from each of their old studios, as "the aim is to bring in fans of both." Now, you may remember another example of cross-branding from Koei; Dynasty Warriors: Gundam , which didn't do a whole lot to rake in new fans. But just imagine what they could do here! How about Dynasty Warriors: Dead or Alive ? You know, put Hitomi and Tina in Samurai outfits on the beach. Or maybe just turn the Samurais into Ninjas with Ninja Gaiden Warriors ! Or, have the hard-ass Samurai dudes take to the beach volleyball court… Then there are other games and franchises as well, but this is what immediately leaps to mind. How's about you?

Anyway, we'll let you know as soon as Koei Tecmo reveals the crossover idea. It ought to be entertaining, at the very least.

I don't think combining any titles with Dynasty Warriors makes sense. Every Dynasty Warriors is pretty much the exact same game. Same stages, same characters. Maybe a couple minor differences but because it's based on Romance of the 3 Kingdoms, there really isn't a whole lot they can do there. They tell the same story in each game.

Sure this could be a downfall but I absolutely love each one of them… sad I know, that they can repackage the same game with minor differences and I'll still buy it and play the crap out of it.

That said, I don't see them adding new characters into DW because it's always followed pretty strict storylines. Except for when they mixed SW and DW… I actually liked that one too.

I haven't played gundam… I thought it was a great idea though, as I do love the anime.

I just see both devs as being completely different. I don't see how crossovers could work there.

Good luck to them though, I hope they do well.

I've always loved Dynasty Warriors =) Don't know why but i love the story and I enjoy playing through it, haha. Zhou Yu FTW =D except I didn't like how they gave him a staff in the newer ones =| Also I have to say Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is the best gundam game made yet =) which is a little sad actually….

I'm sorry but neither company's games have enough high status to make a game like this. Who really wants Dead or Alive Vs Dynasty Warriors ….. its just not important.

Honestly not a lot, but their primary focus is Japan, which is fine with me since I enjoy that tastes, but they also make dating sims in japan 😉 lol but I'm waiting to see what the Trinity: Zill O'll Zero RPG they're making is about =)

I liked the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam game but there is a need for some improvements. I say to scale the number of enemies back some to inprove on visuals.

i want Tecmo make another fatal frame on PS3, that's the only thing I care about Tecmo, regarding Koei, whatever they make, to me, it is insignificant, be it another Gundam, or Three Kindoms XXIII or DW XIII wutever.

OMG!

Well I'm kinda shocked. These two companies have nothing in common.

Well I just hope Tecmo makes a fighting game for Dynasty Warriors again.

Yes, Dynasty Warriors started out as a fighting game for those of you who don't know. It was REALLY good too.

So long as it results in a new DoA game, is anyone going to have a problem with this?
