Oh, the possibilities are just endless , aren't they?
According to Kotaku , Japanese game developers Koei and Tecmo have merged, and have now officially become Koei Tecmo Holdings as of April. Not "TecKo" or "KoTec," both of which we like better, but whatever. This may not be all that interesting on the surface, but thanks to the summer issue of Nikkei Corporate Information magazine, it seems that the new company is combining titles from each of their old studios, as "the aim is to bring in fans of both." Now, you may remember another example of cross-branding from Koei; Dynasty Warriors: Gundam , which didn't do a whole lot to rake in new fans. But just imagine what they could do here! How about Dynasty Warriors: Dead or Alive ? You know, put Hitomi and Tina in Samurai outfits on the beach. Or maybe just turn the Samurais into Ninjas with Ninja Gaiden Warriors ! Or, have the hard-ass Samurai dudes take to the beach volleyball court… Then there are other games and franchises as well, but this is what immediately leaps to mind. How's about you?
Anyway, we'll let you know as soon as Koei Tecmo reveals the crossover idea. It ought to be entertaining, at the very least.
