Konami made it plain that we'd get several Metal Gear -related announcements this week, so in case you missed any, we've got the current round-up right here.
First up is the most recent, and perhaps the least surprising (as we had already heard about it several weeks ago). The original PlayStation classic that started it all, Metal Gear Solid , is now available on the PlayStation Store. You can pick it up for the price of $9.99 and, like most of these old games, it's compatible with both the PS3 and PSP. Also, and as reported by Examiner.com , Konami has opened up the Rookie Campaign in Metal Gear Online . For a set period of time, new players who open an MGO account will get the added benefit of 5,000 extra reward points, which you can use towards the purchase of some snazzy new gear and equipment. Rookies will also get a free copy of Codec Pack 1, so that's cool.
To recap, Konami announced the incoming Greatest Hits version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (yeah, like we didn't see that one coming), and on Wednesday, they lifted the lid on the Shadow Moses MGO map, with the inclusion of Old Snake as a playable character. Now that we're all up-to-date, there's one final announcement to be made, and that should be coming soon…not sure if Konami counts Saturday as part of the week, but to us, it isn't . Anybody have any brilliant ideas as to what this last announcement will be…?
